Waking from the comforting night the two dressed and made sure they were ready. As they both used the day to pack all of the food, medical supplies, books, and tools to the small cart of the bike she walked back into her home. For one last time, the halls, rooms, and turns of her home gave her comfort. She had learned all of the talents of her parents and had adopted them; the raw talent of mechanics, repairing, shooting, and savaging from her father to the outsmarting, science, logic, and history from her mother. Brushing her hand along a wall and standing in the living room she happily cries.
"So long then. I had very fond memories…" she says softly stepping to the bookshelf seeing a photo of her and her parents that she returned to the frame. Joshua stood behind her to the garage side door patient and proud.
"They would have been proud, Susan. Such as I am. I will teach you more of the land." he says kindly having his arms comfortable crossed across his vest.
"I would like that. I would like that very much." she smiles, whipping away her tears and eyes back to the living room taking in the last sight before she comes to the door to shut it slowly before locking it one last time.
They then headed out to the sunsetting Mojave Desert and with the night coming, it was windy and sandy. She lifted her helmet onto her head and confidently looked to her future with him driving to the passage she had made her first step to a new beginning and new discovery. The night was somehow changed to her eyes, it could have been the lens of her helmet for all she knew but for one true fact, she could see her hope laid out before her. The wind flowing past them had chilled Joshua giving him goosebumps. He felt the new life she had brought him and praised his Lord in his heart and closely held onto her from behind her with softer arms. She held an arm across his chilled arms in front of her abdomen. Her tanned skin close against his pale moonlit skin. The sky was partially cloudy above and the stars seemed to shine for them tonight to greet them in their found solace.
Approaching the end of the Northern Passage, she lifted off her helmet, they both gazed at each other and smiled wide. Both took their first step to head back to his home. To the lands of Zion, they would keep their light burning hand in hand for all to see, including their Lord God, to see and bear witness of their redemption.
