"Wrath…" he muttered to himself.
Whether it was the early morning or Wrath's abrupt notice, Lust managed to scoff down his breakfast without any silverware in under a minute.
"It's always the pretty ones that's crazy," Simbi hissed.
Lust jumped from his seat, dropping the empty plastic bowl, "What the f*ck??".
"You can hear me?" she asked in astonishment.
He answered with a nod as he eyed his surroundings. This gave her the idea that he was unable to see her. Simbi was a snake priestess that spoke with a lisp and raspy high-pitched voice. Sometimes she would slither to get around quicker and was able to wrap around her victim like a snake. Unlike Medusa, her powers did not involve turning people into stones with her snake hair. She was an embodiment of the deadly green anaconda that her people used to worship.
"My master didn't mention that you had a second sight, "she pondered.
"Master? Second sight? What are you talking about? Who are you? Show yourself!" he demanded.
"No rush. Wouldn't wanna wake your lovely brother now, would we?" she teased, "take a seat."
Lust sat on the kitchen counter, away from the voice, "Answer me."
"There's no need to be scared. My master had appointed me to guard the house while she's away on her important journey. My name is Simbi," she hissed every S.
"You are one of Wrath's ghost friends?" he said unmoving.
"Yes."
"I don't think I was supposed to be able to hear you," he rubbed his eyes and ears.
"Neither did I nor my master. It seems like you have been exposed to your true nature. You are slowly stepping into the light," her tone flat.
"You mean I was supposed to be able to? And something might've triggered the ability?" he said with excitement now.
"Yes, you can put it that way."
"Then I should be joining Wrath to understand myself better!" he jolted off the counter.
"I'm not sure if that is what she wanted. She went on this journey to regain balance and progress in order to possess greater powers," she said with a worried tone realizing she might have said the wrong thing.
"And I could protect her better if I am to join her. I'll take Pride's car."
Lust filled his Nike backpack with supplies and took Pride's car keys. He left a note explaining his sudden departure and microwaved a breakfast burrito before leaving the flat. Simbi stood in the kitchen as she watched him leave.
She was not sure how her master would take the unwanted company and whether she would be punished for it. Lust had changed into a camo jogger, black Nike sweatshirt, and his old pair of battered red and white Air Jordan. Simbi found herself unable to do anything to physically nor spiritually stop him.
"She couldn't have gone that far. I can still catch up with her," he grabbed the steering wheel and turned the engine on.
"Please don't kill me. I hope the other one is normal," Simbi prayed for herself.
**********
It must have been about 11:30 when Pride finally got up as the light penetrated the sheer blinds in Lust's room. The house was weirdly solemn, no shouting or loud music playing, no grunts or cooking sounds from the kitchen, no noises from the bathroom or the balcony.
"Something's fishy," he thought.
He reached for his phone. 11:35 AM, 2 new messages from Lust, 1 missed call from Envy. The text explained the rash decision that both of his housemates had just made earlier that day. Another call from Envy, but he decided to answer it this time.
"Hey Pride! Greed and I were just thinking of going to the beach. I'm taking my dad's car today. What do you say?" she said sweetly.
"Uhm… Not today. I gotta take care of the house," he yawned.
"What house? Don't you have maids?" she asked.
Pride smacked his forehead for being such a dumbf*ck. He almost spilled his own secret about not staying at his father's place anymore. Furthermore, he was currently staying at Wrath and Lust's apartment for an uncertain period of time.
He tried to backtrack, "I mean I promised my dad I'll help him with some papers. You know, with the diner burning and shit. Need maximum PR work."
"Oh, oh yeah, of course. We didn't mean to bother you. I can pop over for a sec if you want. I'll bring some lemonade," she offered.
"Uh, no we're fine here. Gotta go now. Have fun," he hung up and sighed with relief.
