CHAPTER 4

THE DREAM

That dream seems so real. It's been a month that Clein was testing everything if that dream will really happen.

Yes that dream is her life, her tomorrow and her future.

She was wracking her brain for a month if the scene from her dream will be the same in this reality.

Or worst case scenario, this was just a dream and she was void with the reality.

She was certain that what was happening on her surrounding was the same with that dream except from times that she already forgot what had happen.

On that dream, she was married early to the Duke of Salviera. She could not accept her father sell her to the Duke of Salviera. In protest, she secretly went to France a night after her wedding to continue her study in Medicine.

From then on, she tried to forget her homeland. She just makes sure to send letters to her father from time to time to inform her living conditions.

Right after her internship to different hospitals in France, she dedicated herself to volunteer on Medical Services abroad.

She went across Africa, Asia, Australia, Russia and even Europe. Countries where in short of medical staff whether due to a massive earthquake, war, typhoon, accident explosions and even spread of infectious diseases.

All because she hated her father and even avoided her wedded husband.

However she forgot that her father was not getting any younger. Out of depression and guilt, her father lives in regret each day.

He disregarded his health and even feed himself more work to cope up each day. The only thing that he got to uplift his mood was the letters of her daughter which will come few times a year.

He owes this freedom to her one and only daughter. With that thinking he did not tell his daughter his illness. Each day his health deteriorated.

Buther Hepthym tried to contact his master's daughter but the old man refused. It was the last wish of the Baron before he faded.

Right after the Baron died, Hepthym resigned to his job. He returns to his province with great contempt towards the Baron's daughter.

The Baron becomes his brother, mentor and coach. Each year he sent the letter wrote by the Barron before he died. There was at least a hundred letters the Baron wrote in advance so that her daughter will think that he is well.

Hepthym could not do anything but to follow the orders of the late Baron.

The family's business went downhill when the Baron's illness went terminal. They could not ask for assistance to the Salviera family because if what her daughter did.

Though the duke did not divorce her daughter it does not mean he was okay with it. He also heard from some sources that the Duke also face some difficulties because of power struggle. He could no longer bother the lives of the two.

Tauren left his last earnings to her daughter. This was enough for her to live a simple life in her lifetime. The whole estate and business was sold leaving only a house that was from his wife's dowry

While she has the time of her life doing surgery, Clein decided to give her medical services somewhere in Middle East.

The war on this two country was so severe that very few doctor volunteers avoided to aid. Kidnapping of foreigners was rampant asking huge amount of ransom.

Clein do not mind the danger. This was her duty for almost thirteen years.

She fearlessly went to the camp, however the camp was attacked by a group of terrorist making them a war hostages for almost 6 months.

Clein suffered and sometimes think to suicide because some of the terrorist threatened to rape them.

Clein was already in her late thirties at that time but there were old men eyeing her lustfully. She better kill herself than let those evils have her.

It was pure torture of being hostage for almost 6 months. On that fateful night, when they are about to be freed by the agreement signed by the United Nations, she was walking to the chopper that will send them home, when the one of the terrorist suddenly fired his gun nonstop. Everything was in chaos, that she did not notice that a pair of arms was hugging her. This man was one of the soldiers sent by the United Nations.

The man shielded her from the guns shot on her way.

"Nooooo..."

The terrorist was subdued immediately but the man that was protecting her could not be saved.

She could not believe what was happening. The man fell helplessly. She did not know what to do in that situation. The man was pooling on his own blood.

"My Clein" the man muttered. Clein was alarmed why does this man knew her.

"Please mister, don't talk anymore, I'll do anything to save you" The man was so familiar with her. Her hands were shivering attempting to cover the flow of blood from his body.

"No, you don't... have to... do...anything... I just want... to talk to you... we didn't get the chance... to do this before" The man's breath was labored. Clein knew that it only takes a few minutes before this man will die.

"I wish... I could extend more time... My Clein live well... okay? Like you always do... I've been watching you... you are happy... with your career.... That is why I let you do what you want... but... let me just see you for the last time okay?" Clein now knew who this man was... it was her husband that she left fifteen years ago.

"Allen Salviera"

"Yes... it's me... it's good to finally hear... my name... from your lips... my Clein I just... love you so... much that... that... that I can't leave... you alone but... don't worry it... will be the last... time." Streams of tears fall from her eyes. Why did it come to this?

"My Clein..."

"No... no... noooooo"

Clein immediately went home after Allen died. His body was aired back to his estate at Salviera however no one of the relative received except the Butler of the house.

The Butler explained that both of his parents died due to an ambush 5 years ago. Since then the new Duke Allen pursued all those who killed his parents. He did all the means legal or illegal just to give justice to his decease parents.

When Allen was done, he went abroad to find her and the rest is history. The butler said that his master truly loved her.

Many times he convince his master to take his wife back home, but the master insists that it will make her angry and contempt him even more.

Clein was so lost. She has all the luxury in the world because of the riches of his husband but it no longer matter to her.

She went home to meet his father because she was so lost however, it was too late...

It almost made her crazy thinking all the people love her was no longer living due to her selfishness.

She cried herself to sleep, and that was the last time she remembers before she wake up.

She was back, when she was just eighteen years old taking her vacation from school. It was also a month before the Salviera family will send their letter of intent to marry her to their son Allen.
