I smiled at her, getting up from the blue leather sofa in my room, straightening my dress, and capturing a mirror selfie before meeting my date, unknown to what awaits me tonight.
I walked over to the balcony to find Reyhaan waiting patiently for me, with a bouquet of yellow wildflowers. He got me a damn bouquet, of flowers, so late in the night?
Isn't this something I have always wished for?
A man who brings me flowers every time he meets me?
But the devil on my left shoulder suddenly asks me, "Is it? Is it really the thing you have always wanted?" I quickly shut her up and resume walking towards him, with a forced smile now.
When I walked over to him, I could smell his perfume, mild yet sweet, and so nostalgic to bring me back to the day we met.
His face was more mature than before, but his eyes remained the same. Just like how he has grown to a man from a boy, but his scent remains how I remember it.
In this whirlpool of emotions, I zoned out from the moment, staring blank at his eyes, only for him to call my name and snap me out of it.
"Roop." he called, "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, yes I'm fine. Just business things." I snapped out of my thoughts "Come, have a seat." ushering him towards the patio where the dinner was setup.
Upon reaching the dining area, Reyhaan handed me over the flowers, and I could sense that he was already nervous.
"I got them for you. Since you like bright flowers, I assumed you would love these."
"Oh my, I love them!" I exclaimed with pure joy as he handed me over the prettiest wildflowers I have ever seen.
Well, it is true. I love bright flowers, even if it is as underrated as Bougainvilleas or Gazanias, I love them. I wonder where he learnt this from.
And then, he pulled the chair for me before taking a seat in front of me.
"You look beautiful, Roop. Like the stars shine solely to admire your beauty, and even the most beautiful flowers would bloom only to be overshadowed by you." Reyhaan said to me as I was admiring the flowers.
I could only stare at him in reverence and affection, and when my lips could not respond to his worship, my eyes did- a single tear falling out.
As soon as Reyhaan noticed this, he put his hand on mine, in a gentle, yet reassuring manner, "Hey, did I say something wrong? I... I am so sorry if I have hurt you..."
"Hey, hey... no. I am not hurt. I am fine" I assured him, "Just that I never expected to be compared to the stars and flowers."
"Cheesy, wasn't it?" he asked quirking a brow.
God! He is so sexy when he does that, but I chose to laugh it off.
"I love cheese." I say, where 'I am lactose intolerant' was silent!
