CHAPTER 16 “Looking at One star”
Yuan Mendez' POV
It's Sunday, Ivy has an appointment at their factory of the cosmetics brand they are distributing, so I went early to pick her up.
"Yuan! You're early today."
"Yes, Lady Min, I have to accompany her to the factory this afternoon. Is she already awake?"
"Ahhh! She's not yet… I saw her around 4 am at the archery range I think she wasn't able to sleep at all…"
"I see… Have you gone upstairs on her room?"
"Ahhh… no, you can go upstairs and knock…"
"Will that be fine?"
"You can try, you're her boyfriend after all…"
"Right… I'll go upstairs"
I went upstairs and knocked for a couple of times, waited for a response, but there's nothing, so I started to get nervous
"Lady Min?" I looked for her as I hurriedly went down the stairs
"Yes dear…"
"Are you sure, she's inside her room?"
"Yes…"
"But no one's answering…"
Lady Min lost her composure and called another maid to get the keys… we rushed upstairs to open the door…
"Has this ever happened before?" I asked Lady Min as she was trying to figure out which one of the keys she was holding was for this door.
"No…Here's the key"
"Okay…" I took it from her hand and opened the door…
It was my first time entering her room, it was huge! And on her queen-sized bed she was sleeping soundly…
"She might have taken 2 sleeping pills and drank some wine…" Lady Min said as she looked at Ivy's side table with a bottle of strong sleeping pills and an empty bottle of wine…
"Ivy…" I called out her name…
I sat on her bed and went closer…
"I'll leave you two for a moment"
I nodded…
"Ivy…" She was indeed sleeping soundly, It's the pills, taking 2 pills would surely knock her down…
I almost didn't want to wake her up, something must've been bothering her which kept her awake so she took the pills to sleep and to forget. But she has an appointment and she'd definitely don't want to miss it…
"Ivy…" I held her hand and gently caressed it…
"Ivy…" I whispered into her ear…
Her eyes opened and looked at me…
"How did you get into my room?!"
"I-I'm sorry, I asked Lady Min for the keys… I panicked because I was knocking earlier but you were not answering so…"
She sprung up and sat then she massaged her head.
"Do you want me to get you something?"
She held her hand up to stop me from talking, I was taken aback
"I'll go and prepare wait for me here…"
She went to her bathroom. While she was preparing herself, I looked around her huge room, she has a living room which I passed before I actually reached another room to where she actually sleeps. I looked around for some photos but she only had one, where she and her father looked so happy. I stared at it for a while.
That smile, those eyes filled with love, I haven't seen it yet… Will I ever get to see it?
��Yuan…" I turned around…
"Ivy…"
"What were you looking at?"
"Your photo with your father…"
She was silent…
"I honestly don't feel like going on a date today…Can we go home straight after visiting the factory?" she said…
"May I ask why?"
"It's just…" She can't continue and I feel like I get what she wants to say…
"You feel bad for Ivan if you'll be happy during this time?"
She just looked at me.
I can't vocalize that she's being unfair to me, what I mean is, why would she feel bad? it's her life
I get the fact that they're friends and she sympathize with him but what about us? It's been a while since we went out and we don't get more time with each other because work has been tight these days.
But what can I do?
"Okay…" I said…
So, we went to the factory and I was just like her secretary once again I followed her around as she talked to her employees…
During the break we were resting at the office in the factory. In a moment she took her phone out from her purse and went out of the office and called someone. But I could still hear the noise from outside.
She kept on dialing her phone. I guess no one's answering whoever she was calling.
Then she spoke…
"Yang... I've been leaving you voice calls but you never answered. I went to your house a few times but no one's answering the bell, where in the world are you? You're worrying me! If you ever get this please call me back…"
She dropped the call and went inside. Worry was all over her face. I understand why she was worried but I can't help myself from getting jealous.
"Yuan…"
"Hmmm?"
"I want to go home…"
"Let's go…" I took her bag which was beside me…
When we were almost at the villa, she spoke…
"I don't think I'll be able to sleep again tonight… I don't want to take some pills…"
I don't know what's going on with her, but I hope she's willing to share her thoughts so I said
"If you want some company tonight and someone to talk to, I can stay… I'm willing to listen…"
She smiled…
When we got to her home, Lady Min has prepared dinner and after the meal she asked for a bottle of wine.
When she had it on her hands, she stood up she poured some on our glasses and said
"Take a walk with me?" as she offered me a glass of wine.
We walked around the villa until we reached the pool area, she sat on the corner and dipped her feet on the water, then I sat beside her…
There was a moment of silence for a while as she just stared onto the water and finished her glass of wine. She poured more on her glass. Meanwhile I haven't even took a sip on mine.
"Ahemmmm!" She cleared her throat…
"I haven't been able to sleep since we sent off Coleen…"
She stared again on the water…
"When I saw her receiving CPR from the doctors, I pictured out my father's last moments, I bet Coleen was happy until her last breath because she was able to hold the hand of the man she loved, she was never lonely until her last breath."
She paused and finished her glass in one shot… I wanted to stop her but I thought she might need it so she could speak and let her feelings out.
"My dad must have been lonely because I wasn't there." She poured another on her glass
"Unconscious people could still hear the sounds in their surroundings, even after their death the sense of hearing will be the last one to be lost, imagine how my dad would have love to hear my voice, Yang was calling out her name out loud. If ever I was able to call out my dad's name, I bet he would have fight and live. Every time I remember it, whenever I close my eyes, I always see the scene of my almost death. That's how these memories haunt me, it reminds me how I failed as a daughter."
With that being said and let out of her chest, I hope she'll feel free. I hope she'll be able to let go of that memory. I misunderstood her earlier when she said she doesn't feel like going for a date, I thought it was all because on Ivan, I thought she feels bad going on a date while her friend was mourning.
"Earlier…" I spoke, I have to apologize
"Hmmmm?"
"I'm sorry if I misunderstood you… when you said you don't feel going on a date..."
"It's fine… Yuan, it's true that I feel bad for Yang but I know I have responsibilities as your girlfriend and as much as I want to make up with all the times we can't spend together, believe me want to be with you… It's just that I feel so restless…"
"I'll help you take away the pain…" those are the only words that came out of my mouth.
I wrapped her around my arms and we stayed like that for a moment.
She's drunk and she fell asleep after a while. I took the wine bottle from her hand and placed it on the side, I placed her head to lean on my shoulder and carried her to her room.
"Lady Min, can you please change her clothes?"
"Of course, dear…"
"I'll stay outside…"
"Okay"
I waited outside of her room until Lady Min came out…
"Is she fine?"
"Yes, she's sound asleep"
"Then maybe I should be on my way home now…"
"But she was uttering your name earlier…"
"Can I look at her before I go?"
"of course!" Lady Min opened the door for me and came with me inside…
I sat on her side and held her hand, I looked at her and caressed her hair.
"Yuan, if she ever does something that offends you or make you feel that you're not important to her, please find it in your heart to understand, she has a lot of wounds in her heart."
"I will…" I said as I looked at her beautiful sleeping face…
I was about to stood up and leave but she held my hand…
"Can you watch over her for tonight dear?"
"Is it okay?" I asked
"Just don't do some silly things…" I know what she meant. I chuckled at her remark.
"I respect her Lady Min, no need to worry��" I reassured her…
"Then, I'll bring you some clothes so you can change."
"Thank you, Lady Min…"
I was holding onto her hand as I watch her sleep soundly…
Lady Min handed me some clothes when she came back…
"I'm sorry but I can't find something but these are some of Ivy's pajamas she bought but were quite big, she hasn't used it."
"This will be fine… thank you…"
"The guest room is ready. You can sleep there…"
"I'll stay beside her…"
"Okay…"
I went to the bathroom on her room, it was quite spacious, I noticed she had several scented candles around the tub, it's probably for relaxation.
I went back and took a chair and placed it beside her bed, I sat down and watched her sleep.
I looked at her pretty face for a while and suddenly her brows furrowed… I wonder if she's dreaming bad things, I hope she'll be able to sleep well tonight. I held her hand and her expression got brighter. This is how I want to be in your life, someone that can make the pain go and make you brighter and happier…
YIN IVY LEE's POV
"Yuan…" how in the world did this guy fell asleep on a chair?!
"Hmmm?"
"Yuan!"
"oh!!? I'm sorry I fell asleep…"
"What are you doing there?"
"I watched over you last night, in case you had a bad dream…" how could he be that sweet?
"t-thanks… but you should have slept on the guest room."
"Nahhh! I'm really fine, did you sleep well?" he smiled
"Yes, I feel refreshed…"
"I'm glad you did… You're going to the office today?"
"Yes, I am…"
"I'll drop you on your office…"
"Are you sure? Don't you have some meetings this morning?"
"I have but those can wait."
"I'll get ready so we won't have to be late. Go downstairs and have a breakfast after you prepare, I told Lady Min earlier to dry clean your clothes, she probably put it on the guest room." I went down my bed and gave him a kiss on the cheek, it was his reward for listening to me last night.
I saw him blush when I gave him a kiss. Hahahaha! that was cute…
My phone rang and I took the call
"Yes, Mr. Zheng?" I just can't get used to calling him dad even if he said I should call him that way.
"Ivy, we haven't been in contact with Ivan for days and he doesn't report at work"
"He hasn't answered my calls either…" I said
"His mom and I are getting worried. We went to his house but he wasn't there…"
"What?! Where could he be? But don't worry Mr. Zheng I'll look for him…"
I went downstairs…
"Ivy, take a sit Lady Min has cooked pancakes…"
I smiled at him…
"Wait, is there something wrong? You were fine a moment ago." He asked, how did he notice that?
"You can tell me…"
"Mr. Zheng called… They can't reach Yang for days now and when they went to his home, he wasn't there… How could he leave like that?! He has a company to run!! I know that he's mourning but for goodness sake his employees are depending on him!!"
"It's gonna be fine Ivy… we can try to look for him." He held my hand
My phone rang again…
"Excuse me I'll take this"
He nodded…
"Yes Hello?"
"Is this Miss Ivy Lee?"
"Yes speaking"
"Miss Ivy, I'm sir Ivan's secretary, I couldn't reach him for several days and there were a lot of paper works that should be signed I was instructed before that in his absence and whenever we need some help sir Ivan has told me to contact you."
"What are those papers about?"
"They are for the cosmetics advertisement and promotion."
"Can you send it to my office, I'll have to review it first…"
"Yes, Miss Ivy…"
"Okay…"
I went back inside…
"May I ask who's that?"
"It was Yang's secretary, I guess his employees has been having a hard time in his absence…"
He stood up and came to me and gave me a hug…
"Don���t get stressed out too much…"
I'm lucky to have him beside me during these times. I feel at ease…
He dropped me off at the office then he has to go to his meetings, he said he'll pick me up later in the afternoon.
"Miss Ivy, Sir Ivan's secretary dropped this off 15 minutes ago."
"Thank you…"
"Ahh!! Clair, can you try and track down Yang's phone? and tell me if ever he uses his credit card so we could track down his location, ask Mr. de la Cerna for some help"
"Yes, miss Ivy…"
A week passed and I've been coming to the office with the burden of what Yang has left on his company, Mr. Zheng can't manage the company now because he's old, so he asked me if he could appoint me as the temporary chairman, I couldn't resist so I just said yes. Now I have to look after two worlds at the same time. Yuan has always supported me, he sometimes helps me out whenever work piles up.
Before I entered my office, I always ask Clair or Troy my private investigator if they have heard or known Yang's location. But they always give me a disappointing answer. I'm kinda getting restless.
*ting
From: Yuan
I just arrived in my office, we're up for a meeting in 5 minutes…
To: Yuan
That's good, good luck on your meeting Yuan, I'm working on some papers.
From: Yuan
You've always called me by my name…
"huh?"
To: Yuan
What do you mean?
From: Yuan
Dear, love, babe, honey, sweetheart, can't we call each other by endearments?
Ugh! I'm really not into endearments, I didn't know Yuan had this side of him…
From: Yuan
You didn't let me call you Yin because your dad calls you in that name, then I found out that Ivan calls you in that name. it's quite unfair.
So that's what he felt… then fine…
To: Yuan
Can we have something else, something that's not too cheesy and corny…
From: Yuan
Okay, I'll try to come up with something. I have to go to the meeting. Talk to you later… I love you
To: Yuan
Okay, love you too…
After what happened with her sister in law, Yuan had become even more sweet and vocal about his feelings… It was a good change, I felt loved and important, as for myself I have always been bad at expressing my feelings, let's just say I'm not used to it. But I'm trying hard to return his feelings.
"Miss Ivy…"
"Did you find Yang?" I asked Clair
"Not yet miss, his phone is still turned off and there are no records of him using his credit card yet."
"Haaaaaa..." I let out a sigh…
"Miss Ivy, Zen airlines has sent you this invitation to their event."
She handed me an envelope, I opened it…
"The event will be two days from now?"
"Yes, miss…"
"Tell them I'll be there…"
"Noted, Miss"

The meeting just ended I'm gonna grab some lunch. Don't skip yours…
To: Yuan
I've ordered food, I'm just waiting for it.
From: Yuan
I was thinking… I first confessed to you when we were in Korea, so I looked up for Korean words…
There was a word that caught my attention Hanbyeol which mean One star…
(A/N: Byeol is read as "byôl")
To: Yuan
Did you focus on your meeting at all?
From: Yuan
Hmmm… I listened while thinking for good words…
Hanbyeol not such a bad idea, it's not that cringey…
To: Yuan
But isn't that such a long word?
I didn't receive a response until I got my food order. When I was about to finish my meal, another delivery came.
"Who are these from?" I asked the guy who delivered a bouquet of blue roses
"He said he'll know once you read the card"
"okay…" the delivery man left
I took a sniff of the flowers it has a sweet scent that makes you relaxed then I saw a card the delivery guy meant I opened it…
I'll be your one and you'll be my star.
If we put it together, we'll be that One star that shines bright.
He has his way of letting someone feel very special, I don't think I deserve him, because he's so sweet and thoughtful, he has helped me through a lot of ways. I feel sorry that I don't show him much affection and I am always brusque with my actions.
My phone suddenly rang.
"Hello?"
"Did you love the flowers, byeol??"
Did he just call me that?! Now that I hear it, I feel warm…
"'You there?"
I was out of it for a moment
"Oh?"
"Did you like the flowers?"
"I do…"
There was a second of silence
"Thank you, Han…" I blurted out the word and it went naturally…
"That made me smile… that made my heart flutter" He said
I don't know what to say at all…
"I'm glad you loved the flowers I have to be on another meeting…" he said
"O-okay…"
"I'll pick you up when I'm done here."
"No need to rush, I've got couple of things to do anyway"
"Okay, I have to go, see you in a while my byeol…"
"See you! Please focus on your work han…"
The call ended.
While he does his meeting, I have to deal with my own business.
Clair entered the office after I called her through the intercom
"Miss Ivy…"
"Clair, I think the The East Coast Blue Lotus Resort has to be improved, I want some renovation on the lobby and the leisure facilities for the guest. The restaurant, I heard the chef will resign soon? I want you to scout a five-star chef. I need to have the budget proposal for the renovation and the application of the chefs within 2 weeks…"
"Yes, Miss…"
"Another, thing, the Lotus Hotel hasn't submitted their management report on the exact day, tell them to come here tomorrow."
"Yes, Miss…"
"You may go…"
Hours passed I feel exhausted so I looked at the view outside my office. I looked at the computer monitor, it's 6 in the afternoon and the sun has set. Most of the employees have gone home. I stood up and went near the window to look at the view outside.
*knock *knock
I turned my head to the door…
"Hi!! I was caught in the traffic, I'm sorry…" Yuan took off his tuxedo coat and went near me to give me a hug…
"Are you hungry?" he asked
"I am but I have financial reports to review… I just rested for a while…"
"Then let's just order some food and eat here…"
"That's a good idea... Order something for me… I'll just get back to work so I can finish it early…" I lightly touched his face and gave him a smile. I'm trying to work on how I show my feelings towards him, I realized when Yang lost Coleen, that life is too short we should show more affection to the people who cares for us.
"Right on it!!
In just a moment the food has arrived
"Byeol… please leave the monitor for a moment dinner's here…"
"ummmm~" I answered as I saved the progress on my work…
"here" he handed me out some chopsticks
"Tempura Bento?"
"Yes…"
"Nice…"
"It's been hard these past few days isn't it?��� he asked
"Yeah… barely holding onto thin ropes, Golden dragon is just as huge as Lotus, having two is ten times the work load…"
"Have you heard about him yet?"
"We still couldn't track him… I wonder where he has been…"
"You'll find him soon…"
We ate our dinner while talking about other things. He took the conversation on a different way so I couldn't think of my problems…
"You finished?" he pointed on the dish…
"Yeah…"
"I'll clean this up then…"
"Thanks…"
While he cleans up, I went back to work. I bet he'll get bored while waiting for me so I actually told him to just go home. But he said he'll just wait as it was reported on the weather forecast that there might a slight rainfall due to a low-pressure area.
So, he just sat on the couch and watched a movie on the TV here in my office. My concentration level is high and I don't get distracted by the noise. I was able to finish everything around 10 pm. I leaned on my swivel chair and looked at the ceiling to relax and stretched my arms before I stood up.
"Are you okay?"
He was peaking behind my computer monitor.
"Oh!? When did you sit there?!" I was surprised because I didn't notice him move
He moved his face closer and rested his head on his hand that is formed like a fist and with his arm resting on the table.
"Ah!! I've been sitting here an hour ago after the movie I was watching ended, Waaaah!! Your concentration is indeed great!! I was looking at you the whole period but you never noticed me here…"
"I'm sorry" I draw my face near his and lightly touched his face…
"Let's go home I'm done with work…"
"Okay"
He dropped me off at the villa and I got off then I remembered something right before I closed the door of his car.
"Ahhh! Right! I got invited at Zen airlines' anniversary party on Thursday…"
"That's a day after tomorrow, right?"
"Yes…"
"I have to be there, because we're going to sign a partnership next week and…"
"And?"
"Are you ready for some dating reports? 'cause I want you to be my date on that night…"
Our relationship was not known in public. Who would expect anyway? I was about to marry Golden Dragons' heir a while ago, who would have thought? Besides Mendez's group of companies has been a rival of Lotus during the time of my father, well even until now we are still competing at the stock market, though it wasn't the same as before, as my company has focused more on different areas than their company when I took over.
"Well, Zen airlines has invited their celebrity ambassadors so reporters will be there and I heard they'll be announcing the engagement of Zen's second daughter to a congressman."
"Hmmm~~ It'll be a huge scoop for the reporters as our companies was once a rival in the stock market, though your scale is much greater now…" he chuckled
"What are you saying…" I sneered
"I'm always ready!"
"Then, pick me up tomorrow, let's shop for our outfits together."
"Is that why you've worked over time today because you won't be at the office tomorrow?"
"Hahaha! You caught me right there!" I smirked
"But I have a meeting tomorrow in the morning"
"It's fine, pick me up here in the morning and let's go in the afternoon…"
"Okay…" He smiled
"You should go… Good night Han!!"
"See you tomorrow byeol"
I signaled him to come near me like I have something to whisper… then I gave him a kiss on the cheek
He smiled, I was about to pull back but he held my face and gave me a peck…
"Goodnight, byeol" he smiled at me
"Sly~" I said as I stared and looked like I was judging him.
"I'll go now, sleep well!"
Then I closed the car's door and he left…
I went directly to my room and rest…
6 am in the morning, I saw the sun shine from the window after opening the huge curtains. I looked downstairs and saw Yuan's car. I went to the bathroom immediately and fixed myself I guess it was about an hour before I came out of my room.
I went downstairs and saw Yuan in an apron, did he cook?
"Good morning!!" he said with a huge smile…
"You're early" I said
"Yeah, thought to cook you some breakfast" he put the plate with pancakes and opened his arms wide…
I gave him a "What-the-hell-are-you-doing?" look
"I figured!" he said
"can I please get a hug?" he asked
Ahhh!! I went to him and gave him a hug. And because he's quite taller than I am and he has broad shoulders he could totally lock me in his embrace. I feel secure and warm…
"Thanks for cooking, han…"
"Always at your service, byeol…" he smiled and tapped my head like I was a kid…
We're now on the way to his office.
"It's been a while since I visited your office…"
"Right… finally my office will be filled with your scent." He smiled
"Huh?"
��You have a good taste in perfume" he said
"Ahh! Thanks…"
"Wear that often, I love the scent…"
I smiled.
"Good morning miss Ivy" his secretary greeted. I could hear whispers from people at the back
"Isn't she Lotus' Chairwoman?"
"Yes…"
"She's dating with our boss?"
"I guess so, they're together"
"Oh! No other woman has entered the boss's office apart from his secretary…"
"Ooooh they must be really dating…"
When we arrive to his company, he led me to his office.
"Sorry about the buzzing… we hired some marketing interns and they've never seen you here before…"
"It's fine I thought I was the only one who heard them hahahaha!"
"Anyway, I'll be at the conference room. Can I leave you for a moment?"
"Sure… Can I sit here?" I swiftly touched the swivel chair.
"My honor Chairwoman Lee…" as he pulled back the chair and let me sit on it…
I smirked
"See you later…" then he kissed me on the cheek…
I sat on his swivel chair and looked at the things he has on his desk, I was surprised he had a photo of me next to his computer I guess he took this photo secretly, it was a photo from our business trip in Korea.
I stood up and looked at the books he has on his shelves I noticed he had the magazine where I was featured on, the one wherein he came with me as my secretary.
I took the magazine and read it while sitting on his swivel chair… I got on to the page where my interview was, he folded it. Hahahaha! I don't know why. 3 hours passed and I was just roaming around his office.
"Sorry, were you bored?" finally!!
"Is the meeting done?"
"Yes… so where do you want to go?"
"Let's grab some lunch first?" I said
"Of course! What do you want to eat?"
"Hmmm… some Italian dish…"
"Okay, I know a place" he said
We head out to grab our lunch.
"Byeol… ummm~ I'm really not god in choosing a suit…"
"I'll help you don't worry"
After having our lunch, we head out to a dress shop.
"Ohhh!! Look who do we have here!! Miss Ivy Lee!!" The designer was surprised to see me…
"And… who is this fine young man?"
"Ahhh! Mother M, He's Yuan Mendez, my boyfriend" I looked at Yuan as I introduce him to the designer, he smiled widely and his ears turned red, what's happening to him?!
"Hello dear I'm Mother M, I've tailored most of Miss Ivy's event dresses. How are you related to Mendez group of companies?"
"Ummm… I'm the current chairman…"
"Ohhh!! Goodness!! A power-couple!!"
"Mother M, we'll be attending Zen Airline's anniversary and engagement party tomorrow do you have some new designs?"
"I always have one dear, look… Why don't you try this white, off-shoulder dress, it has a sexy slit on the left for sure you'll be very gorgeous!"
"I'll try this one, may I see your collection of Tuxedos?"
"Of course, dear…"
I hover my hands on the tuxedos and feel the fabric while looking at the designs
"Han! Try this one" The vest was midnight black with a light square and sprinkled white patterns that looked like stars.
"You'll wear something black inside…"
"I like it" he said
We tried on our clothes, I heard from the next fitting room that he came out. I'm excited to see how it would look on him. I fixed my hair immediately and went out.
When I came out of the fitting room, he was standing outside waiting for me his look was breathtakingly handsome, He smiled when he saw me came out of the fitting room, that smile made him a whole package.
He went to me and offered a hand
"Gorgeous" he said, as he set my hair back to fix my look…
I fixed the alignment of his coat and brush my hands on his shoulder…
"There you go Handsome…" I said
"What a beautiful sight!!!" Mother M interrupted
We both chuckled as it became quite awkward when Mother M appeared���
"I love the dress! I'll take this one… What do you think Han?"
"It's perfect, I also like the suit, what do you think byeol?"
"I love it!"
"Then, we'll both take this" he took out a black card on his wallet and offered to pay
"Hey, I invited you so I should be the one paying…"
"Nope!! You look very gorgeous on that dress, so I'll pay."
"then…" I said, and tiptoed, locked his face on my hands and gave him a peck
"I'll go get changed" then I left immediately as I feel embarrassed.
I saw him froze on the place he was standing while smiling. Is my sudden acts fluster him a lot? Well…
After changing, the dress was arranged and will be delivered to my house tomorrow early in the morning along with Yuan's tuxedo. So, we decided that he'll come to my house early and we'll come to the venue together. He dropped me at my house early, we'll be spending the day tomorrow anyway.
I called my make-up artist and made a reservation, they'll come here tomorrow around lunch. I need to sleep early so I relaxed my nerves with a warm bath on the tub.
"Goood morning!! Byeol!!" He was early again and he cooked breakfast
"Good morning, Han!"
"I'm afraid, she'll get used to you cooking for her breakfast" Lady Min said as she entered with the two maids carrying a box which I suppose were from the dress shop…
"I believe these are for tonight" she continued
"Ahhh, yes lady Min! Zen airlines will hold an event tonight…"
"Ahhh! That's good, you better unwind you've been working a lot lately dear"
I smiled…
"I'll be at the kitchen when you need me…" she said
After breakfast we sat on the couch in the living room, waiting for the time to pass.
"Do you like horror movies?" he suddenly asked
"I don't get to watch a lot of movies, so I don't know which genre I like…"
"I found a good movie last night, I thought we could watch it some-time…"
"Let��s watch it now…"
"Great…"
He came closer to the corner to where I am sitting, he folded his left leg so he could even come closer
"What are you doing? I thought we're going to watch a movie?"
"Yeah… I downloaded it on my phone" then he pulled me closer and let me lean on his shoulder, it's as if he was back hugging me, he held the phone in his right hand placing it in front where it was convenient so we both could see…
The movie started and I don't know what the hell were doing, we sure have a TV but we were watching a movie on Yuan's phone. We could connect it on the Tv but he insisted to watch it on his phone.
"Your arm must be tired" we're already in the middle of the movie
"Naaah! I'm fine" is what he said but I could clearly feel that his hands are tired…
I folded my knees to give support to his hand
"rest your hand on my knees so it won't be hard…"
He did as what I told him, I think I know why we're doing this, we're very close to each other and the skin ship level is surely upgraded. Maybe he planned this… -_- but anyway what's wrong with it right? We'll get more comfortable with each other. Actually, I feel like I'm in my early 20's who's on a romantic home date.
"Miss Ivy, the make-up artists are here…"
"Hi miss Ivy" the senior make-up artist greeted me
Great timing the movie just ended, we actually finished two movies.
"Ohh!! Great!! Please set your kits upstairs…"
"Show them the larger guest room…" I told the maid who led them in
"Yes miss…"
"I have to doll up, Han" I caressed his face and stood up…
"If you're going to change you can do it on my room…" I told him
"Okay…"
So, I went upstairs where the glam team was…
"Miss Ivy was that your boyfriend?!" he's a gay so his tone is quite girlish, the senior make-up artist asked.
"Ummm~ yes…"
"You both look perfect!!"
"Thanks…"
It took around two hours to get my hair and make-up done. I went to the bathroom to change into my dress…
"Goodness miss Ivy!! Very beautiful!! I bet your boyfriend is always enchanted by your beauty!!"
"thank you!"
"No problem! Anyway, we have to leave because there's another client we have to attend to…"
"Oh, thank you! You're always my favorite glam team… I'll wire the payment on your account."
"Thank you miss Ivy! Have a blast on the event!!"
The glam team left and I remained at the room for a moment making sure everything is perfect.
*knock *knock
"Byeol, we have to go, we're going to be late because of the traffic if we won't leave now…"
"Ummm!! Coming!!"
I went out and saw Yuan all set, wearing the tuxedo I picked for him, what a visual!! Ladies would probably stick to him like a gum if I'm not around.
"You look Gorgeous, byeol…" he smiled sweetly…
"I guess ladies will be lining up in front of you tonight…"
"No one compares to you…" he held my hand
Enough with the cheesy moments, we moved towards the venue. There was indeed a huge traffic because of a car accident. It took an hour before they could clear it. Good thing we head out early and my driver decided to go through some shortcuts.
When we arrived at the venue. The press never fails, there were a lot of them! Well there are huge artist that was invited because they are ambassadors.
Yuan opened the car door and the press started taking photos, he assisted me as I went down the car. I can hear people buzzing around.
Yuan here, teased them and probably gave them the answer to their buzz. Yuan pulled me closer and held me on my waist as we posed before we walk on the red carpet, then he later folded his arm and placed my hand on his arm. We walked towards the entrance of the venue.
When we got in there, we were greeted by people we know from the same field. We sat together on the table assigned to us. In a moment, the event started with a welcoming remark by the chairman of Zen.
There were several personalities who gave their speeches. Later…
"We also have a new partner in our airlines, let us all recognize the presence of the chairwoman of Lotus Group of companies! Miss Yin Ivy Lee!" The CEO of Zen called out my name during her Speech so I stood up and waived at her…
After several speeches and numbers during the program, dinner was served and later, people started talking with someone they know across their tables. I know several people so I stood up and went to greet them.
"I'll just go and meet with Zen airline's CEO"
"Sure, I saw a batchmate of mine, I'll go catch up with him…"
"Umm!!" I nodded
We split up for a moment to mingle with people and talk to business partners that were also present.
I was standing talking with Zen's CEO when I heard ladies staring and giggling over someone and I followed their gaze…
"I heard he's the new chairman of Mendez group"
"yeah! He's totally handsome…"
"Isn't he taken?"
"I heard he came as a date of someone tonight…"
"We were late so we haven't seen who he came with…"
"Who cares! There's no man that doesn't fall for my charm" I stared at her to recognize such a brat.
"Watch girls!!" the lady stood up and went to the buffet table where Yuan and his batchmate were proximately standing…
I have to watch for a moment… This might entertain my night…
She took two glasses of wine which I believe she'll hand out to my man.
"Miss Ivy, do you perhaps know Minzy Roxas?"
"I do… Who wouldn't?" I said calmly…
"Well, that girl flirts with any man she puts her eyes into…" CEO Kayla Zen said
"Wait, is she about to flirt with…"
CEO Kayla looked at me like 'Are you not going to do anything about it?'
She went to them, greeted and offered the wine she was holding. Yuan refused her offer and obviously she was insisting. Yuan took the wine�� he took it… which quite annoyed me, he looked at the glass… swirled the wine in the glass… And passed it onto his friend…
That made me laugh as well as Zen's CEO… Now she was brushing Yuan's shoulder as if she's removing some dust… but I saw how uncomfortable Yuan was…
"How about I help my man now." I said and CEO Kayla smirked at me…
I took my wine glass. I want to show her that he doesn't drink wine unless I was the one to offer it. I walked proudly straight onto Yuan's direction and he found that I was coming, he looked at me with seductive eyes, he opened his left arm widely to welcome me, he smiled and he slipped his hand on my waist to hold me and kissed me on the forehead.
I offered him the glass of wine I was holding. He took it and had a sip. I bet he had a gist that I want to tease her… During these moment Yuan and I click the most, we looked savage for sure.
"Thanks…" he whispered to my ear…
I saw how the lady started to have a grim expression on her face… Teasing her made my day…
"Ahh! Hello! Miss Roxas…" I said teasingly, greeting her as if I have just noticed her presence.
"Excuse me? But who are you?" she said
CEO Kayla from the back spoke
"She's Lotus group's chairwoman, Miss Yin Ivy Lee…"
"Ahhh!! She's my date and my girlfriend" Yuan spoke and smiled
I saw how irritated she was and ashamed. She was about to leave, then I told her in a bitchy way when she was about to pass by me…
"Next time you should never be late with your friends, you'll miss out a lot in an event."
That's me telling her that I overheard everything…
She rolled her eyes on me and left the scene…
Which made me chuckled and as well as CEO Kayla…
"That was funny" she spoke
"CEO Kayla, this is Yuan Mendez, chairman of Mendez group, my boyfriend… Yuan this is CEO Kayla my new partner" I smiled at her
"Nice to meet you! How are you related to Zen Technologies" he said and offered a hand shake.
"Nice to meet you… Zen technologies was my cousin's company in South Korea…
"I see, great…"
"Wow! What a couple! We were actually watching when Miss Roxas approached you, it was funny how you turned down her wine offer…"
We all chuckled…
"Ahh! Right!! This is my batchmate from college, Ryan Dee, He runs food chains all over the country. Ryan, this is my girlfriend, Ivy and the host of today's event…"
"Yeah, we know each other, their airline orders their flight meals from us…"
"Yes! And we never had a problem" she said
"Ahh that's nice…" Yuan excitingly said
"Anyway, I'm glad you guys came, I have to arrange something, so I need to go, enjoy the night!"
I smiled at her…
"See you on the contract signing CEO Kayla"
"See you dear…"
"Bro, I have to leave you guys for a while…"
"Okay bro, nice seeing you here…"
"You too" then they shook hands and he left…
We were silent for a moment…
"So, you were watching?" he said
"Watching what?"
"How was it?" then I got the clue, that he was talking about earlier…
"It was funny how you passed the wine glass." I said
"You were oozing with charisma when you walked towards me and I never expected that is how you push girls away. It was fresh! You seem possessive... byeol." He said as he whispered the last word into my ear.
Which made me smile…
Later in the party they announced about the engagement of Zen's Second daughter, CEO Kayla's younger sister to a congressman. After some time of the announcement the party has concluded.
"Han, it's already 2 am, just stay here, it's dangerous to drive home" I said when we arrived at the Villa…
"Is it really okay?"
"Of course! I'll have the guest room prepared…"
"thanks…"
Yuan spent the night here in the villa. I didn't allow him to drive home late. Because of an urgent meeting in his company he set off early and left me a letter.
