The Audition Day

Yang Woo-Jin was heading back home after training in his studio for a while. But on the way, his driver collided with someone else's car.

Woo-Jin didn't wanted to bother with it but since his driver had already gone, he didn't stop him. Realizing that the person wouldn't budge, Woo-Jin had thought of calling his driver back but he stopped when he saw a familiar figure step out of the car.

If he hadn't met that person yesterday, he wouldn't have found this person so familiar. A curvy smile covered his lips as he saw Da-Jung using her smarty brain for a talk. Since the talk between these two was getting up to nowhere, Woo-Jin decided that it was better to give money for repair. After all, the damage done to their car was more compared to his own car.

"Tsk! You didn't change even now, Byeon Da-Jung!" Another unreadable smile carried on his face and he giggled.

"So… you are saying Yang Woo-Jin is your husband?" Sitting inside a small restaurant, Sina asked while eating her bite of dakbal(1). She was so much in shock and really wasn't able to digest any of Da-Jung's words at all.

Covering Sina's mouth with her hand, Da-Jung hit her forehead. "Are you crazy? Do you want the entire world to know that I was married to him?" She asked with an almost unbelievable look on her face.

"That would also be okay!" Sina joked while taking another bite from her dakbal.

While eating dakbal, Da-Jung shared everything about what happened between her and Woo-Jin and how they took a divorce. The dakbal she was having was an amazing and delicious dish but since the topic which she was talking about was not an interesting one, Da-Jung lost her appetite.

She barely ate anything and accompanied her friend who was eating as if she hadn't eaten for hundreds or thousands of years. When Sina was done eating, Da-Jung took out her purse to pay and Sina stopped her. "It was my treat, idiot!" Sina called the waiter and paid the bill.

Observing her friend who was broken, Sina pulled Da-Jung into a hug. "Sorry! I should have not involved you in this." She lightly caressed her back.

Taking it as a chance, Da-Jung opened her mouth to speak. She believed that if she was to say that she can't do it now, Sina would agree. But who knew that before Da-Jung would even start speaking, Sina would interfere her and say "But now that you are involved... don't back off! Just do it one last time and I promise, you will receive a fixed position, I swear!"

Da-Jung rolled her eyes "Tsk! I hate you, idiot!"

"I love you for hating me, idiot!"

Three days after, Da-Jung once again stepped foot inside the company which she never wanted to see again. The reason was simple; she was called here for auditioning for the upcoming concert and it was all thanks to her friend.

As much as Da-Jung disliked being in Woo-Jin's company, she was a little bit satisfied that she was doing something which she always wanted to do. If not a singer, she was happy to be a pianist just for a short while. And somewhere deep in the corner of her heart, she was also satisfied to see her ex-husband achieve something and be successful.

Seeing a long list of candidates standing in a queue, Da-Jung called Sina. The thing was that Sina had told Da-Jung that she would be the only one and they would start with the training right away... So, why were there many people here?

When Sina picked up the call, Da-Jung walked to a corner and asked. To which Sina replied that it was because of the delay in their reply that it was posted on the social media and many wanted to audition for it.

Da-Jung observed the young and beautiful girls who might have just been in the start of their 20's, wearing pretty clothes while holding a bunch of papers in their hands.

Compared to them, Da-Jung looked plain; SO VERY PLAIN!

She was dressed in a brown midi-skirt and white t-shirt. Why Da-Jung had dressed plain because she thought that she didn't need to dress up for a training. Da-Jung opened her hair which was tied in a messy bun and combed her hair with her fingers.

As she was combing her hair, she stopped and asked herself "Why am I even combing my hair and comparing myself to these young girls? It is good if I don't get selected. I never wanted to come here in the first place."

Although her words were like this, Da-Jung just wanted to atleast give an audition and be selected. Or atleast... maybe she would be thinking way too far with these many competitors but just once in her life, Da-Jung wanted to be on stage and do something which people would recall her for or be appreciated.

That time in college, Da-Jung regretted running away from that competition. Had she sung that day, she would have been acknowledged for her voice or maybe she would have received offers to study abroad or maybe she would have been scouted by some entertainment company.

Da-Jung sighed and looked down at the grey marbled floor with a defeated look.

"Miss Byeon Da-Jung?" After some two hours, a woman dressed in a pencil skirt and top opened the door and called out for Da-Jung. Hearing her name being called, she raised her hand with a delighted smile on her face and the woman took her inside the room.

As she walked inside to bow at the judges, she saw them walking out of the door through which she had just entered. With a confused yet frightened expression, Da-Jung looked at the woman who had taken her inside.

The woman smiled and asked her to sit.

In the spacious white room, Da-Jung sat alone on the chair while waiting for the judges to come. She turned around only to see that the woman had also gone.

And Da-Jung waited while wiping the sweat forming on her palms to her skirt. She began to get nervous and so she started rubbing her hands to one another. When this didn't work out, she anxiously tapped her feet on the white tiled floor.

"I didn't think that you would also come here to audition, Miss Byeon Da-Jung."

Hearing a familiar voice, Da-Jung cursed. Her hunch was so right. Ever since, Da-Jung had seen the judges walk away, she took a guess that maybe the person who would come to interview would be none other than the owner of the company himself. Hence the reason why she was frightened and confused at the same time.

She thought that she was too much into soap operas that she was thinking that way and shrugged her head. But she cursed when her hunch was right and she had heard his voice.
