Vibrating Phone

Amelia in the elevator, thinking about the deal she made. Amelia's vision was soon graced with Kyle, who was entering the elevator with files in his hand. Kyle's eyes were lowered, and his mind was filled with different calculations.

Things have turned out in this way now that Kyle wished to disappear from this state. Kyle did not know how today's discussion would turn out.

Amelia was confused seeing Kyle here. Alexander knew Evelyn, and now Kyle was here. Why were both men familiar with Evelyn when none of the families knew her?

"What are you doing here?" Amelia asked in a low voice.

The friendship of Alexander and Kyle was strained, which had been running strong. This news was not a secret anymore, but not a lot talked about it.

"Working," Kyle's eyes swept through Amelia.

Amelia was working with Alexander. After seeing Alexander with Evelyn that night, it was not a shock to see Amelia here.

To Kyle's dismay, his phone was ringing continuously, which was getting on his nerves.

"You should pick it up." Amelia shrugged her shoulder, looking at Kyle whose eyes were glued to his phone.

"Hmm," Kyle hummed but did not react. Rather than picking up the phone, he turned on his silent mode to block the voice.

Kyle was unclear, what was Layla doing calling him during work. The thing that irritated Kyle most was getting disturbed. His eyes stayed on the call as his hands tightened.

In the silence, none of them spoke to each other. Amelia never liked Kyle. Was he not her type or due to his closeness towards the person she liked was a mystery, but the facts remained that she still was not a fan of him.

"I will see you around." Kyle nodded and left the elevator.

"Yes," Amelia nodded. No matter how Kyle was, but he still is a member of the Blacks.

As both Amelia and Kyle left the company one after the other they saw a pair coming towards them. Kyle's eyes were filled with a silhouette walking towards him, as his steps stopped.

Clara was immersed in talking with Oliver that she did not see people stopping by her presence. She was baffled with herself. What was so interesting to talk with Oliver that their topic never ended.

Was she too comfortable? Or was she so used to it now that Clara did not shy away from expressing her thoughts. Their topics ranged from the current scenarios of the society to the recipe of desserts.

A smile spread through her face, lightning Clara's features. It was too late now, Clara knew being with Oliver made her happy.

Clara's smile was dazzling in the sun, radiating warmth around her.

Kyle was confused. He had never seen Clara so happy before.

'Why is Clara with him?'

This question surfaced in Kyle's heart, as his eyes narrowed in annoyance. It was an unbearable feeling for Kyle. It is hard to forget a friendship so old. Even when the glass is broken, the scars were yet to heal for Kyle.

Clara had no idea about Kyle being there. She was just about to cross them when she heard her name being called.

Amelia had not seen Clara for so long. Even though for Alexander, Clara was like a spoiled sibling, Amelia never felt threatened by her. But seeing Clara here arose a certain curiosity in Amelia.

Amelia had known Clara, but the lady standing before her was a bit different. Though Amelia had only met Clara a few times, she was still somewhat familiar with her. A person who was shy and nervous on various occasions was beaming with reliance.

"Clara" Hearing her name Clara stopped. She tilted her face and saw Amelia standing alongside, calling her.

Clara stopped, but her eyes were not focused on Amelia. The first thing Clara saw was Kyle standing there looking at her with his widened eyes.

Clara had no idea what Kyle was doing here. There was a slight amusement in her eyes, but Clara endured it well. Soon her eyes that were showing some waves became a Stillwater.

Clara smiled, but her smile did not reach her eyes. She nodded at Kyle and shifted her focus back towards Amelia. She had known Amelia for a long time but was not very familiar with her, and as for Kyle, that was a completely different story.

"Yes, hello," Clara answered in a subtle voice. She was not sure why Amelia was here, but the thing which confused her the most was Kyle's presence.

She questionably looked at Oliver, who was looking down at her. Oliver was trying to identify some changes in Clara but was met with her watery eyes.

Oliver read the unvoiced question in those deep orbs, and he blinked in understanding.

Before Oliver's indication, Clara's mind was filled with questions regarding Kyle. What was he here for? Was he troubling Evelyn again? and many more. But a small reassuring action from Oliver brought back Clara's peace of mind.

" How come you are you here?" Clara enquiries, looking at Amelia completely ignoring Kyle's presence.

Kyle saw all the exchanges happening between the two. Kyle was not used to being completely blocked in Clara's sight. Looking at Clara now, Kyle was sure she had finally moved on.

'Is moving o so easy?' Kyle was dying to ask this to Clara. On one hand, he was happy that Clara found a new motivation in life. Her moving on from him was a good indication for his and Layla's relationship, but then why was Kyle's body fuming.

Kyle knew Clara was Evelyn's friend, and she had changed a lot. Clara's hairs have gotten shorted, and her confidence is getting higher. This new Clara was fun to watch, she gave a different aura, which was very attractive.

Oliver's eyes darkened, looking at Kyle. After Amelia and Clara's small chat was over, Oliver extended his hand around Clara in possession. Holding her in his firm arms, Oliver moved Clara towards the company.

Kyle thought Clara would push his hand away, but to his shock, Clara looked at Oliver with a smile and went along with him without turning back.

Oliver looked back at Kyle and smirked. Kyle saw it as an act of arrogance as his fingers tightened around his vibrating phone.

"You should pick it up." Amelia giggled as she walked away.

Kyle's hand clenched over his phone. Kyle took a deep breath to calm his mind and finally picked up his phone.

"Layla." Kyle's voice was now filled with irritation.

Layla's ears were filled with Kyle's voice. Why was Kyle irritated? Was it because Layla called him when he was busy or was it because she called Kyle when he was with Clara?

Layla's heart was in deep sorrow. Her body was hiding behind a tree. Seeing Clara standing near Kyle for so long made Layla extremely vulnerable.

"Where are you?" Layla's voice trembles. She wanted to know what they both talked about, but Layla was afraid to ask.

What if Kyle said that it was something personal. What will Layla say then? Will she look bad in Kyle's eyes? Many questions flew through Layla's mind.

"I am at work." Kyle ran his hand through his hairs in irritation. "I am busy now, is it something important?"

Kyle tried to maintain his voice to his best. He knew that if he tried showing any abnormal emotions, Layla would catch upon it. Layla was a very insecure person. She had a habit to underestimate herself.

"No, I was just asking." A small drop of tear ran through Layla's eye. Was Kyle always telling the truth was the question circulating Layla's mind. Was Kyle always meeting Clara and not telling her?

"Let's go for dinner." Sensing some abnormality at Layla's voice. Kyle felt guilty for not telling the whole truth, but he was busy today. Kyle wanted to avoid adding another burden on his shoulder for now.

"Yes, I will wait for you." Layla tried maintaining her voice. Her eyes were filled with water. Her hands were trembling.

Layla felt that now that Clara was not hanged up on Kyle, was Kyle now wanted to stretch his hand and save his friendship with Clara.

Layla's wanted to complain with Kyle. Why did he not pick up his phone? Why was he not telling anything to her regarding his meeting?

After a few words, Kyle hung up the phone. He turned around, his eyes lingered on the company's door for a few seconds before turning around and leaving.

This small thing was not ignored by Layla. Her breathing rushed as her finger clenched.

"I need to do something," Layla murmured under her breath as she left.
