WAKE UP! WAKE UP! I opened my eyes and swatted the alarm clock halfway across the room then groaned loudly.

Honestly, alarm clocks are so annoying , all they do is make unnecessary noise for thirty minutes and cause problems.

5...4....3...2...1

"Hayley! Up! Up!up!!" Carolyn , my best and only friend here yelled shaking me roughly.

"Carolyn, not everyone wants to get up early and go for a run."I told her .

"Just come on." She said rolling her eyes at me unnecessarily.

"I am not getting up."I said.

" Hayley , I will tell everyone your middle name if you don't get up in five seconds . One , two , three, four - "

I sprung out of bed quickly and started bouncing on the spot.

"Try to keep up."I said running out the door.

Within minutes, we are standing in the back yard, looking at the entrance to the forest beyond.

"First one there and back gets one month free tv time." Carolyn said running off and shifting in to her grey fur , blue eyed wolf in mid - air.

I ran behind her in human form not wanting to shift so early and waste all that energy. Carolyn was leading by about eight meters but I know that I'll catch her soon enough.

On my way back to the pack house, I saw Carolyn in her human form talking to a vampire guy. " Carolyn, who is this?"I asked walking over to her.

"He's my mate."she replied.

"But the rules Carolyn, if they find out they'll kill you." I reminded her.

Her mate hissed at me and I growled at him. I respect him for caring about his mate but I don't like people hissing or growling at me, higher rank or not.

" When you find your mate, you will know what it's like." Carolyn said looking at her mate one last time.

"He can visit you at night Carolyn , let's go." I said.

She left him hesitantly and looked at me angrily.

"He's so hot!" Carolyn shouted fanning her self.

"Yup I'm sure he is now let's go before breakfast ends." I said shifting quickly with her following suit.

My fur is almost jet black but has a streak of blue running through it. My eyes turns Amber gold but I don't have some one else in my head telling me what I should or shouldn't do.

We made it back in the backyard just before breakfast.

I shifted back to human form and put on the set of clothes I left there yesterday.

Some of the marks on my back and left shoulder and down my arm but I couldn't care less about that because I'm only focusing on the scent of smoke and rain.

I searched for the source of the smell until my eyes landed on Alec Red , the future beta of the pack. He leaned off the wall and walked over to me.

"I , Alec Red , future beta of the Red Wood pack, reject you, Hayley..... as my mate and future female beta of my pack."

"I, Hayley , accept your rejection." I said weakly.

Immediately , a pain shot through me and I gripped my ribs tightly. " Do you need help?"he asked. "I'm fine."I replied walking away slowly.

I entered the house and ran up to mine and Carolyn's room and locked the door.

I sat down against it and let the tears fall not bothering to wipe them away.

"Hayley, open the door please, I hear you crying."

What does he want?

"What do you want?" I asked him softly through my sobs.

"I just want to explain myself." He said.

I stood up and opened the door and let him in.

"Explain."I said coldly.

"I have always wanted a mate since I was a kid but now I'm in love with someone else." He said.

"Who is she?"I asked him.

"It's Whitney." He replied dreamily.

Whitney?! Whitney sleeps with a new guy every single day and she hated me for some reason.

"So ... You love Whitney? "He nodded, " What about me huh? Did you think of the pain that I'll be going through?!"

"Hayley I -"

"I have to get ready for school."I said walking into the bathroom.

I walked along the hallway with a hoodie over my head and a shade glasses over my eyes.

"Girl look at this." Carolyn said shoving her phone in my face.

I took the shades off and stared at the video of my rejection blankly.

"Yes that happened , so what?"

"The other one." She said.

I scrolled up and saw a video of Alec kissing Whitney with the caption ' love of my life ' below it.

"So..?"I asked trying hard not to cry. She pulled me into a hug and rubbed my back comfortingly.

" It's okay, we will get through this." She whispered in my ear.

"He ... Didn't even wait a little bit..." I sobbed.

"Shhhhh. I know, I know. How about we go out ?" She asked, " Burger King."

I stopped crying and looked at her brightly. " Yaaaassssirrrrr." I said putting my shades back on and linking my arm with hers.

She always knows how to cheer me up. No matter what the situation is and I'm grateful for her.

"I'm stuffed." I said patting my belly.

"I don't know how you eat all this stuff and still has a flat belly and curves." She said burping in her fist.

"Me neither, now let's go back to school before we get punished for missing more than one class."I said.

We stood up and walked out the door. We got into my silver and blue Lamborghini Gallardo and drove back to school.

"Why are you two late?" Mr . Matt asked us.

"Burger King." Half the class along with with us replied.

This is not the first time that we have done this , it is the fifteenth

time we have done this and I'm surprised he doesn't get that by now.

Carolyn and I took our seats at the back and started chatting about random stuff.

"So I'm thinking about getting green hair." She said popping her bubble gum.

"No I think you should dye it purple, it will go with your eyes."I said.

"Well okay . We will go there after dinner." She said.

"Carolyn and Hayley, pay attention!" Mr. Matt yelled.

"How rude?"I asked.

"Very." Carolyn replied.

I am dreading lunch time because everyone will be starting at me and whispering to each other.

"It'll be fine." Carolyn said, "I got you."

I smiled at her and we walked in the cafeteria. Everyone looked at us and started whispering not even a second after.

We ignored them and walked up to the lunch lady.

I walked pass Alec and his friends hearing the future alpha, Jax, whisper to his friends.

"They bad girls dude." He said to them. The others wolfed whistled at us but we payed them no mind.

"Can I get three slices of pizza?"I asked the lunch lady.

"Of course Hayley." She replied smiling at us. I took the tray from her and handed her the money.

"Where is she !" Whitney yelled blocking out the question mark with her squeaky voice.

"Man I'mma need hearing aids." Carolyn said to me.

"Let's pick some up after we dye your hair."I said .

Whitney started walking up to me , her heels clicking against the marble floor.

"He chose me over you." She said.

"I know Whitney, I was there."I said calmly.

"Well don't you feel anything?" She asked.

"I did feel hurt yesterday and this morning but I got over it." I shrugged.

"Shouldn't you like die?"she asked.

"It's going to take a lot more than rejection to kill me Whitney , next time try harder." I said walking away with my pizza.

Oh great! Now my pizza is cold!

We took a seat at our table and started eating.

"So is he coming over tonight?" I asked her using code for mate.

"I don't know ." She replied.

"Okay."

I feel some one staring at me so I turned around and was met with the eyes of Alec.

"Why is he staring at me?" I asked Carolyn.

"Probably realizing what he lost." She replied.

"Can you hurry up ? The dye stinks!" I said corking my nose.

"Don't worry Hayley, it will be finished soon." The hair dresser said. I nodded at her and continued to look at the magazine.

"What do you think?" Carolyn asked twirling around, showing me her hair.

"Yes! That's so you!" I yelled high giving her and the hair dresser.

Carolyn paid her and we left the salon.

"There he is." Carolyn said nodding in the direction of her mate. He looked at us that exact moment and smiled at Carolyn lovingly.

He jogged over to us and lifted her up in the air and spun her around.

"Careful, she just got that done, paid a tone load too." I told him.

He put her down and pecked her cheek. "Hi mate, I'm Lex."he said.

"I'm Carolyn." She said shaking his hand and smiling.

"I'm Hayley, her bestfriend and I'm also hungry and I have to go home in time for The Avatar." I said.

"Hi Hayley." Lex said smiling at me.

" She will see you tonight." I said pointing to Carolyn.

"I'll meet you in the forest , near the pond at midnight."he said kissing Carolyn's forehead.

"She'll see you then."I said pulling Carolyn towards the car.

I shoved her in the passenger seat and walked back to my side.

"You will come with me right?" She asked looking at me.

"Of course I will." I replied focusing on the road.

"She had the nerve to say that to me!" I yelled at the wolf statue in the garden.

"I wanted to say something bad but I decided against it because Alec would never let me hear the end of it!" I yelled fraustratedly .

"I'm sure he would." The statue replied.

"How are you talking?"I asked it.

"You are making me do it."it replied.

"What? How?"I asked.

"You'll find out ... Eventually but why did she say that to you after she saw the video?"

"I don't know but - "

A twig snapped in the distance and I turned around and saw no one. The sound must've came from deep in the forest.. how could I have heard that from here?

"Hey Hayley." Alex greeted coming to sit beside me.

"Hi, here to tell me what you're girlfriend said earlier or something else?" I asked him coldly.

" I just wanted to see if you are doing okay...you Know after the rejection and the video and everything..." He trailed off.

"I'm fine, no need to worry about me." I said.

"I will never stop worrying about you." He said.

"You need to try because you are in love with someone else as much as it hurts to say it , you rejected me for her."

"You accepted it." He said defensively.

"So I shouldn't have accepted it and go through all the pain by myself because you are too selfish to give me a chance of happiness with someone else?!" I asked loudly.

"There will be no one else except me!"he yelled possessively.

"Oh so now you act like a mate?!"I asked .

"Why are you acting like this? I didn't have to come here but I did! I came her because I was worried about you!!" He yelled.

"If you were worried about me, you wouldn't have rejected me!"I shouted.

"Here we go with the rejection again!" He shouted in my face.

"You Know what? Stop worrying about me! Go enjoy with the girl you left me for!!" I yelled getting up running into the forest , shifting in mid - air.

I ran fast and angry into the forest, ants and smaller animals feeling the weight of my paws.

I stopped in the middle of the forest and let out a fraustrated growl.

The ground shook slightly at the power coming from my growl but what caught my attention was the loud howl of happiness coming from the other end of the forest .

I should've just ran back home but something compelled me to run in the direction of the howl and so I did.

I came to a stop at the stream that separated our side of the forest from the Blue Wood pack border.

I stopped when I noticed a silver furred wolf looking at me. His irises have different colors. His right iris is gold and the left one silver.

A scar ran along the top of his right eye to the end of it's stout , where the human ear will be.

We stood there looking at each other before I turned around and ran back to the pack house.

Something about his gaze pulled me to him like .....the mate bond but that's not possible because I got rejected by my mate a couple hours a go.

"I'm telling you Carolyn, it was like the mate bond." I told her for the third time tonight.

"Okay, but I need sleep so we can visit him at the pond." She said getting happy at the mention of her mate.

"Good night." I told her.

"Night."
