Space Zombies part three

After a few minutes of fighting my newly found migraine, I calmed down and hatched a plan. I pulled open the emergency compartment that was located in the under carriage. A small plastic disk about two feet around and a small box came out. The disk had a pull cord on it and as I tossed the disk in one direction I held the cord. When the line was taught I felt it give way and in mid air the disk unfolded itself to produce a one man tent. I turned my attention to the box and found the tools I use to Repair Linus.

Removing Linus's head I tucked it under one arm and entered the tent. This work was to delicate to do with my gloves on so I waited until the small green light on the side of the tent turned on and I removed my helmet and gloves. After a few minutes I managed to get the face-plate off and remove the eye sockets . It was soaked, water dripped to the floor and made a larger puddle than I had thought possible. There was no smell of burned or shorted circuits so at least there was that.

" I knew I should of brought rice. A few minutes in that and you would be fine" Chuckling to myself.

At some point I had given up dismantling his head and just tried to blow into the faceplate. There was a small master switch on the back of the neck and I toggled it every few minutes. Click, click, click, damn.

Setting down Linus's head my head throbbed with a pain that made me want to start making deals with god to make it stop. I wasn't sure at this point if it was stress or the oxygen in the tent was not being filtered and recycled properly. my stomach had gone from very hungry to a deep sense of dread.

There were voices outside the tent. I could almost hear what they were saying. My mind made up a conversation. It was other Pirates outside and they were going to cut the tent and watch me suffocate.

I threw on my helmet and gloves. There was a flathead screw driver that would suffice as a weapon. I exploded from the tent and made the face of a man about to kill.

No one was there. I was losing it. Space crazy is something I had seen before. People screaming about invisible creatures stalking them through the universe. Hell bent that they needed to get as many Jelly beans as they could to stop the nightmare.

Returning to the tent I began trying to bring Linus back online. Flicking the switch again there was a little click and a buzz of power.

" Zzzzrrrp"

" you back online Linus?"

There was some more buzzing before Linus could confirm that he was up and running. We spoke for a few minutes as I resembled his head, basically just asking questions like "Are you ok?" and " do you know how much you scared me?"

Once he was back together I put on my helmet and gloves again.

"Let's finish this up and get.."

There was a sound outside the tent and the impression of a hand went across the thin wall. Then a head tried to chew it's way in.

" What the hell is this? Your seeing this to right"

I pointed his head in the direction and he confirmed I wasn't hallucinating. Honestly I would of preferred going space crazy.

Grabbing the screw driver I drove it through the head trying to rip it's way in. It stuck and I felt the body stop struggling. I pulled the screw driver back. There was a hiss from the small hole then a loud ripping sound as the hole gave way and I instantly found myself sitting on the floor of the cave with pieces of tent scattered on the ground.

I got a good look at the thing. It was human looking, except the skin was green with the texture of worn leather. It's clothes were brown and dirty as if it had rolled across the entire dessert.

I looked to the cave exit and I saw three more of these things slowly stumbling towards me.

" Time to go Linus" I said as I climbed on his body and began to attach his head.

Something grabbed my foot just as I got him back together. Pulling me down I lost my balance and gracefully hit the ground on my shoulder. Before I knew it another one had gotten on top of me and I had all I could do to grab his ears to keep him from biting me. I pulled hard to keep him off and one ear came off suddenly so I had to switch up and grab his neck.

"Help" I pushed out as I continued struggling.

Then I felt the weight come off my chest and watched in amazement as he floated a few feet over my head then was thrown face first into the wall.

" I got him. Bzzz lets go"

I felt a metal hand grasp my wrist so tightly that I almost shouted in pain. I was lifted up by it and then placed on the back of Linus. I was numb and disoriented at this point and only remembered the ride felt bumpier than I had remembered.

When my mind came back to me; we were just exiting the cave. The light showed me how big our problems really were. There were hundreds of these things as far as I could see, all dirty and green. Looking down I realized the road was rough because Linus had given up trying to drive around them and was now just rolling over them without concern.

Some of the more agile of the group made their way a little to close to my face for comfort and were snatching at me as we roared by. We started getting bogged down and two large sprays of processed monster meat flew out from under our treads. We slowed to a stop and found ourselves stuck in a worst situation. The hoard surrounded us and started to climb Linus to get to me.
