First Dungeon Mob Encounter

"Well… I'm not complaining." He said with a greedy grin on his face.

Elijah bought four lesser healing potions. He felt like he had found a loophole in the system.

He then went to his inventory.

Last he checked, there were ten square spaces on the inventory screen. Now the first square contained a kitchen knife, and the ampules occupied the next four.

He sent a command to take one of them out of his inventory but nothing happened.

'Maybe it's like a touchscreen?'

Elijah tried tapping one of the boxes, but his finger went inside. Although the screen was transparent, he couldn't see his finger on the other side!

He put his entire hand in and grabbed hold of something small. The screen in contact with his wrist shimmered as bright blue pixels. He pulled his hand out and saw that he was holding an ampule.

The inventory block where he took it out was now empty.

"Cool." Elijah whistled.

'It's like a portal on the other side of the hologram.'

"Hmmm. How do you use it?"

The glass ampule was a cylinder at the bottom half which narrowed into a thin neck and curved out into a cone shape at the top.

It looked like some fancy glassware from a chemistry lesson in science class.

He couldn't find a lid around it anywhere, then knowledge seemed to sink into his mind.

Elijah grabbed the cone bit and snapped the glass neck.

"Uhhh. Thanks."

Elijah didn't know if the knowledge came from the System in him or from holding onto the magic potion. Funny. He always imagined the System was watching him from the skies.

'Is the System inside me? Or outside?' He pondered.

Elijah sniffed the ampule.

"Raspberry?"

That was surprising. He thought it would smell like medicine or maybe even blood in the worst scenario.

He took a sip.

+10 HP

'Hmm. Not bad…"

There was a raspberry note to it. It wasn't strong like syrup and the solution had hints of sweetness and tartness. It wasn't as tasty as raspberry cream soda and one could liken it to raspberry flavored water.

He put the neck of the glass to his lips and dipped his head backward.

+90 HP

Health: 168/450

He drank the rest of the ampules in his inventory while he watched his health go up.

Elijah then looked at his surroundings. It was completely dark. He couldn't see his two hands in front of him.

He thought that the System's screen would light up the darkness, but only he could see it. It emitted no light in reality.

He checked the Shop under the "equipment" tab but didn't find what he was looking for. Then he found it in "items" under non-consumables.

[Torch]: A lit torch. Used as a light source - 1 credit.

There were more details that he hadn't noticed before next to the items.

Rarity: None.

Type: Tool.

Elijah bought the torch and then took it out from his inventory. The flame lit up the cave.

When it came out, he had flinched because the fire appeared close to his face when he pulled it out. The torch didn't suddenly light up on fire; it was already on fire when he took it out of the inventory space.

He then looked around the place.

The torch had an effective radius of 5 meters. From 5 to 10 meters, it was difficult to see things in the distance, but it was possible to differentiate a figure from the background. After ten meters, one could blend in with the shadows.

This seemed dangerous. Although, it should be a low-level dungeon. The darkness wasn't too bad as long as he had a torch.

Low visibility was an environmental hazard that was easier to deal with than the volcanic heat, frost-bite cold, poisonous atmosphere or traps, etc.

The next worry was what monsters will he encounter? They should be weak monsters since it's his first dungeon, and he was low level.

He was in a large round space, and behind him was a dead end. There were three long passages in the walls. One in front and two by the sides.

Elijah remembered getting a lot of notifications earlier but didn't have the chance to check them.

"Quest."

The quest menu popped up, and he checked the notifications.

[Hidden Quest Completed!]

Hidden Quest: [Bunta's Retribution]

Mission completed: Deliver Bunta's retribution on the Itachi's family murdering dogs.

No. of killer dogs eliminated 2/2.

Rewards: Charisma +5.

"Bunta? Who's that?"

Elijah wondered if the father of the two boys he fought was Bunta, and if he did him a favor by killing those dogs. Could those dogs have anything to do with why his personality was so aggressive? Or was it he hadn't met Bunta yet?

"Charisma… That's for charm or good looks right?"

He wasn't sure what was the point of that but didn't complain if he had actually gotten more handsome. Unfortunately, he didn't have a mirror on him.

Before he could check his status to learn about his new skills, he heard footsteps approaching. If it wasn't for the silence of the cave, he wouldn't have heard these light footsteps.

*Tap tap tap*

It sounded like bare feet walking.

It was outside the torch's light. He stared into the darkness waiting for it to come out.

*Snort*

"Hehihihi!"

There was a small green creature that stepped out of the darkness. It was the size of a child but didn't look young at all. It had long pointy ears and a nose. Furthermore, it held a small club and grinned at him maliciously.

It was a goblin.
