Chapter 27

As Ruby went back home, she puts down the letter and her handbag on the table. She tie up her orange hair into bun and look into the mirror. Then she touch the reflex of herself in the mirror.

"Is this who I meant to be?"

Her looks turns into despair. She recall every memory of assassination she have made since she was 10.Ruby closes her eyes and shake her head.

"Well it all in the past right?" She whisper to herself. Ruby went to the wash room to take a quick shower.

Ruby use her comfortable grey colour night dress and make herself a cup of milk. She took the letter and seat on her bed to read it.

My dear Rue,

Rue, I heard that you will come to visit me next month form your friend, Miss Iris. Thanks to her, I am not alone now. Rue do you know that I could walk around the garden already. The therapy really works, Rue. I am glad that you are working in a stable condition and be able to pay for my medical fee. Without you, I am not sure weather if I could go on with my life after mother die. As a elder sister of yours, I should be the one to take care of you....but now my leg can't really functional like last time. If only father could think more rationally, I might be the one who is taking care of you.

As a sister, I have failed mother. But I promise you that I will get better and work together with you in our dream cafe. Rue, in this letter I have place a picture of you on your seventh birthday. Remember to bring it with you when you move here with me. I love you some much, Rue. Till we meet again.

"Hm... 'friend' huh? She could kill you instantly if I failed any mission they gave me. So much of a friend....." Ruby scolded slowly as she finish the letter.

She take out the picture and see her sister Bella and her when she was 7 and her sister was 10. She saw her mother on the back of her. She was preparing the cake for my birthday. And her father take pictures of them that day.

"It was peaceful at that time, isn't it? If only I didn't fall sick that day, maybe mother would still alive and father wouldn't turn into beasts." Her eyes slowly turn red and her tears are falling.

"If only.....if only I could stop Dad....." Ruby pull the picture near her chest and sobs.

"I hate him a lot..... I wish Mom is still alive....I wish that night never happened.."

16 years ago...

"Dad, please stop! It hurts a lot!! I promise I won't be naughty again!!" 9 years olds Ruby was crying as her father hit her continuously with a wood.

"You useless scum! If only you didn't make your mother leave to find doctor that night, she will be alive right now! It was you who cause her to die. If only you were death from your birth, my wife wouldn't die that night for you!!!" Her father scold her.

He raise his hand holding the wood and swing it hard to hit her leg.

"Rue!!!" Her sister Bella rushes to save her sister Rue. She uses her body as a shield to protect Rue from his father.

"Ah!!" Bella scream as his father hit her leg continuously. Her father doesn't seems to care about her. He just keep on hitting her legs while curse both of them.

"Useless brat!! Both of you should've die instead of your mother!!"

"Stop it!!" Suddenly a man voice scream at him. Their father turn to see who is messing with him.

The mid 30's Zachary was there standing. "You shouldn't hit your young daughters. They are still young."

Rue's father was angry and he run towards him. "Go to hell you fcker!!!" Zachary dodge his attack and pull his arm. He press it hard till Rue's father let go of the wood. Zachary hit his neck and he past out.

Zachary look at the both of them and smile.

"So, you are Rue and that girl next to you are your sister Bella, right?"

Rue nod her head while holding her sister and asked him,"Why do you want mister?" Zachary smile at her and told her with his calm voice.

"Do you want to make a deal with me, little one?"
