Shower of Lights

Hello, my name is Yuki. I am 22 years old. Living with my parents here away from the crowded city of Tokyo, Japan. I am taking an engineering degree at a university here in Tokyo. I have a cat and I named her Kira. She's pretty cute and lovely. Also, I am not a fan of a big circle of friends. I only have a handful of them. Well, they are, Sato my childhood friend and Aiya, my high school buddy. Weird things happen a lot to me but, this weird stuff can't get any weirder than this. Here's my story goes...

Today, I was on my way to our favorite restaurant to meet with my friends. Kira will always follow me wherever I go.

"Hey Kira, You're following me again, huh?" talking to my cat like she's some kind of human. "Yes, I will always follow you Yuki." a mysterious voice I never heard before. I was looking at Kira and she acting, well, like a cat always do. Nothing weird. "Did my cat just talked or what?" strangely asked myself in my head. Maybe I am just hungry to notice that is late in the afternoon and I haven't take any meals.

Hmm, seems like my friends are late this time so I proceed with ordering our favorite food. Since Aiya told us she can't come today, I am expecting to see Sato here later.

"Can I have 2 orders of ramen?" I asked the waiter.

"Are you sure that's enough for the three of you?" the waiter asked.

"Oh. Aiya can't make it today so it's only me and Sato for this one" I replied.

Sato is running very late now. I decided to eat my food while it's hot. While I was eating, a sudden cold breeze of wind struck my skin. It's really strange because I am eating indoors. Neither the door nor windows are open at the moment. As I looked around, people seemed to stare at me. The stare in their eyes feels like I'm a ghost here eating. I was feeling okay when suddenly, somebody whispered to my ears with a cold voice almost like a ghost.

"Yuki, you have to order more than that. You know a single order for me isn't enough" a cold and ghostly voice whispering. I immediately look back. It was Sato! He likes to scare me in any circumstances.

"Damn it, Sato! You got me there! Please don't do that again!" I yell with frustration.

We are busy chattering about the recent examination. I asked him about his thoughts about the exam and he said he is quite doubtful about the results. What a humble person. Sato always tops the score in every examination and different subjects.

Later, after we're done some chit-chats, we decide to go home now to take a rest. Kira showed up. Oh, this cat always here to guide me. "Hello there kitty, how are you today?" Sato petting her.

Before we part ways, a mysterious bright light started to shower above the skies. It was so beautiful. I have never seen anything like this before even on the internet!

"Can we agree that this is the most beautiful thing we ever witness for a while?" I agreed, nodding, speechless because of the amazement. Suddenly, a bright spark lit the sky. It was a blinding light with an eerie sound spreading.

"Well, this is not the part where I told you that is beautiful. This is terrifying!" he shouted. I can barely hear him because of the eerie sound that the light produced.

"We need to go home now Sato. I feel something strange about this". He agreed and we immediately proceed going home. As I am approaching near our house, I feel something off and I saw Kira on the front porch. That is strange as I look by my side, there is Kira too. Before heading in, Kira was trying to block me from entering the house but I must find out why there is another cat in this house. We finally inside the house but it's empty. I can't feel the presence of my parents. Strangely, they rarely leave the house. I searched in every room but I can't find any answers. I decide to sit down on the couch and have a breather. When I was trying to stand to head in my room to have some rest, I am already fast asleep.

Lights break out as the sun begins to rise. I can hear the sound of the birds chirping. Little did I notice a familiar face looking at me.

"Hmm excuse me? Do I know you?" This question alone makes me wonder, why would my mother ask something about that anyways. I don't think she's messing around because of the tone of her voice.

"It's me, Yuki!" I replied. I take the time to observe her face and seems like she's a bit younger than I used to know. Nonetheless, I notice a slight awkward scar on her cheeks which is new to me.

"Yuki? Sorry. I don't know anyone named Yuki around here." She is really confused but at the same time, she's looking at me like she knows me. Of course, she knows who am I. I am her daughter, but why doesn't she remember me?

"Mom, it's me. Your only daughter. Where have you been? Last night I came home and nobody is home". I replied with a worry-some face gesture.

"Mom? Daughter? What?" She is surprised by what I just said. So, I explain it to her. After that, she sat on the couch, crying, in total disbelief of what is happening. I took advantage of the time and call Sato about this.

"Sato, where are you? Meet me at the restaurant. I have something to tell you that you won't believe it!" - "Ok Yuki, I'm on my way"

I told my mom to stay inside the house and I proceed on meeting Sato at the restaurant. While walking, I can notice the surrounding is a bit odd, strange to feel. People around me seemed very unfamiliar like I don't even recognize some and before I reach the restaurant, weird things keep on coming.
