Training with Uriel the archangel

I tossed and turned on the stoney bed. sleeping was impossible!. I visualised all that happened to me and not even a meaningful explanation accounts clearly for whatever was happening to me. I was restless.

If somebody told me that this would happen to me four years back, I would have laughed in their faces and made sure they saw a doctor.

The unexpected happened and now, turns out I died to become a superhero in another world..HA!

I don't know how many hours passed, was it morning already?, There is no means to know the time here. No sun!, No light! it feels like it's always Dawn here. Even though, there was something about this Dark land. The darkness that fogged this world has hidden away the beauty and colours.

A couple of hours passed and still no sign of sleep coming. I was tracing imaginary patterns in the air with my fingers until I started feeling drowsy. as my eyes were fluttering shut, I felt strong wind blowing me. I snuggled closer to the robe I was wearing to chase away the cold.

"Rise and shine Earth boy" he spoke rather too loudly that I shot up on impulse. just when I finally succeeded to get some sleep is when he shows up here. wait is it morning, does it mean I stayed all night awake?

"So this is how your morning looks like...?" I asked my voice husky with drowsiness.

"well I don't see anything from in here do you?" he asked mischievously.

"Don't be so full of your self Mi...." before I could finish my comeback four pair of wings propelled through the wall.

"Good Morning Mark" Uriel and Raphael said in unison, I settled with a head nod.

"Well we should be heading to the training room, we have less time in our hands"

I looked at Uriel, he was more serious than Michael and Raphael. the grumpy one I see...

"why can't you guys fight this demon, why do you need me for that?" Uriel sprouted his wings to fly closer to me.

"Archangels are more powerful than demons aren't they" He nodded in favour of the statement.

"Yes, you're right, demons don't stand a chance in battle with Archangels"

"Then why do you need me?" I asked to be obvious.

"Because we are no longer archangels, we are just seraphims, we lost our powers to the demon Queen when she unleashed Tartarus on us"

I turn to look at my tough boy Michael and then Raphael back to Uriel.

"That's why you have wings?" I asked rhetorically. In the angelological articles, Archangels do not have wings bodies or swords. seraphims are lower ranks than the Archangels. So this is why Michael told me they couldn't fight this demon, because she already took away their powers thus hiding behind the shadows.

"purity and innocence of an angel are very rare traits to find nowdays" Uriel added to the already spinning thoughts in my mind. I looked at him with look of a wake up call.

"I can pass through objects, I have super powers and I'm neither dead nor alive, does it mean....?" I was loading too slow that Uriel finished the sentence for me.

"You are the only Archangel left in the universe, Chosen by God's and nature to protect your kind, The fate of us all rests on your shoulders, Though from different origins and circumstances, we have become a family".

"We are going to train together and make sure we do this in unity, we won't go down without a fight, what do you say!" Raphael spoke in politeness and sencerity I haven't seen ever since I got here.

I closed my eyes tightly digesting everything that Uriel have said. I remembered my mother, my life and Dikeledi?. why her? of all people. before I could contradict myself even more I force my eyes open. punched the bridge of my nose. I sniffed a little and shaked my head to clear my mind.

"Let's go, we have less time in our hands don't we?"

I insisted Uriel, who inturn looked at Raphael to order something.

"prepare his chambers, he has no reason to remain in the dungeon any longer"

I felt my jaw dropping to the floor and my eyes skidding out of their sockets., dungeons???

"Dungeon, as in prison??..... Were you keeping me in a cell?? No wonder there are no windows and it's dark in here!?"

"listen Mark, we had no where else to keep you, the survivors down there are still in panick, that's why we isolated you from everyone incase you were a danger to them"

Yeah right, I brushed past them, to realise that I wasn't familiar with around here so I just told Uriel to lead the way.

This is totally out of my resume for training. this is absurd. is he trying to kill me? I look back to the impatient looking Uriel.

"I can't do this...This is suicide!!" I look at the blocks above the boiling lava like liquid. look at the huge distance between the blocks and he just asked me to jump!!

"just believe it, and jump. your immortal ofcourse you can't die..Jump!" He commanded again and I had to swallow the big lump that bothered my throat.

"What if I fall....?" I asked innocently

"I have wings, I'll catch you before you make it down"

I closed my eyes, trying to tune my brain into believing that I can make it and even if I won't he'll fly to catch me before I dip in the boiling red magma.

I prepared my nerves as I sprint towards the edge and bounce jumping like how I was instructed.
