The monster splattered all over my face. The last person just killed a summon that seemed to have been made from water.
Everyone finally finished with the test. Most failed but the ones that didn't all gathered in front of the principals.
"Congratulation to those who emerged victorious", Alastair started. "For those of you who failed, you may try again next year. Just remember to practice and get stronger.
One of the other students raised their hand.
Alastair nodded his head toward the student. "Yes, Mr. Rodriguez? What is your question?"
"I was wondering when we were going to our schools", The kid said.
"Right, we will be leaving immediately after you say your goodbyes to your relatives", Alastair responded. "Also remember that you shall bring your belongings because you will stay in our dorms."
He then told us to go to our homes and be back in and hour or two. If not, we will be left behind and won't be attending anymore.
I was so excited to tell my father the news, he would be so proud.
Up on the hilltop lie my house. As I walked up my house, I suddenly had flashbacks, remembering the good times I had as a kid.
I remember the time I inherited my daggers. My dad held back tears in his eyes. He didn't want me to notice that he actually had feelings.
But I always knew that inside all that muscle, was a tender heart.
He was always there in every huge milestone in my life so far. I still can't believe that I won't be seeing him in such a long time.
It was just us living in that old house. My mom died while I was a little toddler and I never had any siblings.
I looked at the view as I got up to the front of my house. I always loved looking out there. Especially at night, I always went to our roof to look at the shadows of the trees.
There, I found peace and tranquillity whenever I get into an argument with my father, which was often.
Now, I finally see that the arguments were all lessons from my dad, but I was too young and stubborn to listen.
You never know how much you love someone until you lose them.
I walked to our front door. I notice that the door was slightly open. I immediately readied my ability, knowing that my dad is not the type of guy to leave the door open.
With caution, I walked in to our house. All the lights were off but I could see perfectly.
I heard a loud thump in the basement, followed by a pained grunt.
I peaked down the basement. I could see two shadows, one standing and the other one sitting down.
I silently went down, hoping to further understand the situation. I hear two voices, though I can't make out what they were saying.
Finally, I was close enough to hear them.
"I don't know where he is." I recognize that voice. That man cuffed to the chair is... My father. "Let me go or I'll unleash my wrath upon you."
"Please, I don't want to hurt you", the man said.
"If you touch a hair on my son, I will personally hunt you down."
The man punched my dad in his face. I tried to move but I couldn't. I was frozen still with fear.
This man was not someone to mess with. If he could fight my dad and cuff him without a scratch, he could easily take me down.
I tried to think of what I should do. I thought of any possible ways I could handle the situation.
I finally fought the fear and found the courage to fight. I silently walked up to the man, holding my daggers. I slit his throat, hoping that it would kill him. His body hits the floor with a thud.
"NO! You shouldn't have done that!", my dad warned, "RUN!"
The man grabs my hand, his wound healing.
"No way, that's impossible", I said, " how are you still alive."
I stabbed him again and again, but nothing would work. His wounds kept regenerating.
"Aw come on, stop that kid, it might heal, but I still feel pain", he said. He reached for something inside his pocket, a key. "You want me to free your father? Then just come with me and everything will be all right"
"Don't listen to him, just run away", my dad told me, "He will kill me either way, he only needs you."
He only needs you. That sentence seemed to ring in my mind. I kept asking myself why he needed me.
"Your right", the man said to my dad, " I only need him"
And on those last words, he grabbed his gun from his holster, and shot my father in his chest.
I broke free from the mans grasp and I ran to him. I fell on my knees and hugged him. I tried to hold his gun shot wound to try to prevent blood from escaping.
"It's okay Draven, Everyone's bound to die someday, my time just came", he said.
He grabbed my hands, "always remember that you are destined to do great things. I love you... Son."
He closed his eyes. A few seconds passed, then minutes. It felt like time was going faster.
"No, you can't be dead", I sobbed and hit the floor, "WHY?!"
I stared daggers at the man who killed my father. He just stood there like he didn't kill my only family.
I stood up, I imagined myself in the darkness, feeling the anger in me lash out. It gave me power. Without even knowing it, I stood up glaring at the murderer.
I felt the shadows drawing to me. I knew that it was trying to aid me. I unleashed my power onto the man.
The basement became pitch black, but I could see. I had a secret power that even my friends and dad didn't know about.
I manipulated the shadows to my will. I controlled it to resemble a familiar enemy I just had.
When I finished, I heard a howl like something just came back to life. I made the wolf I just defeated with my friends.
Without any orders, it immediately attacked the confused and blinded man. It must've sensed the hatred I had for him.
It chewed him faster than he can heal, but I knew that he wouldn't die. Then I thought of a brilliant idea.
I told the wolf to put him down. Like an obedient dog, it heeded my command.
"Hey, listen kid, I was just following ord-." The man tried to finish the sentence but I casted him away into the shadow realm.
"I'll finish you later, I have some more important things to do right now," I said.
I grabbed my once living fathers corpse and gave him a proper burial.
I never said I love you enough, I thought to myself while burying him.
Sadly, I had to get going. I grabbed my belongings to get ready to attend my new school.
I teleported back to the arena and made it just in time for the departure. I noticed my where my friends were.
I walked up to them and tried to hide my sadness from them. I didn't know how I could face anyone without them thinking that I've been swimming in my own tears.
I was seriously sweaty from all the digging in my fathers burial, and hiding the fact that I've been crying was going to be difficult.
"Wow man, that tough to say goodbye to your dad that you always wanted to leave?", Jonathan said mockingly.
"He's... He's...", I tried to talk but I couldn't finish that sentence.
"Your dads what?", Adrian asked.
"He's dead."
Everyone went silent for a minute. It was obvious that it was a shock for them to hear that my dad was dead. He was a very powerful man.
"Jeez man, I'm sorry", Jonathan finally spoke, breaking the awkward silence, "It must be hard losing the only one who took care of you."
That did not made me feel better at all, but Jon wasn't the best with these kind of things, I understand.
"Everything's going to be all right, I still have you guys", I said.
Gabbie didn't say anything. She just stood there staring at me with sympathy. After a few seconds of awkward stares from her, she hugged me.
"Your right, you do have us, and we will always be there for you Draven", she assured me.
I didn't tell anyone about the murderer being stuck inside the shadow realm. I want to let him suffer. But before he dies, I'm going to interrogate him about why he needed me.
It was obvious he was working for someone else. Someone I needed to take care of.
We waited for our principal to let us go on the bus. About 12 students got picked by Boniface.
Finally, Mr. Alastair, a red headed 5'11 ft man in a black suit, looking like an agent in men in black told us to enter the bus.
I was finally going to Boniface. My life goal has been finished, But now I have another reason to train. To kill the person that ordered to kill my father and kidnap me.
As I got on the bus, I told myself, I will avenge you old man.
