Change Of Plans

The rest of the day was odd.. I didn't know what it was but it felt like something was going to happen any second.

Recess was currently announced.

"Hey Craig.... We are going to head out... Why don't you go talk to Jessica."

Said Clyde nudging my ribs.

I sighed realizing what he was doing.

I walk up to Jessica.  While looked up I see Mr. Garrison glaring at me.

'There's that uneasy feeling I had before... Why is he looking at me like that?'

"Come on Jess...."

I hold my hand out.

She didn't look up at him while she grabbed my hand.

When she stood up I glared at Mr. garrison while wrapping my arm around her back.

He looked beyond pissed as his upper lip twitched. He was tapping on his desk while looking at her.

'What the fuck is his problem?'

When we got out of the class. She sighed in relief.

"Thank you." She softly said as if she was afraid he would hear. 

"What does he do when people aren't around?"

"He talks about what happens at my house and that he's here for me. He said if I don't feel safe, I should come over to his place."

I tensed up feeling completely flabbergasted.

'Whoa.... No way... No teacher should be saying that kinda shit.'

"Jess.. I don't want you alone with him.... I don't have a good feeling. There's something off."

She nodded.

"I know. But it's difficult."

It was quiet walking in the hallway until..

"Craig... Can I ask you something? "

"Yeah.. What is it?"

"Why did you help me with Eric and the teacher? It's not like you to step up for others."

I look over at her with my hands in pockets.

"I just thought you could use the help considering no one else would."

She hid under face with her scarf even more.

I see her exposed face super red.

"Thank you."

"No problem."

"So..... Was what Clyde say was true? You.... Like me? "

I stopped walking while feeling completely unaware what I should say.

"I uhh....."

"Because if you did and you asked me out... I wouldn't say no...."

I felt my face heat up as the pit in my stomach hit hard again.

'Maybe this is what needs to happen... Kyle's not a part of her life, he's safe. But her.... She will be with me and I'll for sure to keep her safe..'

I slowly grab her hand seeing her stop in the hallway too while looking up at me.

"Yeah you caught me.. I really like you. I guess since you said it. Would you want to go out with me?"

I see her eyes widen but soften shortly after.

"I'd like that."
