Chapter One: “Family Reunion”

I haven't been to Boston in a long time now, I haven't seen my family and friends since. I have this amazing job as a Novel Author in L.A. and finally I saved up enough money to go visit for the first time in five years.

I was born and raised in Boston, until five years ago I moved away to L.A. to pursue my dreams of becoming a Novel Author. The first year two years I lived in L.A. I had a lot of money problems, but since I had great success in my new novel "Loving You" three years ago, I haven't had any money problems since.

My parents hate that I haven't visited them these past five years, I didn't tell them that I had lost my job three years ago. I was ashamed. Only my friend Christopher knew all about my problems, my childhood crush, I tell him everything, he even helped me pay my bills a couple of times. Cristopher and I have been friends for 15 years now, I haven't seen him since he got married six years ago, he's not married anymore because his wife died in a car accident three years ago. He's always busy, in these past few months he hasn't been picking up any of my calls, I don't know why, I imagine this is the busy life of a millionaire. I hope going to Boston to see my best friend will make me understand what has been going on.

I arrived at Boston, hoping some of my friends remembered to pick me up from the airport to take me to my parents house, but I was mostly expecting Chris. Nobody came, I guess they just forgot. As I was looking for a cab I saw him, Christopher, standing at the other side of the street, with flowers in his left hand and waving at me with the other. As he walked closer, I started to red. I couldn't believe he remembered, walking towards me with that handsome smile.

-"Hi Lily" he said.

-"Hi Chris" I answered, while he grabbed my hand and pulled me closer towards him as he gives me a kiss on the cheek, and hugs me.

As we got on his car, I couldn't stop looking at him, I was so happy he remembered that I was arriving to Boston today. He looked at me and said that I looked beautiful, the last time I heard him say that was to his wife years ago, but never to me.

We got to my parents house and I saw my brother's White Mercedes parked on the front lawn, he had told me that he was out of town, but I guess he wanted to surprise me after a long time of not seeing each other. Chris got off the car, dropped my bags on the cement and opened the door for me. He followed me to the door as he was ready to say goodbye, I asked him if he wanted to stay and greet my brother and my parents, he said yes.

I knocked on my parents door and a young beautiful woman opened and asked if I was looking for someone, I told her that this is my parents house, she let me in and I finally saw them, dancing with this loud music and my brother was in the bar serving some of his famous drinks, I was happy.

My mom saw me and ran towards me with tears on her face, I started crying as well. My dad hugged me so hard I couldn't breath, he almost cried but he didn't as the man he is, and my brother put down his mojito and ran to hug me as well, we were all crying. Christopher interrupted our moment to greet everyone, as I still didn't know who the woman that opened the door for me was, I asked my brother Sam if she was his girlfriend and he said yes. I hugged her as I said, "welcome to the family".

As my brother was serving Chris a drink, my mother came close to me and asked me if Chris was dating someone, I didn't know what to say. Chris grabbed his drink and came to me and asked me if I wanted to dance, I said, "yes" and he pulled me were my parents were dancing earlier and said.

-"You look beautiful, Lily".

-"Thank you, you look handsome yourself too, have you been training?" I asked.

-"yes" he answered as he laughed to my question.

As the night ended and it was time for Chris to leave, he asked me if I wanted to have breakfast tomorrow at his house to catch up, I accepted his invitation.
