He grabbed her hand which held the bracelet, his lucid eyes eyeing the bracelet over and over again, sure was something overwhelming to see but this was quite the ludicrous act if to say.
"Where did you get this from? Who gave it to you?" The Sage threw questions at Chan Juan, his inquisitiveness was something she couldn't deny.
"A servant unknowingly dropped it here..." Chan Juan gave a rather simpler answer, she was way too lazy to start explaining.
His eyes widened like humongous berries of skepticism and was utterly dumbstruck.
"You've seen her? Did she give you this bracelet? Ah finally!"
"Huh?" Chan Juan was looking so confused like a husband trying to figure out why his wife is giving him the silent treatment.
The Old Sage took few steps backwards, and straightened up his gait, before speaking,
"You've just begun a journey, I hope you're prepared to finish it because it's your fate." He said with no remorse and left.
"Wait, what?"
Chan Juan gaped in bewilderment for she does not understand a thing that he said, it was like an enigma.
"Does anything never becomes more of a mystery here? So frustrating! This house is a looking-glass" Chan Juan groaned.
Walking out of the temple with Old Hee, sucking in a tremendous amount of the autumn wind, such great feeling. The sun was setting already, her family must have left long ago, all she needed to do now was to put Old Hee to bed, go back to her room, take a cold shower and possibly cuddle her pillow, to sleep.
Chan Juan pictured herself in comfort but it was all ruined when she opened her eyes and saw the strapping figure of Shao Jinhai approaching them, Chan Juan's expression became sour, like that of a kid who unknowingly tasted lime. Chan Juan was intending to turn around and take another route, to avoid speaking with him,
"You don't have to avoid me."
Damn! How did he know?
Chan Juan thought innerly but on the outside, she had the 'whatever look on.
"I came looking for you." Shao Jinhai uttered
A bell rang in Chan Juan's head,
Looking for me? Did he say he was looking for me?
Like he read her mind already,
"Don't fantasize too much, dinner is at the courtyard."
"Dinner? Wait, like a family dinner?"
Shao Jinhai's expression darkened,
"Yes," he replied succinctly, not sparing her a glance.
Chan Juan's rage builds up like deep water currents, unleashed without thoughts of consequences, she had done everything to avoid them, now a family dinner; but on the outside, she had a calm look, all cool demeanor.
"Okay then, I'll put Old Hee to bed first."
She said and was about to go when Shao Jinhai held back her hand.
"You!" Chan Juan exclaimed, trying to get away from his malicious grip, it wasn't actually, he just had big hands.
Shao Jinhai placed his index finger on his lips signalling her to keep shut, Chan Juan distorted.
Using his pristine fingers to slowly push away the large part of her hair behind her shoulder, giving her neck a better view.
Chan Juan was already jelly from his mere touch, and the gentle breath of his, over her shoulder, she blinked twice and came back to her senses.
"What are you doing Shao Jinhai?" Chan Juan asked,
"Eish, just keep quiet. Does your neck hurt?" He whispered, running his thumb over her pearly white neck.
"No... And get your hands off me!" Chan Juan gritted, if it was a random guy at any random place, she would have given him the taste of her fist.
But the man before her was a major, the apparent heir to the Shao Conglomerate; even if, he will surely get his piece, and she would certainly do him the honour one day, Chan Juan surmised.
Shao Jinhai straightened up, this time his face was like an ice sculptured statue,
Chan Juan arched a brow,
This man is something else, one time he's soft and the other, he's like a hard rock. Chan Juan thought innerly.
"Okay, make sure you aren't late, and get yourself something good to wear, you wouldn't want to attend a family dinner looking like a countryside bumpkin, would you?" Shao Jinhai smirked.
Chan Juan's expression saddened;
He's such a shameless savage, Chan Juan was about to give him an idoneous response when someone called his name from behind.
It was the pretty lady from before, Chan Juan watched her sashay towards them, holding Shao Jinhai's hand right before her eyes, but he slipped his hands away from hers afterwards.
"Too bad, Elder brother Jinhai wouldn't introduce me to his new bride, I feel offended." Ming Yue lamented. Shao Jinhai had an expression of indifference as Ming Yue spoke,
"Anyways, I'm Ming Yue" The pretty lady introduced herself, Chan Juan did well to reciprocate the humour.
"Guo Daiyu..."
"I'm very familiar with that name, never knew I would see you in person. Heard a lot about you." Ming Yue said emphasising on her statement.
Chan Juan tried her best to maintain her cool, it's not easy claiming someone else's identity, she will flee from this city once Guo Daiyu is found, her thoughts spiralled, Chan Juan gave her a foxy smile, already figuring out her motive.
She's bound to be angry and jealous to see her once betrothed married to another woman.
Now she will do anything at slightest opportunity to disqualify her in Shao Jinhai's presence since she's Guo Daiyu now, the city's bitch, Chan Juan was beginning to regret her decision.
"I think I'll leave first." Shao Jinhai said and left.
Ming Yue moved closer to Chan Juan, like a vampire aiming the neck of its prey, but Chan Juan was smart enough to dodge the attack.
Ming Yue stamped her feet on the floor, she was about to give her a piece of her mind, she thought.
"The silly girl rebuffed me!" Ming Yue exclaimed with a dissatisfied expression.
Dai Meng walked up to Ming Yue and stood next to her while watching Chan Juan as she walked into the mansion until her outline faded before their eyes.
"Cough...cough erm, that girl is surely not what she seems, I'm afraid you'll not be able to tame her. It looks like Shao Jinhai is growing affection for her, I mean they were too close for my liking... Hehe." Dai Meng bantered.
"Shut the crap!" Ming Yue exclaimed and screeched, and she left in annoyance. Dai Meng shrugged and followed her to the courtyard.
