Speak of the Devil pt.1

"What are you doing?" Wrath wiped her mouth with the last piece of napkin on the table.

"What do you mean?" Lust dug into his meal.

"You know what I mean. You're doing that charming sweet talk on that poor girl."

"Oh, coming from a morally skewed person like you it means a lot. And for your information, I do mean what I said."

Wrath rolled her eyes, "Yeah, right."

Just as he was done with his food, the redheaded waitress rolled around their area with a glass of vanilla sundae and a jelly donut.

"Here, as a token of my appreciation," Uriel smiled.

"Oh, gee. You shouldn't have! It's my pleasure," he tried to push the offerings away.

"No, no. Please, I insist."

"Here. You can have the sundae," Lust slid the glass to his friend's side.

Her eyes glimmered brightly as she scooped the ice cream into her mouth. She was like a mix breed of a beast and a Tamagotchi pet that Lust needed to feed constantly to prevent major destruction of the town and his sanity. The diner had finally calmed down as the customers cleared away one by one.

"So, looks like you're familiar with our new kitchen assistant," the waitress whispered and winked.

"Yeah, we live in the same apartment building," the young man nibbled on his dessert.

"Ooo… No wonder she kept on looking your way ever since you set foot in the diner."

"Hey, now. Don't bully the girl."

"Hahaha… Okay, I'm gonna take 5. Cover for me if you need to, will ya?" she jested.

And with that, the diner fell silent once more. Lust peeped out the window to see the workers arriving to change the tire on Pride's car. His friend had just devoured the cup of sundae and almost passed out from overfilling herself. The dormant silence of emptiness had proven to be too much for the head chef to handle as he shouted for Lust to play a tune on the jukebox.

He scanned over the playlist and picked a song after putting the coin in the slot. 'Got My Mind Set on You by George Harrison' played.

"C'mon," Lust offered his hand.

"Seriously?" Wrath raised an eyebrow.

"We have time."

"Only because you gave me the sundae," she extended her hand.

Without another thought, he pulled her into his arms and swayed to the melody of the decrepit machine. Michael watched the pair and whistled as he chimed in and sing along. Wrath was surprisingly limber and groovy as she danced along with his friend. The smile and amazement on Lust's face was indescribable. He had never seen her twirled and whirled so freely. As the song was about to fade away, Wrath stepped on a greasy spot and almost plummeted to the ground headfirst.

His quick reflex caught her on time as the music stopped playing and unintentionally recreated the picture-perfect scene of dipping the girl at the end of a song. He swept her off the floor and moved her away from the dangerous puddle of grease. Their eyes locked momentarily until he eventually let her go. She brushed her thumb against his lower lips and smiled.

"You got some powdered sugar on there."

A customer had taken the liberty of spicing up the moment by playing 'Super Freak by Rick James'.

"Get it, gurl!" a lady trucker cheered from few tables away.

"I'll go check on the car," Wrath snapped out of it.

"Y-yeah, I'll get the bill," her housemate turned and wiped his mouth.

Famine showed out from her hiding spot and helped out with the register. She was clearly flustered after witnessing the highly intimate moment her neighbors just shared. She averted her eyes during their interaction to avoid locking gaze with her secret crush.

"I'll head home now. Thank Uriel for me," he requested.

"Sure, thank you too," she nodded.

"See you around," he smiled; oblivious to her hidden feelings for him.

A sudden uproar arose from the parking lot. Lust rolled his eyes and sighed. What else now? He thought. He knew that his friend's mood could jump from 0 to 100 in point two seconds. Famine looked over his shoulder to see what had happened.

"War?!" she exclaimed.

Her reaction caused Lust to whip his head around. Lo and behold, Schnitzel was grabbing Wrath by her shirt's collar and pinned her against Pride's car. Famine sprinted outside to break up the fight before it could escalate any further. Lust followed behind casually until he saw his friend holding a crowbar by her side.

"F*ck." He ran out and pushed pass the crowd that had built up around the two perpetrators.

"There you are," Schnitzel turned to meet his face.

"Let her go!" he demanded.

"Sure, after you explain why you were flirting with my sister. What do you want from her, huh?" the brawny guy tightened his hold.

"Who?"

Famine intercepted the confrontation and begged, "Brother, please. You're embarrassing me! Let the girl go."

"Dude, I'm literally just trying to go home. What is your problem? You're getting on my nerve," the purple haired girl scowled; exasperated.

"Shut up!" he barked before facing Lust again. "First, you tried to flirt with my girlfriend. Now, you're trying to flirt with my baby sister. Isn't this tr*mp enough for you? Yeah, I saw everything."

"War stop it! We were just talking," the girl pounded on her brother's chest.

"Yeah, James Dean. Stop it," Wrath mimicked her mockingly.

"Hey, I wasn't trying to steal your girl. And it wasn't my fault that she looked so bored."

The subject of the argument combed her long blond hair in guilt among the crowd of high school kids.

"And don't you think it's weird that your 'girlfriend' looks the exact same age as your sister? Aren't you like 20 years too old for her?" Wrath taunted.

"Wrath shut up!" her tall friend shot her an angry look as if saying 'Let me handle this, you idiot'.

War yanked her body and sent her flying to her friend's foot.

"Now you've done did it!" she raised her weapon and was ready to strike.

Lust blocked her blow calmly, "We're just trying to go home. I apologize if I offended you with my action and for my friend's unruly behavior," he kicked her lightly. "Can I compensate you in any way?"

"Hahaha… You rich people are all the same. You think everything can be bought or fixed with money. No, pal. I'm challenging you to a boxing match. Let's see how tough you are."
