Maybe something had changed

Simon shook his head and forced himself to smile. He never could bear seeing that face hurt.

"Don't worry about it. I'm sure you'll find out soon enough. With you living with Den and your mind reading. Anyway, don't you want dinner?" Simon said.

Stella blinked and pushed her worries to the back of her mind. "You'll take me to eat out!?!?!?!" she exclaimed.

Simon chuckled as he led her downstairs, "Did you forget I'm a doctor? Do you know how bad restaurant food is for health? But.... I'll help you cook."

Stella beamed as they both headed down.

She had never liked cooking, because it had always felt like a burden back at Susan's, when she rarely got to eat whatever she cooked unless she nicked it away.

But if she had someone to do it with, Stella really enjoyed cooking.

The two came down the stairs and Stella peeped into the living room, where Den was sitting engrossed in his mobile.

"Hey Sharp! You wanna come join us?" Stella asked.

Den looked up and scoffed, "What good will three people do, cooking for one?"

Stella pouted and walked to the kitchen.

"What's wrong with him? Did his period come or something?" Stella said as Simon stiffled a laugh and Den's growl was heard from the living room.

Simon left after dinner and Stella walked out of the cottage, intending to take a walk. She really needed to clear her mind. She was sick and tired of hearing people's voices in her head.

And was more tired of hearing people tell lies, and she couldn't say anything.

"What? Trying to run away not that you have 'superpowers'?" Den's voice came from her side as Stella walked out of the cottage.

Stella sighed and turned to look at him.

She was tired and in no mood to argue.

"Why can't you be nice to me? When did I even offend you?" Stella asked, and Den seemed visibly taken aback at that question.

Den said nothing as he huffed and walked back in.

Stella sighed and walked into the forest.

There relationship used to be so nice. For the first time ever, Stella had really begun to consider this cottage her home.

But then she had made the foolish mistake of going into that room. That was the day everything had changed. Sharp had started to treat her like she was a burden. And maybe she was.

Stella sighed as she looked back at the cottage. Den's behaviour had been bothering her a lot lately, especially today. Though there was no change in his behaviour, maybe the change was in her heart. Goodness knew what was happening.

Stella lay in her bed on her back, wide awake and staring at the ceiling.

She could not sleep and was humming a song to herself to keep herself busy.

But whatever she did, Stella's mind wandered over to the question that had been bothering her ever since she had first realised she had special powers.

The question she had thought maybe her four vampire friends would be able to throw some light upon. Why did she have those powers?

Stella groaned as she turned to her side, why did she have to run into this stupid species. She didn't want to know about vampires.

She didn't want to believe in them.
