I always appreciate a novel that starts more with show instead of telling - the main characters quickly jump into action and you're left wanting to know more about the world and the magic that inhabits it. Very readable!

Im getting a fantasy romance vibe from your first chapter. You might want to add your tag to a fantasy story. If possible could you build up a clearer character design other then that its all good. But again its just the first chapter so i might be wrong.
