Twin Connection

Rowan wanted to say something, but he couldn't even open his mouth.

"If you're thinking of that poison, yes. It's the same one you taught me."

In coming up with a plan in fighting stronger beings than they were at the time, Rowan used knowledge from his previous life as a chemist before being reincarnated in this world.

Rowan found a plant that was similar to curare which could be grounded into a thick paste and be applied on blades or arrow tips. It was a paralytic agent. However, what made this plant so rare in this magical world was that it was non-magical.

In this magical world, magic elements can be found in the air and so living organisms like animals and plants absorb them. Some have evolved to be dependent on breathing these magic elements that they will die once the mana core is extracted from them.

As such, magic weapons and equipment could be made from parts of animals and plants can be used to make potions or herb mixes. Some potions can apply paralysis as a magical effect which can also be countered by magical resistances.

The plant Rowan made was non-magical in nature and so would bypass those resistances. He found that most drugs made in this world were actually magic drugs.

Using [Cure] or [Cleanse] would not remove the paralysis because it was not a "status effect." The paralysis is a result of molecules blocking the nerve impulses at the neuromuscular junction by depolarising the sarcolemma of the skeletal muscle fibre.

Only by using certain spells like [Detox] would help since they specifically remove or destroy foreign particles in the body. Spells like these were rare in strong battle-focused opponents as they wouldn't waste levels learning healing spells like these. Hence, this drug was highly effective.

He purified and super concentrated the neuromuscular-blocking drug.

The resulting drug was so potent that a giant's heart would stop once the drug reached the heart from the cardiovascular system, give, or take a few seconds depending on where the injection site was.

In addition, they stored magic spells into magic potions and added those various potions to the poison. The concoction was a biological and magical poison that could paralyse the muscles and prevent the moulding and accumulation of mana, effectively disabling magic power. It was also mixed with several debuff effects.

Rowan wasn't worried about the poison being used against himself since only Walter knew about it but also because, with his void barrier, all attacks would be sent to the void when they passed through the barrier.

Walter knew this and so he had to wait for Rowan to lower his guard. For Rowan to put his arm around Walter's shoulder, he had to disable his void barrier and magic shield.

*Crash*

The door to the throne room was kicked open and a group of the divine judgement soldiers appeared at the door with the Pope of the Church of Light standing at the front. The elites rushed in and surrounded both Rowan and Walter.

*Clink*

A small metal vial from Walter's hand that wasn't holding the sword dropped to the ground. A drop of purple liquid spilled from it.

Walter's god slaying blade was coated with Rowan's blood and the purple poison. It was extremely thick and viscous like honey.

The divine judgement squad split into three groups and stood at three points around Rowan. They chanted and after a while, a prism of light appeared over Rowan.

It was the [Tri-Field of Divine Light]. Any being with a negative karma rating would be severely weakened and damaged while in this field.

Most spells and skills were disabled, and physical attributes were debuffed. Evil aligned beings would move terribly slow and lose most of their strength while in this field. Some spells that weren't disabled had their magical effect and duration halved while their cooldowns were doubled.

This spell was strong but was not without weaknesses, for something like this to affect the demon Lord they needed individuals of strong faith to cast the spell. The Pope and the cardinals were standing at the three corners of the triangular field sustaining it while the archbishops were supporting. The priests were buffing them while the Holy Knights were closely watching Rowan.

If Rowan wasn't paralysed, with his speed and spatial spells he wouldn't have been easily caught by this spell.

Walter was sent to destroy the Church of Light. They seem to be perfectly fine. In fact, the pope, archbishops, and cardinals were so full of vigour that they had twisted smiles on their faces.

They looked like they were mocking at a rat which they were about to drop the guillotine on. Such revolting faces contradicted the extravagant white and gold holy robes they wore.

Another weakness of this spell was that the larger the area of coverage, the weaker it is, but fortunately for them, Rowan wasn't moving. Since the area of coverage was so small, the spell was tenfold stronger than it usually was.

They were confident that Rowan would meet his end.

It was also good that he had killed the Hero. If the Hero was still alive, they would have to hide every time he came around. Now that he was gone, they would be unrestricted much earlier than they had expected.

"I guess you're surprised because you didn't think I would betray you since I killed my sister a year ago," Walter said as he remembered his sister lying down in a field of grass in the prairie.

He had pointed the sword at her.

"I didn't mention it to you before, but my sister and I had the same talent."

Some individuals were blessed with talents, it was a unique skill one was born with.

"[Twin Connection]. We could communicate by telepathy."

Rowan's eyes opened a little wider.

"At that time, I was about to turn against you but she…"

"No brother! You'll only get yourself killed!"

"You're my sister! I promised mother and father that I would- "

"Walter… You're the only person that is close to the Demon Lord. You have to wait for an opportunity when he is at his weakest."

"But even so!"

"You've always been more rational than me. You know that this is the only way."

"So, you're saying I should stain my sword with the blood of my sister!"

"…"

Walter's face was twisted. Rowan was watching him 5 metres south-east. He began to look worried as he watched the side of Walter's face.
