Earthlings

Anika finished her house cleaning. Well, it's more of house disinfection since she used some bleach solution to make sure that all the germs and viruses are dead.

With the virus outbreak is all over the news, she can't be lenient about their place. She has kids running around the farm with their father, Evan.

She saw the three of them approaching the porch. They live on Evan's father's farm now. It's beautiful and quiet and not so many people around.

"Mom! Look what I've got!" Celestia said out loud while walking towards her.

She's holding some freshly harvested corn in her hand. Anika waved at them.

The twins are bigger now. It's been twelve years since they were born. A year before the incident from The Corp happened.

Evan and Anika had their fraternal twins named after the prince and princess of the Mother Planet.

Celestia and Astro.

They are twelve now, but they looked like adults now. Maybe it's because of their DNA that happens to be altered with another species before.

But they are beautiful children. They look flawlessly perfect in a literal sense. That's why they don't bring them whenever they go to the town proper to buy some food supplies.

Anika remembered bringing them when they were five years old. It's supposed to be a family day for them, but having perfect-looking kids around is not a good idea.

People noticed their presence, and they end up going home without anything. They are crowding the twins, mesmerized by them. The twins got scared because of the crowd.

Some are even crying by just looking at them. They said they get emotional to see two beautiful children. It seems that the twins have an effect on those people, and Anika got worried.

The townspeople adored the twin so much. Well, a little bit too much since they are acting very strange. As if they are praying to the twins and hoping that they will get noticed by them.

People get hysterical every time they see them. That's why Anika and Evan decided just to let them outside the house but never away from the farm.

It's been years since they went out there. But until now, people they didn't even know are sending food supplies and other stuff for the twins.

"Mom, here's your corn. I picked them myself!" Celestia said, causing Anika to get back to the previous time.

She saw four pieces of corn from Celestia's hand and accept them. She chuckled.

"So we only have one each?" she asked her.

Celestia nodded.

"It's hard to get more. But Astro and Dad have more."

Anika looked at her two boys. They looked like each other so much with the exemption that Astro can sometimes seem as if there's a ray of sunshine whenever you look at him.

Evan kissed her on her cheek.

"Yup, we have more! Boys can't eat just one corn, you know." looking at Celestia.

Celestia folded her arms on her chest and made a duck face.

Evan and Anika laughed at her reaction.

"Astro, can you put these corns in the kitchen, please?"

Astro took the corn from his mother's hand and informed Celestia to help him out.

Celestia to the other corn from his father's hand, and they both went inside the kitchen.

Evan put his arms around Anika's shoulder. She wrapped her right arm to his waist.

"Did you see the news about the virus?" Evan asked her.

Anika sighed and said, " Yeah, it's getting worse. I wonder if your sisters can go home. It's not safe in New York right now."

"I already told Dad about it. But he said that they couldn't get out of there because the place is on lockdown."

Anika looks worried. Evans sisters are living in New York, and it's the epicenter of the virus outbreak. It's not safe to be there.

"Do you think that it's just a virus from here? I mean, from this planet?" Evan asked her.

"They said it came from South Korea. But I dont agree. That country is very clean ad beautiful. Although there is a virus outbreak from Busan in the past." she mentioned.

Even if they are not saying it, they both know that something extraordinary is happening. The virus outbreaks occurred after the astronauts who came to Mars arrived to inform everyone that the planet is ready to move in.

The government may be hiding something from everyone about the origins of the virus. But Anika and Evan decided to stay on Earth even if they can afford to move to Mars in the future.

They have to stay on the farm for Evan's father. He will never consider moving to another planet. The farm is his life and the memory of his wife, Evan's mother.

Plus, she doesn't want to expose the twins to other people if they have to take the space shuttle. They saw their effect on other people. It may become a problem if some scientists find out about them.

"Mom! Dad! Look at the news!" Celestia said in a loud and panicky voice.

Evan and Anika rushed to see what's up on the news.

There they saw footage from New York. The Times Square lights are already out, and everything is falling apart.

All the cars are not moving from the traffic anymore as some traffic lights are exploding one by one.

"Call your sisters! We need to rescue them from what's happening there!" Anika ordered his husband.

Evan already has his phone contacting his sisters, who are currently in New York. Everything is collapsing in that place. How can they even get out?

"The number you dialed is unattended...Please try your call later…"

Evan dialed again.

"The number you dialed is unattended...Please try your call later…"

And again…

"The number you dialed is unattended...Please try your call later…"

" I think the signal is gone. I need to pick them up from there." Evan said.

"That's a long drive! There are no flights right now!" Anika said in a worried tone.

"Well, I have to try. Make sure to lock the doors when I leave. Don't go anywhere until we return." Evan ordered.

Anika nodded as panic sets in. She helped her husband to pack some things that he will need for the trip.

It will take Evan more than 21 hours of drive from Louisiana to New York by his truck. It's about 1,500 miles away from where they are.

"I will pack some food for you as well. Were not sure if you can find anything open while you're on the road," she said to her husband.

Anika left Evan whose packing some clothes in their room and went to the kitchen. She needs to have enough food for her husband a well as for his sisters in case they dont have time to eat anymore.

Moments had passed, and everything is ready. Evan is ready to go and already on his truck. The twins and Anika are saying goodbye to him.

"Dad, why can't I go?" Astro asked Evan.

Evan looked at Anika and turned to Astro. "Look, you need to be here for your sister and mother. They are ladies that you need to protect while I'm away."

Anika smiled and talked to her son. " A, we need you here. Plus, your Dad will have to get your aunts so it will be crowded if you tag along."

Astro seems not convinced but gave in. As if he can do anything about his arent's decision. He wants to go on a trip too since they have been staying on this farm forever.

Celestia is just playing cool on the side. She's more independent than Astro, who always wants to be near their Dad.

"My lady, come here and give your prince a kiss!" Evan said teasingly.

Anika obliged and gave Evan a passionate kiss.

"Eiw! That's gross!" the twins complained.

Evan and Anika laughed because of the twin's reaction.

"I'll be back as soon as I find them! I love you, My Lady!" Evan said.

"I love you more, my prince!" she replied.

Evan started his truck and drove away.

The three of them waved goodbye to Evan as his truck disappeared from their sight.

"Mom, I'm curious. Why Dad call you My Lady, and he said he's your prince? Aren't you old enough to be king and queens instead?" Celestia asked.

Anika chuckled. "You will know about it when the time comes. Let's get in!"

Astro is already ahead of them on the way to their house. Anika and Celestia followed him.

If they knew the story behind their terms of endearment, she's not sure if they will even want to know the whole story.

She's sure that being a princess of the entire planet is not easy. So much more if she will be the queen.

Then she thought of Andie. How is she doing right now?
