The Blue Portal

After being at the top of the Eiffel tower for about 10 minutes. I had my arm around her as she had her head set on my shoulder. We were enjoying the gorgeous view of the city of Paris. I wanted to take in as much as I could before we leave.

I heard a small sigh. I looked down as her kissing her forehead.

"This is so nice." She breathed out.

"Yeah, if only we could stay." I said looking back at the view.

"Yeah, I know but we really should head back now."

"Yeah, your probably right."

I begin preparing the portal gun when I hear the all too familiar noise.

My heart sank.

'I swear that sounds just like a clicker. The question is, how did one get UP here?'

I quickly look behind us hoping to be wrong. That's when I see a blue portal with a clicker creeping from inside.

Me and Jess both backed away from one another as I held out the gun seeing another coming out.

Without hesitation I shot the ground right below them watching them fall through.

We both breathed out hard.

"Kyle.... That was a blue portal. Which only means that could have been someone from the agency."

"Wait, is it possible it could have been Cody? But... how did he make one?" I asked trying to put the pieces together."

"Wait so.. this means he can show up whenever he desires and attack us.. He's going to kill us!" She said becoming paranoid.

"Hey, hey." I grab her hands trying to calm her.

"Don't worry, if he shows his face we will be ready." I reassured.

"Kyle.... I just want a normal life after this is over. I'm tired of being in danger constantly. I'm starting to worry something will happen."

"Jess, we will stop him at any cost and you will get the life you truly desire. I promise."

She smiled up at me with hopeful eyes.

"Okay, I'll hold you to that promise."

Suddenly we were interrupted by footsteps nearby. I look and I see two guys stepping through the blue portal. l see one more try come out. I quickly shot the portal hearing him scream out as half his body got sliced in half. The others looked at me furiously.

"He killed Peter!!" One shout with disdain.

Both their attention go to Jess instead of me.

"We just came to deal with her, we will deal with him later." Said the other.

They both walked toward her with malice in their eyes. Without thinking I walked in front of Jess holding my gun at them.

"Look Luke, it looks like someone wants to die."

"Hmm you killed our friend. Do you have a death wish, boy? If you don't move away from her right now, I'll be sure to do what you did to Pete."

I grit my teeth in anger. "If you think I'm just going to leave her side your dumber than I thought. If your that determined to get to her you will have to go through me. I assure you, I'm not easy to handle."

"Ohh I see, well in that case."

I see one hold out a blue gun.

"I'll give you to the count of 3 to move. If you refuse I won't show mercy."

I didn't response nor did I move.

"1....2..."

With eyes locked on his I dropped my gun seeing the shock on his face as he watched it fall. I clapped my hands close to his face to break his concentration. When I saw he was disoriented I quickly tackled him to the ground while knocking the gun from his hand.

He gasped for air as the wind was knocked out.

"Fuck!!!" The other yelled as he quickly ran at me pulling out a knife. I felt my body jolt as I realized he was too close and I was disarmed.

I held out my hand in fear. Then I see a green portal begin to open through his chest. He spit blood looking down at the hole. He looked down in horror as it suddenly grew and consumed his body until there was nothing left.

I watched as I feel relieved but slightly horrified by what I just saw. As I was processing what was happening I felt a strong jab in my rib. I yelled out as I was punched in the face while also forced to the ground. I quickly recovered to only get harshly pushed into Jess.

Trying to keep my eyes on him, I held my rib feeling the nearly debilitating pain. I hear something break behind me forcing me to look over my shoulder on instinct. My body went in shock when I see Jess had crashed into the railing of the balcony causing it to break. Loosing her balance, she screamed out as she grabbed onto the edge.

"Jess!!!!"

With my full attention locked on her I practically threw myself toward her. I grabbed her outstretched arm.

"Kyle please..." She begged while grabbing back.

I grit my teeth trying to pull her but the pain in my rib was causing me problems. I grabbed the railing of the balcony to use as leverage.

"Jess, I need you to let go of the ledge." I said through my teeth trying to hurry knowing that the enemy's next attack was moments away.

When she let go I used all my strength to pull her up towards me and myself back by the railing. The action made it feel as though my ribs were going to collapse as they were most likely broken already, causing me to collapse to my hands and knees. Already feeling my body could not continue, I felt a sharp burning pain as something punctured into my back. For a moment time seemed to stop as I hear a scream that wasn't my own. Realizing that whatever this new pain was had caused me to lose grip, I was now forced to watch as the woman I loved began to fall.

As time started again, my body seemed to move without thought and much faster that I thought possible. I rolled over seeing the guy hovering over me with a bloody knife and bending over reaching for something near the ledge. Following is hand with my eyes I see the portal gun Jess had just used to obliterate his partner. I grabbed his wrist and kicked in a pushing motion and using is forward momentum to effectively launch him over the edge, now falling right behind Jess.

Rolling back to look down again I'm shocked to see that Jess had only fallen about half the distance to the ground. 'Is my adrenaline making it as though time has slowed.' I thought, when suddenly I realized that I was now holding the portal gun and aiming directly at the ground below Jess and our assailant. I pressed the back button on the display and see it flash to previous destination and fired, praying that it would work at this distance.

The green circle appeared, looking as if only a small dot from the height, just in time for Jess to fall through. At the same moment I see the horizontal exit portal appear in the same spot we had crossed through when we had arrived. Jess burst through as if falling sideways through the air, rolling briefly as she made contact with the floor the the tower's platform before popping up to her feet. Relieved, I deactivated the portal gun before the, now flattened, enemy could fall through as well. I rolled on my back closing my eyes with shakiness in my breath.

"Kyle!! Oh my god!! Your bleeding!!" I hear her exclaim while I felt her hands touching my chest.

I was unable to speak feeling as though I could pass out in any moment. She grabbed both my hands forcing me to sit up. I groaned out loud feeling light headed. She grunted as she somehow helped me onto my feet. I felt my whole body nearly limp as I hear her set a portal. Before I could register what was happening I felt a breeze hit my face as I suddenly hear several voices before passing out.
