Chapter 2: New Mission

"AHH!" Michael exclaimed as he sat up with a jolt. He had just woken up in his old bed.

"What the hell? I could've sworn I got shot." He looked down at where the bullet hole just was, or where he thought it was at least. He looked in the mirror and couldn't help but take a second look.

"Did I go back five years?"

[Correct.]

"So I wasn't dreaming, huh? Who are you?"

[I do not have a name, as only the Host can give me a name.]

"Oh, then I guess I'll just call you Samson."

[Name Confirmed.]

"So, what are you supposed to help me with?"

[I can not tell you that for now.]

"Why not?"

[I can not tell you that either.]

"Weird. Anyways, what can you do then? I know you can rewind time, but do you have any other powers?"

[Would you like to open the 'Help' Menu?]

"Yes"

[Opening Menu...]

As soon as Samson said those words, a small box popped up in front of Michael. The box couldn't have been more than about five inches by five inches. In the box, there was a table with all the options he could choose and their descriptions.

Michael looked through the menu and couldn't help but be amazed.

'This is too overpowered isn't it?"

Some options on the menu he couldn't believe were possible. He saw an option for inventory and clicked on that one. Next to the first box, the second box in a similar size and appearance popped up. This one, however, had lots of smaller boxes inside of it, but they were all empty.

He saw a small box near the top-right corner of the screen with a question mark inside of it and clicked on it. Inside a third, much smaller box, it explained how to use the inventory provided.

[To open your inventory just think 'Open Inventory'. To store items into your inventory, just think 'Store in Inventory' to store it. To take items out of your inventory, click on the item in the box provided, and click extract.]

After testing it out with a few objects, he clicked out of the inventory and kept looking through the menu. Another option that caught his eye was an option labeled 'Store'.

After clicking on the 'Store', a small box, much like the inventory one popped up, but this time the boxes were filled and each box had varying numbers underneath it ranging from 1 to 100. Inside the boxes, he saw a plethora of items, ranging from weapons such as swords and guns, tools such as phones, or even other items such as clothing and pills. He saw another question mark box and clicked on it again, opening the help menu.

[To view an item in the 'Store', press on the item you wish to view. To buy an item in the 'Store', press buy. If you do not have enough Origin Points to purchase an item in the store, small loans can be taken out, to be repaid with interest later on.]

After looking through the menu for a short time, he closed it out and started towards his bedroom door.

After he took a few steps however, he could hear the front door opening to his house.

He popped his head out of his bedroom door, and couldn't help but take a second look for the second time today.

Coming through the front door was a beautiful blonde hair and blue-eyed girl. It was his cousin who he had been living with ever since both their parents died. After she moved away three years into the previous timeline, he hadn't seen her again since.

"Essie?"

"What do you look so confused for, I do live here don't I?" Essie stated bluntly.

"Yea I know, sorry about that." He replied.

He turned around and went back to his room, as he could feel tears forming in the corners of his eyes.

"Can't believe that I've gone back five years now," He muttered to himself.

"I already knew it, but now it feels so surreal."

"Hey Samson, what am I supposed to be doing now anyway?" He asked

[You Have 1 New Mission. Would you like to open it?]

"Yes."

[Mission: Kill Somebody.

Reward: 25 Origin Points.

Punishment for Failure: Essie will die in a car crash.

Time Limit: 3 days.]

'What the Hell?' Michael thought, dumbfounded. He hasn't even gotten into any fights, how was he supposed to kill somebody.

"Can you change the mission, I'll do anything other than this." He pleaded.

[Mission has already been given and can not be changed.]

'So the mission isn't going to be changing, huh?'

[To help the Host, a Side Mission has been issued.]

[Mission: Do 100 Pull-ups

Reward: Strength Pill

Punishment for Failure: The Host will fall asleep for 24 hours.

Time Limit: 1 Hour.]

'What the heck!'

Michael couldn't believe that now he had to work out, despite barely exercising before he had died. He decided to start right away. Otherwise, he wouldn't be able to finish all 100 pull-ups in just an hour.

He had a very steady pace throughout the first 50 pull-ups, and he initially thought he'd be able to finish them all within a fraction of the time. He changed his mind when he got to around 70 though, because his arms started shaking more and more, and he could feel the sweat building upon his palms.

At around 90 pull-ups, his arms were already giving out, and he could barely hold the bar. There were only 5 minutes left, and he struggled as he lifted himself over the bar for the last ten pull-ups. Right as he finished his 100th pull-up, he fell off of the bar and collapsed onto the ground.

[Side Mission Complete. Rewards have been deposited.]

'Where were they deposited? Are they in my inventory?'

Just as he thought that a menu popped up labeled Inventory, startling him. He noticed that the first box had an item in it. As he clicked on the box, it brought up a different screen with a small red pill on it.

'Guess that's the strengthening pill from the side mission. Let's try it out.' He thought as he tapped on the pill.

The pill popped into his hand, right as he tapped on it.

He observed the pill for a little bit before he popped it into his mouth and swallowed it. It caused a burning sensation to course throughout his body for a short while, before returning to normal.

'I don't feel any different. Are you sure this works?' He asked.

[All items given to the Host will be 100% operational unless stated otherwise.]

'That's odd. Let me give it a try then.' He thought as he went to his bed. His bed was an older bed with a solid oak frame and an iron bed base. Usually, he hates cleaning his room, because his bed was so heavy it took two people to move it.

He approached the bed and grabbed ahold of one of the corners. More came with it though, as the rest of his bed got picked up, even bringing along the rest of the stuff scattered across his bed too.

Stunned, he held the bed there for a few more seconds till he realized he was still holding the bed and put the bed back down.

'Guess these do work then.'
