CHAPTER 18 “Words like I Need You”
Yuan Mendez's POV
"Thanks for flying with me" She said as if pretending to be a Flight attendant.
"Hahahahaha!! I was nervous the whole time though…"
"You're really doubting my mad flying skills?!"
"Not that, I just can't help being nervous, I'll bring our bags…" I offered…
It's not that I'm doubting her flying skills because from what I saw she was totally experienced but she has anxiety attacks whenever it rains that's why she can't drive a car, then what if it suddenly rains, does her anxiety applies on aircrafts too? I don't know, so I was nervous, I was hesitant to ask her too… And the idea that I can't fly an aircraft if something happens to her scared me…
We went down to her office and she was talking with Clair about something. She just came from a business trip yet she still got the power to work immediately. She's too used with kind of setting…
In a moment she went inside with a grumpy face…
"What's it? Any problems?" I asked
"Hmmm?? Ohhh! Nothing…" She says 'nothing' but absolutely there's something, maybe she doesn't want to talk about it right now…
"I want to rest today can you drop me off at the Villa?" she asked
"Of course, are we going now?"
"Yes please…"
So, I drove her to the Villa, she seemed so down as she just went inside immediately after saying goodbye and giving me a kiss on the cheek…
What could be the problem this time? Is it Ivan? I really don't unless she tells me…
I went to the hospital to visit my dad after dropping Ivy off. My dad hasn't woken up yet, it's been a while since he's been hospitalized. The doctors kept doing their very best as per Ivy's request.
I just got home are you resting?>
I am, it seems like it's going to rain I'm not feeling well…>
You want me to come over and buy you some medicines?>
No, I'm just going to rest… you should too…>

I gave her space because I think it was what she needed for tonight.
"Mia, what are my schedules for today?" I asked my secretary
"You have a board meeting by 9 am sir, a lunch meeting with the director of our telecom partner by 12 noon, at 1 pm there's an interview for the interns that we will be accepting at the company, that's all sir…"
"okay can you reserve a table at a fancy restaurant?"
"Are you going on a date with Miss Ivy, sir?"
"Yes…"
"Should I add some flowers?"

Following all the schedules today at work with the thought of seeing her later kept me energetic for the whole day, I know we just saw each other yesterday but she wasn't feeling totally fine so I hope today I can make her smile.
I was excited to pick her up from Lotus HQ, I was just in front of the main entrance and I was waiting for her to come out because she texted me earlier that she'll meet me at the entrance of the HQ by 6 pm.
It's 6:10 she hasn't texted me yet that she'll be late so I went upstairs then I found Clair, her secretary was walking around holding a phone, all worried and tensed…
"Clair! Is there any problem?"
"Ohh!! Goodness sir Yuan!! Thank God you're here!!"
"Why?!?"
"We found where sir Ivan is!!"
YIN IVY LEE's POV
Just finished interviewing the interns, on my way to pick you up!>
You don't have to go to my office, I'll be down at the HQ entrance by 6 pm…>

"Miss Ivy we got the location!!! He has turned on his phone!!!"
My heart was beating so fast knowing that we finally know where Yang is!!
Troy showed me Yang's location
"Why haven't I thought of looking for him at the house he bought for Coleen?!"
He bought a rest house for Coleen that is quite away from the city and had a relaxing environment. I should've looked for him up there…

"It's just 30 minutes away from here, do you want me to pick him up miss Ivy?"
"Miss Ivy I think you've got a call…"
I went to my table and took my phone it was Yang… finally!!
"Yang!!! Hello! Are you doing fine?! You made us all worried!!"
"Yin…" What's this voice?? Is he… perhaps… crying?!
"Yin… can you look after my mom and dad?"
"W-What are you saying?!? Yang!!" I heard some noise it seems like pills inside a bottle…
"Yang… Don't do this…"
I muted my phone so he won't hear it on the other line
"Clair, please call an ambulance and tell them to come to Yang's location ASAP!!"
"Y-yes Miss!!!"
I took my car keys and ran to the basement… I unmuted my phone…
"Yang Please don't do this, I could help you!!"
"Everything seems worthless now Yin… without her I couldn't continue!!"
"Yang please listen to me!! She told me to protect you at all cost and that she loved you!! Yang please don't do this…" I was driving as fast as I could I decided to use the express way so there's not a lot of traffic…
"Yang, she doesn't want this… please!!" he went silent
"Yang!!! Are you there?!?" he suddenly turned off the phone, my God not him!! I don't want to lose him!!
I was doing my best to speed up along the express way so I wouldn't be late when suddenly a drop of water fell into my windshield and another, then another… It was raining… Then I could feel my heartbeat raise even more and the next thing was I couldn't breathe properly and flashes of memories from my accident kept on replaying like it was set on loop, my hands and legs became stiff. Please let the rain stop I have to reach there on time…
I was trying so hard not to be beaten by my trauma but when a beam of light suddenly flashed into my eyes, I closed them and my arms reacted to it and turned the handle to the right and when I opened my eyes a light post was just in front of me I hit the brakes real hard but it didn't help…
I slowly opened my eyes but my head hurts a lot, the airbag was opened… I looked straight onto my windshield it was shattered…
"Ahhh!!!"
My ears are ringing and my head is in pain!! I touched my head and saw blood all over my hands…
"Oohhhh!!" then suddenly my phone rang…
I have to snap out of this… I took my phone and went out of my car immediately…
"Yuan!!! Help me… Help Me!!"
"It's raining, where are you?!? Pull over!!"
"I- I don't know where I am… I- I- There was a light… and I tried to stop and… Yang!! I need to go to Yang… I need to be on time…" I turned off the call and hysterically put the address on the GPS on my phone…
"I'm 2 kilometers away…"
So, I ran hard without thinking of anything else…
"The gates… how am I going to get in…" I tried to push the small gate but it wasn't open… so I tried to push the main gate and miraculously it wasn't closed well… I ran inside the house…
"Yang!!!" I went to the kitchen he wasn't there…
"Yang!! Where are you!!?!?"
"Please answer!! Yang!!" I was hysterically looking around the place
"Yang please!!!"
I went upstairs and opened the masters bed room I still can't find him…
I opened the bathroom door…
YUAN MENDEZ's POV
"Sir Yuan I think you should follow miss Ivy- sir Ivan is attempting to hurt himself and Miss Ivy went out to stop him… She just left around 5 minutes before you came here…"
"What?!? She must've gone straight to the basement that's why I haven't seen her… Where's the address?"
Clair told me the address and I went out immediately and drove to the place… If she's on a hurry she must've used the express way. That road is dangerous there are a lot of cargo trucks passing there!! Goodness Ivy!!!
I'm getting nervous… damn!! I was halfway through my destination when it suddenly rained…
"No!!! Ivy… if she's driving my God!! Why does it have to be raining of all days?!!!"
I reached for my phone and tried to call her… it's ringing…
"Yuan!!! Help me… Help Me!!"
"It's raining, where are you?!? Pull over!!" I said
"I- I don't know where I am… I- I- There was a light… and I tried to stop and… Yang!! I need to go to Yang… I need to be on time…" Then she hanged up, she's hysterical, oh God!! Please!! I tried to dial again but she wasn't answering
"What does she mean, with the light!!" goodness if anything happens to her!! I swear to God!!
10 minutes after I last heard from her, I saw a car about a hundred meters away struck into the light post, it looked so familiar…
"Oh God Ivy!!" When I got near, I recognized that it was her car… I pulled over.
"Oh!! please no!!" I went out of my car and looked into the driver's seat of her car but she wasn't there… The air bag has blood all over…
"Where could she be?!?"
Then I looked around and I found the left pair of her stiletto on the road heading north…
"It couldn't be!!" I went to my car immediately and started driving again…
"She's not probably running towards the place with her condition, right!?!" It's still raining heavily and if she's injured, she might run out of blood. Goodness Ivy!! To what extent are you going to sacrifice for Ivan?!
I finally reached the place and the gate was open so I think she's already here? I rushed to the door…
"Ivan please!!!" I heard her voice, and there were drops of blood on the ground I heard some footsteps climbing up so I followed it and led me to the bathroom…
I never thought I would feel this way especially right at this moment, in this kind of situation but I swear I feel ridiculously jealous!!
YIN IVY LEE's POV
When I opened the bathroom door, he was at the shower all wet while holding a bottle of I don't know what in the world those pills are!! He was about to gobble all the pills he had on his hand I hurried over and slapped his hands and the pills were scattered all over the place…
"Yang!!! Hey!!! Look at me!!" he was like in a trance he was absentmindedly staring on the ground… I sat down with him and I held his hands
"Yang!! What on earth are you trying to do?!? Hey look at me!!" I held his face
"Look at me!! Yang!!"
"Yin…" he finally looked into my eyes, the moment my eyes met with his I no longer know what to say so I just hugged him…
"I wasn't late this time, I finally made it on time…" I said remembering how I wasn't able to be with my father's last moments because I was in an accident, I was months late but this time I was on time and I'm so glad he's alive!!
"Yang… please don't do this, I don't want to lose you like my father" tears rolled down my cheeks along with the water from the running shower
"You're the only family I have now… please I need you!! Please don't leave me…" I asked him desperately
"Coleen asked me to protect you if you'll do anything reckless, I guess she saw this coming… Yang I never thought you could do this to yourself!!"
"please don't do this, don't leave me…" I was just hugging him the whole time and I kept telling him he shouldn't leave me then in a moment I could feel I'm slowly getting dizzy so I leaned my head on his shoulder…
"Yin…" I could only hear Yang's voice…
"Yin!!"
"What happened?!!" now I hear Yuan's voice but I couldn't open my eyes…
YUAN MENDEZ's POV
"Yang!!! Hey!!! Look at me!!" I saw her went to him to stop him from what he was about to do
"Yang!! What on earth are you trying to do?!? Hey look at me!!" she held his face
I haven't seen this side of her, I stepped back and slightly hid behind the wall…
"Look at me!! Yang!!"
"Yin…" he called her name, he's the only one who can call her by that name apart from her father.
"I wasn't late this time, I finally made it on time…" she said
"Yang… please don't do this, I don't want to lose you like my father"
Right, she wasn't there when her father died is that why even with all the odds along her way here, she still ran barefooted just to save him? Is it because she doesn't want the same thing with her father to happen again? is that why she said she made it on time?
"You're the only family I have now… please I need you!! Please don't leave me…"
'I NEED YOU' those words felt like a knife, I couldn't stop thinking that she might be in love with her best friend, maybe she just won't admit it to herself… Doesn't she feel like I'm her family too? I know I shouldn't be thinking about this now, but after witnessing all this, after knowing how far she can do for Ivan, how far she can sacrifice for him, makes me think if I'm needed in her life.
"Coleen asked me to protect you if you'll do anything reckless, I guess she saw this coming… Yang I never thought you could do this to yourself!!"
I never thought you'd gone this far to save him too…
"please don't do this, don't leave me…"
I'm afraid I'll be the one saying those lines, I don't want to be in a situation where I will beg you to stay…
"Yin!!"
What's going on??
"What happened?!!" I went inside the bathroom and saw Ivan hugging Ivy and I noticed all the blood on the floor…
"Ivy!! Wake up" I said
I heard an ambulance and I heard several people from the door
"Please come up here!!" I shouted
It was a good thing Ivy was able to tell Clair to send an ambulance before she left…
I took Ivy from Ivan and carried him outside, gladly the emergency team was here…
"Ummm… she was in a car accident earlier"
"Was it the car from the express way?"
"Yes…"
"She must've run towards here and she must've lost a lot of blood… please check on her well…"
"We will bring her to the hospital"
They took her to the ambulance…
"Sir, please come with us… we also need to check you…" the nurse told Ivan…
"I'll follow you to the hospital…" I told the nurse…
I went to my car and followed them to the hospital…
Ivy was getting treated by the doctors, they said she lost a lot of blood… after a while she was transferred into a private room…
*knock *knock
"Bro, I'm sorry she got harmed because of me…"
I swear I wanted to throw a punch but I know it won't do good especially with the situation…
"If only she won't be mad at me, I would have thrown a punch into your face!!"
"I didn't know she would come and stop me…"
"I hate to say this myself, but she loves you in a way I couldn't possibly understand!! She even ran in the rain barefooted with an injured head from the site of the accident just to save your ass!!!"
"What kind of accident?"
"While driving on her way to your house it was raining hard, I bet you know she couldn't drive when it rains since she tells you everything about her, she hit a light post, when I checked, she wasn't there so I thought she must've have ran towards your place after I saw a pair of her stiletto along the way. "
"I shouldn't have done this…"
"You just realized how stupid you were?!?"
"Yuan…" I heard her voice
"Ivy are you feeling better? Are you hurting somewhere?" I asked
"Where's Yang?" instead of answering me, that's the first thing she asked when she woke up…
"I'm right here Yin…"
She reached out her arm to tell Ivan to come closer…
"Han… can you please leave us for a moment?"
do I have a choice?
"I'll be outside" I said
YANG IVAN ZHENG's POV
I never thought she would come after me, I didn't even tell her where I am but she still found me. I regret doing such a stupid thing…
I never meant to cause her harm I didn't want her to get hurt, it's the least thing I want. It must've been so hard fighting her trauma while driving in the rain just to save me… I owe her big time… I hope she wakes up soon…
After getting checked at the ER I went to her room, I saw Yuan watching over her, all worried. That's why when I came in all I could do is tell him how sorry I was. I know that he wanted to punch me and if ever he did, I wouldn't even fight back, but he didn't he's a better man than I thought he was.
I was glad when Yin finally opened her eyes and looked for me. I feel ashamed to face her…
But she reached out her hand and gave me a smile, telling me everything's fine… I sat down beside her bed.
"Han… can you please leave us for a moment?" she asked Yuan
"I'll be outside"
After Yuan went outside the first words that came out of my mouth was…
"I'm sorry Yin…"
but she took my hand and said…
"I'm just glad you're fine, don't ever do that again, I don't want to lose you, I'll be here, I'll help you move forward for the sake of the people that needs you…��
When she said that, it finally hit me that there are people who needs me, my mother and father, the people from the company, and Ivy, she's indeed my soulmate…
So, for a few days I watched over her when Yuan would go to his office, we took turns watching over her. I know Yuan felt uncomfortable with that.
After Yin got out of the hospital, I fixed myself and started doing the things I used to do, just like nothing happened… Whenever I have some spare time out of the office I visit Yin at the Villa or at the HQ, sometimes I overlapped with Yuan when he visits and I definitely know that he has more rights because he's the boyfriend, so I give them space and pretends I just dropped by to give some papers.
Honestly, I asked her to help me with my psychological state, she recommended me to a psychiatrist she used to visit before. That's also a part of the reason why I often visit her. But there are times when I really find it hard and always run to her. She just felt like a refuge, whenever my emotions burst, she's always there. I often call her in the middle of the night whenever I dreamt of the day I lost Coleen and when I can't control my emotions and suddenly thinks something bad I tend to go to the villa even if it's in the middle of the night, I'm afraid if I go to my parents' house, they'll just be dead-worried so instead, I look for Yin and she never complains about it even though I know she's also having a hard time because of me, instead she encourages me and told me it's fine, she supports me from behind like she always does.
"So, you kicked out a board member from my company?" I asked while taking a sip from the chamomile tea Yin prepared. I'm having an after-dinner tea with her at her house after a long day in the office…
"Ohh! right!!! I haven't told you yet… well I'll just send you the evidences I presented at the board meeting…" she sat across, in front of me…
"Thank you, Yin…"
"For what?"
"For protecting a lot of important things when I was away…"
"There's no need to thank me…" then she flashed a smile, when I looked at that smile, it was the same smile she wore way back when her father is still around… I could feel her completeness… Her smile was contagious and without knowing I was smiling too…
"Don't you feel like before?" she suddenly asked
"Huh??"
"When we were playing tea party in this same garden?"
"Ohhh! Right!! Well, I never really liked that tea party…" I confessed
"What?! I thought you liked that!!"
"Well I pretended to, because you always ask me to play with you and you had that kitten eyes flashed every time you invite me to your tea party, how could I resist you?"
I never liked playing something girly but it was her that was asking me to play. Even though we're the same age, but I was born earlier of the same year so I treated her like a younger sister. Whenever she asks me favor I always tend to her requests because I loved seeing her happy.
"Hmmm" she again flashed a smile but this time it was different then her smile faded and I could feel her sadness
"Yang, thank you for staying with me at that time, you didn't make me feel incomplete even when my mom wasn't around, you never made fun of me because of it. My childhood was somehow beautiful thanks to you…"
I never knew she thought of me that way, because of her words I am more comforted and I felt more needed, I once again found value of myself.
"Don't you think we're really soulmates?" she asked and looked at me sincerely
"I think we are…" I said and I meant it, our friendship withstand distance, lost communication, and our own challenges in life but here we are, each other's support system.
"It's like you were born to be there for me, as a proxy for my mom" she said
"And it's like you were born to protect and save me from troubles…" I said
"Let's be like this forever…" she looked at me with a smile as she said those words…
