Chapter 25 - Burglar?

The sun went down and darkness invaded their visions again. But this time there was an operating light in the huge house. After not seeing an artificial light for days now, they felt blinding.

Reya shielded her eyes with her open palm and walked over to the attached bathroom. She was not expecting much, but what she saw inside shocked her. The bathroom was fully furnished in linoleum and even the faucets were operating.

She sniffed her armpit and almost lost consciousness. They had a lack of water for a while now, so bathing was a privilege they did not had.

A cool bath sounded like a great idea.

The huge bathroom had everything, an operating bath, with clean water, a soft bath towel and bathing amenities. It all seemed like heaven to her.

Reya glanced back at her sister to find her already asleep on the bed.

"Bath, here I come," she whispered in glee and rushed in.

She wetted a small cloth and proceeded to wipe myself clean. Even though there was running faucets she didn't want to waste precious water. The cool wash towel felt refreshing on her skin.

After cleaning herself, she took a quick shower.

The water swirled as it flushed down the drain. For a second she was almost tempted to drink her own bath water but she stopped herself.

"No, No we have not degraded to that level... Yet," she told herself.

Reya found the old clothes she peeled off of her in the corner she had thrown them. They were quite dirty and stinky so she didn't want to wear them.

Wrapping myself with the fluffy towel, she walked out of the bath.

Her short brown hair dripped cold water onto her shoulders, making her shiver.

"Ugh." she trembled and jumped under the cover.

Her cute little sister rolled over to her and hugged her waist. She nuzzled her head and whined in her sleep.

"Reyaa. You re making the bed wet," Mina cried.

She got out of the bed and sat on the nearby chair.

"Oh sorry dear, I was in a hurry I didn't ask for any replacement clothes to the butler," she said caressing her long hair.

"Its okey," Mina mumbled.

Mina scrunched her nose and snuggled back to sleep.

She switched off all the lights, plunging the room in complete darkness again. It felt more natural to her.

Sitting next to the bed, Reya seriously thought of their future. 'As per Goddess Artemis, there is a way to save Mina by taking a test. But what will comprise in this test? Physical composition or mental or is it related to my weird power to run fast.'

'If it's physical I need to train my body and my powers to the max.' she thought, biting her lips.

As she was deep in her thoughts, she heard a small ticking noise.

She tried ignoring it, but it became too loud. "What the heck is that?" she walked out of her room in her towels.

Winter breeze made her bare legs shiver but ignored all that and walked in the creepy dark hallway.

The ticking became more prominent as she wound around a corner of the hallway. It was coming from behind a huge door.

'What is making that noise? Is it a burglar?' she thought with raising concerns.

She glanced around, trying to find a weapon. The hallway was completely empty except for a medieval amour kept as a display. In its hands was a long spear, with a rusted edge.

She pulled the heavy thing off of the hinges and held it in her palm. The weight of the spear felt comfortable in her hands.

"This will do," she whispered.

With her silent steps she crept to the door and banged it open.

A stunned man stood by a weird device. His torn white coat stained with grease and his hair hanging on his face made him undistinguishable. His bushy beard almost covered his lips.

"Who are you?"

The man stood still, holding a small screwdriver in his hands.

"Stay where you are. I will not hesitate to use this," she threatened holding the spear up.

He chuckled softly and walked up to her.

Her heart pounded loudly in ears as watched him walk close. She did not want to hurt anyone but... but if she had to she will.

"Stop!!" she cried, clenching the spear.

"What are doing here? ..... In Your towel," he said.

His hoarse voice reverberated through her spine, making her shiver.

Reya glanced at him with hesitation. "Tell me, who the hell are you? There is..... There is nothing to steal here," she stuttered.

He walked closer and swatted the spear from her hand. She lost her grip on it and it fell to the ground with a thud.

"ohh, I think there is.... now," he said inches from her face.

She screamed.
