A Gathering of Magicians

As she organize the files on the computer, Lotus grumbled in dismay. Despite being called away for a conference, the only thing that happened as she was dragged away by Yuu was that she was then spotted and dragged away by the nurse. Turns out, the nurse had to be present at the conference, but, due to having a report to give, he could not be in two places at once. That was, until he found her and plopped her into this room! She knew the nurse's temper and knew that he just wanted to take this chance to slack off rather than do his job. So, she was just his replacement in organizing everything and preparing a brief report for him. What a slavedriver!

After a while, Lotus could hear the voices of despair and irritation as she quickly typed out a quick report. It was only after she finished it did the nurse came in with a few students. She frowned. Turns out, one of them was a very disgruntled beastman with cheetah ears and tail.

She yawned wearily, "Oh, hey, Zack! What's up this time? Someone stepped on your tail? You fell off the broom? Or did you picked a fight?"

"Wah! Lotus?!" He grimaced, "Why's it got to be you again? Also, what's up with those questions? It's not like I come to the infirmary often."

"Don't you?" Lotus huffed in annoyance as she rested her chin on the back of the chair, "The last time you came in, someone slipped off their broom and used your tail as a rope. We had to send you to the emergency hospital for stitches. Two months later, you came back after falling out of a window and landed on your shoulder. Well, you did saved a dormmate who was primary victim there. You were just collateral cause you prevented a more serious injury from occurring. Then, two days later, you didn't drink enough water while studying and fell off your broom-!"

"Okay! Okay! I get it! Geez... Why are you even here again?" Zack covered his cheetah ears in irritation.

"I don't know. Ask him." She grumbled and punched the stapler into the stack of papers.

"Why is he here?" The other students grumbled.

After tossing it to the nurse, she yawned, "Either way, the conference is over, so I'm gonna treat ya'all while he looks through that. So I'm your nurse for today. Sit down on the table or I'm glueing you all on there!"

"Why should I listen to you?" The other shouted.

She pointed to the student, "Perfect Response! Huh. I didn't think you'd be capable of answering your own question in one sentence. However, I got no candy to give you."

"You-!"

Lotus huffed is disdain and grabbed the other students by the collar before throwing them onto the beds. She scowled at them and pointed to each one of them one at a time, "Keep talking if you want your jaw to dislocate. Try throwing a punch if you want to dislocate your shoulder. As for you, sit down."

The third Pomefiore student stood back up, but she quickly forced his rear back down with a swift tap to the back of his neck got him sitting back down again! He looked to her in disbelief and cried out, "Help! I can't get back up!"

They looked to the nurse who was busy reading her papers as Lotus grumbled in dismay and filled out more papers, "Sulfuric breath, stinks like sulfur too, and bags under the eyes. Great, he also has acid reflux on top of a twisted shoulder. He should have came by earlier for the medicine and a change of diet. The nurse can prescribe you medicine and give you instructions for a new diet. Also, go to sleep early tonight after you take your medicine and stop picking fights when you are sleep deprived. Next time this happens, you won't feel your shoulder anymore."

"Eh-! Y-Yes, sir!" The third kid clamped his mouth shut in confusion as she ignored him.

After treating the other two, she turned to Zack and pulled his ear as she dragged him to the overly used chair, "As for you, sit there and reflect on yourself! There are other ways to stop a fight than joining them!"

Zack grumbled in dismay as he responded, "Ugh… But they threw the first punch."

Lotus scowled, "What?"

"N-Nothing!"

It was then that the door opened as Three familiar figures came into the room.

"Again?!" Riddle scolded his freshman.

Vil sighed is disdain as he added, "So uncivilized… Leona, this is your freshman. Do something about it."

Leona glared at Zack and huffed, "Are you deaf? I said, if there's a fight, follow your instinct and just watch it play out."

"Seriously?" Vil grumbled disappointed.

Peony glared at Vil with a scowl, "Pomefiore dormleader, please stay behind later."

"Huh?"

Ignoring him, she continued, "Riddle-senpai- Ah, dormleader Rosehearts, please have him keep his mouth shut for the rest of the day, aside from meal time and bedtime. If something as crazy as being unable to close his jaw or open his jaw occurs, bring him here right away or to Ramshackle dorm. A blow nearly unhinged his jaw earlier. If he goes so far as to open his jaw far too wide, such situations will occur. If nothing else, he doesn't need to come back. Also, don't forget, we don't offer deals or favors, especially not pocket money, from your students for… Ahem, collar removers."

Ignoring Riddle's annoyed expression, She turned to Leona, "Dorm leader Kingscholar…. Just take the kid back home."

"That's it?"

"You want anything else? We don't offer anything but treatment and medicine. Especially not treatment that takes possession of an entire infirmary bed for 'recuperative' rests." She huffed in dismay and turned to the nurse, "Nurse, are you still not finished?"

"Ah, I am!" The nurse puts the paper aside and took Lotus's report.

As the other two begrudgingly took their freshmen away holding ice packs, she left the room leaving Vil to discuss matters with the nurse.

As soon as she made it back to the dorms, she packed her belongings just as her motherstone sounded. She took it out as Zhang Li's voice sounded, "Master. It looks like the school is planning to attend a gathering with other schools."

"I see." Lotus grumbled in dismay upon hearing this, "It looks like the student council is sure having some fun."

"The destination is Fleur City's Nobel Bell College."

Lotus was left in deep contemplation before she responded, "Have Zhang Yong remain here with Huo Wei. I shall send you to Fleur City first."

 "Fleur City?"

"I need you to find information regarding the movement of the school during these past few years. This includes during the time when my master was still present. Remember, don't be reckless. You are still new to this world. It will be a problem if you get caught in a trap." She warned, "When you're done, come find me. I'll give you more details."

 "Yes, sir."

With that said, the call ended. Lotus turned to the table and saw the blue notebook and purple flower. She softly touched the purple flower's leaves and opened the notebook once more. As she finished writing in it, Zhang Li appeared before her as she saluted, "Master."

"That was fast." Lotus closed the book and put it away, "As you know, I was taught by a handful of people with few whom I call masters. A few years ago, one of them left promising they would return. But, they never did. He's never one to break a promise nor was he one who would let his students become involved with his matters. A soft-hearted fool who would not involve children no matter how dire the situation becomes. A couple weeks ago, he finally contacted us. However, it was a message for aid. In three days, I will officially arrive in Fleur City after my debut. However, I want you to arrive earlier and gather information of the present situation."

"However, to gather information on such a short notice."

Lotus shook her head, "It will not be too difficult at all. You are not required to dig too deep. I doubt you can find his current location. As for other information, he is the headmaster of Nobel Bell College. He was born bearing much physical disabilities sourced from his bone development and structures. Despite this, he is very intellectual and knowledgeable in the arts of defensive magic. In the board of education, the headmasters of Nobel Bell College also have the duty to fulfill as a judge. Thus, the position and succession are very important in this matter. When it comes to our movement, he and the president of the board should be well-versed in it."

"Are all schools tied in this way?" Zhong Li looked to her in surprise.

"In this world, there is no upper realms. All schools should have ties to the board or are a part of their districts. With what I now remember, my schools have ties to the board as well due to my association with their president. Zhong Li, you're task is to find out about the current state of the school and the city. My master is well known for being fair and bold. He also detests political fights."

"If such a man was truly unfeeling, he would not have agreed to become a headmaster, but to be a headmaster despite detesting political fights..." Zhang Li muttered in confusion.

Lotus nodded, "With his position, he has seen a fair share of his own political fights. It is strange for him to hold a festival so out of season."

"Unless it wasn't him who decided it." Zhang Li concluded in bewilderment.

Lotus nodded, "At night, I need you to go take a look into the City Hall. Sneak into the record room and find documents recorded the last three to four years from the school and my master. Last I checked, Fleur City Mayor should not have changed since the last six years. This time, walk up to the front desk and present this to the manager."

She gave the attendant a piece of paper along with a letter and a trinket. Opening the small piece of paper, the attendant was confused, "A seal?"

"Take the seal and request an immediate audience with the city mayor. If they resist, do what you want, but do not incite violence. If all else fail, say..."

Lotus whispered into the servant's ear as Zhang Li nodded carefully, "Yes, master."

"The event will also be the day of topsy turvy day. A day where the lines of ranks are erased and people are allowed to dress up and pretend whoever they like. In this event, it would be the easiest to blend in. We will see each other in three days. Keep an eye out for anymore assassins too."

 "Yes, Master!"

Lotus nodded and began to teleport the girl, "Be careful."

As the girl nodded, she vanished before Lotus's eyes. With a nod, she double checked her bags. A butterfly flew down onto her outstretched palm as she grumbled from hearing the news, "A symposium? This..."

The butterfly flew back as Lotus grumbled, "A symposium. That sounds like something he would do, but it's difficult to get Night Raven College in on this."

Suddenly, Crystal whispered something to her as she paused with a thoughtful look, "This... Royal Sword Academy is invited as well... No. This is definitely not his doing. Like I thought, he's out of commission. Rather than a gathering of schools, this is more like a gathering of magicians... I don't like the sound of this."
