"... You got it, bro! I'll tell the Winchesters!" Adrian yelled at a man obscured by the shade of the store where he came from. He had a radiant smile on his face as he walked towards his black 1967 Chevrolet Impala.
He wore a blue suit with a matching crimson red tie. On his left hand was a black suitcase, but for some reason, it was incredibly heavy. Adrian frowned. "Huh? weird."
Without minding it any further, Adrian placed his super heavy suitcase on the roof of his car denting it in the process. Adrian just laughed it off as if it was a normal occurrence to him. "Pfff! A small price to pay for my sin." He sighed and drove off leaving his suitcase still on the roof of his car.
While driving on a long, one-way highway, he chatted with his babe sitting beside him in the driver's seat, looking at him passionately as if he was the world to her and no one else.
She wore nothing but a two-piece bathing suit, revealing a great amount of her milky white skin. Her long, silky smooth blond hair swayed every time she moved her head. She had the face of an Angel. Her humongous mountains jiggled as Adrian continued driving. She was Adrian's exact dream girl!
"Oh, babe, where are we going?" The babe asked seductively. Her mouth almost touches Adrian's ear. Her smell and hot breath caused Adrian to almost stand up from his seat.
Adrian's heart started to race. His heartbeat was faster than his car that is currently running at Mach 7! His muscles tensed up but soon relaxed as he controlled his breathing. He looked at her babe without a care on the road. Their eyes met each other. Then, Adrian, as if he was prince charming, told her with his sweetest and most charming voice "We are going to bikini bottom, to hunt monsters."
The babe looked at him surprised, but at the same time, impressed! The look that the babe gave him sent a hot sensation throughout his entire body! The babe leaned in closer and closer until their lips were only a centimeter away from each other. "You know, babe, I've always wanted to say this to you."
"What?" Adrian asked as he put more gas on the pedal, further accelerating his car to almost the speed of light! The car started to shudder as it gained more and more speed. Then, the radio turned on, playing one of his favorite songs.
The babe opened her mouth and said "I tried so hard and got so far, but in the end..."
"Wha-!" Before Adrian can even utter a single word, he woke up to the tune of his alarm clock. He just woke up, but he can only barely remember what was his dream about, but he knows it was a good one.
Adrian turned off his alarm ringing from his phone. He checked the time to make sure that the alarm that woke him up was the first one from the long list of alarms he set last night. Fortunately, it was! It was only [7:00] in the morning which was surprising to him since normally, he was barely able to wake up on his third alarm.
"Ugh..." Adrian sat on the edge of his messy, single person bed, still sleepy. He just sat there and stared at the wall in front of him, sighing and yawning from time to time for a few minutes.
But then, a sudden realization hit him hard. His eyes widened and his heart started to beat faster and faster, almost jumping out of his chest! He looked at his phone again to check what time it was.
"Why... WHY THE HELL DID I SET MY ALARM AT 7?!" Adrian has a job interview today and it was scheduled at 8:30 this morning. Now, it would sound like he still got time, but the problem is that the place where his job interview is too far. It would take at least an hour to get there, not even considering the traffic!
"Fuck!" Realizing how stupid he was, Nathan stood up, bolted out of his room, and hurriedly went to the bathroom to bathe and brush his teeth at the same time to save his precious time.
After about fifteen minutes in the toilet, Adrian emerged and quickly put on his cheap, rented blue suit. There's still visible wrinkles all over his suit, but he didn't mind. Fixed his disheveled black hair and put on some of that cologne.
He read on the internet when he was hunting for a job that first impressions are important, so he cannot be late! He will surely lose the chance to finally get the perfect job.
Adrian, a twenty-two years old man, living in a shabby apartment with barely any appliances. He just graduated almost a year ago, but he's still looking for a job. He had a job, a cook in a fast-food restaurant, but he already resigned two months ago. He worked in that restaurant for three years. It got him through his college life, he was a student by day and a cook by night. but now that he finally graduated, it is time for him to find a new and more suitable job for him. Plus, his current job barely pays his rent anyway.
This is an opportunity that cannot go to waste! Also, he's already running out of money. A nice job would really help him.
As soon as Adrian left his apartment, a low, hoarse voice came from behind him. "Ian, are you forgetting something?"
Adrian winced at the voice of this old man. Right now, he doesn't have the time to argue about the rent! He slowly turned around and looked at the frowning old man with his most polite smile.
"Barry! Hey! Good Morning! Aren't you too old to wake up so early?" Adrian said with a tinge of hurriedness in his voice.
"I'm only 70! Ahem... Anyway, that's a nice suit you're wearing! That must've cost you a lot, which means..." Barry grinned as he held out his palm wide open in front of Adrian.
Adrian sighed in exasperation. "You're right, Barry. This really cost me a lot." He tried his best to look as pitiful as possible to Barry and then said "That is why I can't pay right now. This is my chance to finally achieve my dream job! So please, forgive me I can't pay you right now, just this month."
"..." Barry looked at him with his old, shriveled eyes.
"Come on, you know me, Barry. I always pay on time! If I get this job, I might even be able to pay a few months in advance. Just this one time, Barry".
Barry sighed as if he was so exhausted. "Fine, but if you lose this job, you will also lose your apartment. Got it?"
"Yes, old ma- I mean Barry!" Adrian was smiling again as he turned around and practically ran towards the street to call a taxi.
He stood there for a good five minutes waiting for a taxi to come by. He frequently checked his cheap, knock-off Rolex watch. It felt like a long time had passed since he stood there, so when he finally saw a taxi, he literally jumped in front of it causing the taxi to stop abruptly.
"The fuck are you doing, young man?!" The driver said as he popped his head on the window. A clear, pissed look on the driver's face welcomed Adrian as he entered the taxi.
"Heh... Sorry about that. I'm in a hurry so please, just take me to the bus station" Adrian said politely to the driver, not willing to piss him off any further.
For the next ten minutes, Adrian remained silent. He looked at the pedestrians going about their daily lives, street vendors scrambling to accommodate their customers that are piling up, cars honking and public transportation vehicles loading and unloading people.
Sometimes, his mind wanders about how to answer questions that the interviewer might ask. He pretended in his mind that he is the interviewer and interviewee. He asked himself what an interviewer would ask him about, then he would try to answer it.
While still having his internal mock interview, the taxi stopped at the bus station. He paid the taxi driver one hundred fifty pesos and bid him farewell. It was still early in the morning and there were already tons of people lining up in front of their respective buses. This is good for Adrian because his bus will be filled up faster!
"Nice! This is good!" When he checked his watch again, he breathed a sigh of relief. "I still have one hour left!".
Adrian hurriedly hopped into one of the buses heading to Manila. As expected, the bus was already almost full! Just a couple more people and they were good to go. Adrian looked for an empty seat with great haste like it was a treasure. Luckily for him, there's still a couple more vacant seats at the back.
He sighed as he sat down and looked at his watch again just to make sure he didn't see it wrong, [7:33 AM], he took a deep breath and smiled with satisfaction.
"I can still make it there on time," He reassured himself.
After a few more minutes, the last passengers finally came. And so, the wheels of the bus started rolling. For some reason, Adrian's heartbeat started to rise. He didn't know what caused it, but maybe he's just a little bit nervous, so he didn't mind it anymore.
The bus ride went smoothly. He continued his internal mock interview to prepare himself for his life-changing job.
Just when everything is going according to his plans, there comes a little bit of trouble. Halfway through his destination, he got stuck in traffic!
"Wow! Lucky me!" He mumbled under his breath as to not attract any attention from his seatmate. He chuckled deprecatingly to himself while massaging his temple.
He looked at his watch again to only cause more anxiety to him, [8:16 AM], he is dangerously close to being late! "Please move, please move, please move!" He chanted for a bit hoping that it would work.
Like magic, the previous snake-like line of cars started moving again! Adrian was so surprised that he looked at his seatmate on his left side with a wide-open smile and glittering eyes. His seatmate looked at him with a confused expression on his face that seemed to ask: "What the hell are you looking at, creep?"
Adrian read the situation so he said sorry to the gentleman and minded his own business for the rest of the trip. Still smiling.
While on the bus, his mind now wandered to some thoughts that are unrelated to his current mission like Why do we exist? Are there aliens out there? How the hell did Glenn survive that dumpster scene? Even though it was already revealed, it still looked impossible to survive in that situation! And so on.
Finally, the bus reached its destination and Adrian hurried to get off of the bus, almost pushing everyone in front of him.
"Finally!"
Adrian took a deep breath before moving forward. He took large stride steps, almost running. After a few minutes of walking, he finally saw the building where he would soon be working! Hopefully.
It was an... Okay, building. Two-story, there are many benches outside the building where employees can hang out, the front of the building was a glass wall so Adrian can already see the employees walking here and there and the help desk which was located on the left side of the lobby.
Before he stepped foot inside the building, he checked his watch for the last time, [8:28 AM], he sighed a bit of relief and walked to the automatic door. As soon as the doors opened cold, clean air washed over his slightly sweaty face giving him a sense of relaxation.
As to not look like an idiot, he managed to suppress his wide smile into an unnoticeable grin as he walked towards the woman at the help desk. He placed his whole arm at the desk and leaned closer as if he was about to flirt with the woman. "Hello there... Betty"
The woman who was typing something on her keyboard looked at Adrian with a gentle smile. She wore a black corporate attire dress, on her left chest was a gold nameplate where her name was engraved, her short black hair bounced for a bit when her head moved. She adjusted her glasses and asked with a gentle tone "What can I do for you, sir?".
"I'm here for a job interview." Adrian smiled.
"Name?"
"Adrian Santos. Nice to meet you, heh. Ahem"
The woman smiled at him brightly, but her brown eyes that looked at him seemed to differ. She was clearly annoyed. It almost looked like she dealt with men like him on a daily basis. "Just a moment, sir".
After a few seconds of typing, the woman looked at him again with her sweet smile and said "Room 202, sir. It's on the second floor."
"Okay, thanks! Ahem."
Adrian rushed to the second floor. As he stepped into a lengthy corridor, he was met with a group of people either chatting with each other or minding their own business. Adrian guessed that these people are applicants just like himself.
"Hey...uhm, has the interview started yet?" With a friendly smile, Adrian asked a man in his late twenties who was playing with his phone.
The man was startled a bit, but he quickly regained his composure. "Yeah...no, no. I have been waiting here like thirty minutes now. I suggest you find your own seat because we might wait here for a very long time. Trust me, it's based on my experience. I have actually been hunting jobs here and there and you know what I learned? The interview always starts late! I mean..."
Adrian felt awkward the moment this man started ranting about his past experiences on job interviews. "Calm down, dude! jeez. I was just asking a simple question" Adrian mumbled under his breath as he moved away from the still ranting man.
He immediately found the farthest available seat from the man and quickly sprinted to claim the seat. He breathed a sigh of relief when he could no longer hear the man.
Adrian checked the time again this time on his phone, [8:33 AM], "I'm pretty sure that the interview will start any moment now." With that said, Adrian waited patiently. Then, five minutes have passed, ten minutes, fifteen minutes. "Son of a bitch! I hurried here for nothing! I didn't even eat just to get here early!"
Another ten minutes had passed before the interviewer started calling the applicant's name. Normally Adrian would have been happy with this development, but how can he possibly form any emotion resembling happiness when his stomach keeps demanding food? He can't really think straight right now. He wanted to go outside to buy food, but he might be called the moment he left the building! He can't let that happen, so he persevered and endured this minor inconvenience.
One by one, the applicants were called and were finished after ten or so minutes. By the time Adrian was called, it was already past ten! He already felt groggy, unable to think straight and most of all irritable. Adrian took very deep breaths to calm his mind. He mumbled "Concentrate, Ian. Concentrate."
Twelve minutes later, Adrian left the room with a sour face. Even though he made sure not to show his unsavory emotions to the interviewer, it still came out the way he answered the questions. "Damn! I really screwed up, didn't I?"
With a slouch, Adrian left the building to eat. Obviously, he can't go to a fancy restaurant, so he opted to go to the most familiar place he could think of.
Since he doesn't have the energy to walk around in search of his favorite fast-food chain, he just checked it on google maps and quickly found it. Turns out, it was just around the corner of the office building. With long, hurried steps, he reached his destination in a few minutes.
The smell of fried chicken lingered on his nose, people chatting heartily with their family and friends became his new background noise, overly hyperactive kids kept playing with their siblings at the playground were a sight for sore eyes to their parents.
After five minutes of standing in a long line of customers, Adrian finally ordered his favorite fried chicken and spaghetti meal. After searching for a few seconds, he found an empty seat by the glass window. He found it soothing when the sun shone on him and looked at the people and cars going left and right while he was eating. At least for a moment, his mind forgot how he fucked up his interview.
"AHHH!"
While Adrian was enjoying his chicken, a loud scream from the outside was heard. Not even the glass walls of the building can block the blood-curdling scream of a woman on the other side of the road!
Naturally, people with sharp ears heard the scream and looked at the source, full of curiosity. Of course, Adrian was one of them. The first thing Adrian saw was the people running for their lives, even pushing others who were blocking their way just to get the hell away from there. Other people stayed and instead of helping, they whipped out their fancy phones and started taking pictures and videos.
But Adrian and the others can't get a clear look at what was happening because it was being blocked by a car. All that they can see was a man lying on the ground who seemed to be in agony based on his facial expression and a woman that was holding the man's hands and was trying to pull the man away from something, but she clearly can't.
The woman kept screaming help but the people around her were clearly terrified and afraid at the sight unfolding in front of their eyes. The ones who were taking pictures and videos were as far away as possible, without compromising their phone's view of course.
"Damn, why don't they help that poor woman?"
"Look at those idiots taking videos instead of helping. Tsk tsk tsk."
"Mom, What's happening?"
"Someone please call the police!"
Concerned voices echoed around Adrian as he watched the scene with a frown. "Bunch of cowards!" Adrian muttered under his breath.
A few moments later, the owner of the car showed up. He looked in front of him with a terrified expression on his face and looked like he was avoiding something until he reached his car. He quickly drove off as fast as possible.
Then, the horrifying scene was finally revealed to the watchers from the street and inside the restaurant. It was almost indescribable, it looked like out of a SciFi horror movie. Pure dread and disgust crept up at everyone's body. Now they finally understood why the people around the victim can't and won't help. Just seeing the monster sent shivers down one's spine. Hell, even serial killers might get spooked at the sight!
The monster's slimy tentacles tightened around the man's legs, breaking and bending it at an unnatural angle. The man's agonizing scream echoed around everyone's ears. The woman who was crying the whole time finally lost her grip. The moment she let go of the man's arm, she fell on her butt.
The monster then proceeded to lift the man into the air by his legs. Then, the body of the monster that can only be described as a sewer water colored viscous liquid that didn't have a uniform body shape, it was pulsing and undulating. It was at least four feet in height and approximately three meters in length. The only visible appendage of the monster was its four tentacles and an organ freely floating on its viscous liquid body that Adrian assumed as its eyes. The monster's red eyes were as big as a golf ball.
Slowly, the monster lowered the still struggling man onto its disgusting body. The moment the man's head was submerged inside the monster's body, smoke suddenly rose up! It was akin to when an organic material was being dissolved in a very strong acid! The man kept screaming and screaming until his whole body was finally submerged, only then he stopped moving. A few seconds later, the man was floating inside the monster horizontally, being dissolved ever so slowly.
It all happened so fast, but the people fleeing from the scene were faster! Even the people around Adrian started packing up their things and left the building only to be pushed around by others who were also fleeing.
"Out of my way!"
"Hold my hands tightly, okay, honey?"
"Hurry! Hurry!"
"Don't push me, asshole!"
"What did you say?!"
The previous joyful atmosphere turned into terror. The calm and noisy chatters turned into yells and screams. The kids cried as they were dragged around by their parents towards the exit. Fighting broke out immediately, it's like they lost all their common sense!
Meanwhile, Adrian was still in a daze. Seeing the man getting slowly dissolved was etched in his mind. He felt kind of dizzy as he tried to move towards the exit. "Oh shit! Oh shit! Oh shit!"
Then, screams inside the bathroom, even louder than the yells around Adrian echoed. The door to the bathroom suddenly burst open when a woman suddenly jumped in her last effort to escape her certain death, but she got caught by a mud-colored tentacle, anyway. She cried out for a bit before she got 'swallowed'.
The customers saw all this further raising their panic to a whole new level! They stopped their fights and brawls and flooded the exit! Seeing that, Adrian knew that there was no way he could squeeze through that many people.
Looking around him, Adrian got an idea. He picked up his chair. He took a few steps back, after making sure that it would be safe for him, he threw the chair with all his strength instantly shattering the glass wall.
He did not waste any more time and just passed through the broken window. The first thing that came to his mind the moment he left the restaurant was to get home and rest. All that has happened took a huge toll on his mind.
He made his way back to the bus station, but while he was walking on the street, he noticed something that he only saw in movies. People with frightened expressions were running everywhere, cars crashed against each other or against walls, establishments and sometimes, people! It was complete chaos!
"Wha- What the hell is happening!" Adrian muttered. Soon enough, his question was answered. When he turned to the next street there were three monsters attacking people! He turned around and saw another monster coming out of a gutter on the side of the street. As soon as it emerged, it sprinted to the closest person in its vicinity. It moved like a snail, but fast. Really fast! It just swallowed the unlucky person whole!
Adrian also heard gunshots everywhere. Maybe it was the police or guards or someone that was carrying a gun illegally. He wanted to go where the gunshots were coming from, but he changed his mind. What if the shooter missed and hit him instead? What if the shooter was actually shooting people who were so distressed and didn't know what to do or where to go that they started entering private properties?
Adrian's heart started to beat faster and faster like it was about to jump out of his chest! He kept walking towards any street that didn't have any monster blocking it. He staggered on his feet as he saw another man getting swallowed by a monster.
Next thing he knew he was on his butt leaning against a wall. He gripped his chest, he couldn't breathe! He was having a panic attack, which he had never experienced before!
He closed his eyes and took a few deep breaths. "I can't stay like this! Calm down, Ian!" He stood up from the ground and tried to find someplace to hide in. After a few minutes of walking and avoiding monsters, he finally saw a building with solid walls and an intact door. He hurried and opened the door so abruptly that the people reading books inside were startled. There he saw rows of bookshelves filled to the brim with books and a couple of tables with people sitting in front of it.
Adrian quickly locked the wooden door which alarmed the librarian and the readers further. They clearly have no idea what was happening outside!
"Hey, young man. What do you think you're doing?" Asked a middle-aged woman with a frown, she has short black hair and wearing a neat white dress and black pencil skirt.
"We- we need to block the door! it's dangerous outside!"
"What are you talking about, young man?" The librarian asked again. She looked at the clearly distressed young man with a bit of worry now.
Adrian didn't answer the librarian and went straight to one of the vacant tables, flipped it over, and pushed it towards the door. Now the librarian and some others were terrified, but others were snickering and laughing at the sight! One of the readers was taking a video of the unknown man! While the librarian was holding her landline phone and was about to call the police.
"I'll call the police on you, young man. Stop whatever you're doing!"
Adrian scoffed. "HAHAHA! You don't even know what's happening outside, do you? Watch the news and you will know what nightmare is happening outside! It's chaos out there!"
One of the readers came up to Adrian and gripped his arm tightly. "That's enough, dude. You're scaring everyone here."
The man was wearing a uniform of a school. He was five feet nine inches tall, taller than Adrian. He was also buffed like a regular at a gym and had a deep prepubescent voice. Adrian tried to twist the man's hand but failed, so he just scoffed at the man.
"Get your hand off of me, 'dude'. Also, didn't you hear what I just said? It's a nightmare out there! Once we open this door, who knows who or what will come in here rushing!"
"Dude, if this is a prank just stop it. It's not even funny anymore. So stand the f--"
Before he could even finish what he was saying, a loud thud from the door echoed in the library followed by screams and yells. Then, one of the readers, a student too, spoke.
"Richard, I think he is not joking. Look at this." His voice was trembling and he already had a pale face. "It's... It's everywhere. Whatever this creature is, it's everywhere. There are also reports from other countries, the same as ours. Look at this video..."
Richard watched the video with a frown. In the video, there was a man getting pulled from both ends of his body. Blue colored tentacles on his head while mud-colored tentacles on his legs. The two monsters pulled with all their might causing the man to be ripped in half! The monsters then swallowed their share and moved on to their next victim. The video was from America.
Richard's friend almost vomited while watching the video. "Richard... What do we do?"
"We will not do shit! We stay here and wait for the military or whatever!" Adrian answered the man with a yell. "Speaking of shit, do you have a bathroom?"
The people around him looked confused, but the librarian still answered him with a nod. Adrian sighed in exasperation. "They came from the sewers, so I suspect that they can travel to any toilet connected to sewers. Is your bathroom connected to sewers?"
The librarian quickly nodded vigorously. "You, you, and Richard help me block the bathroom." Seeing that no one was moving, he yelled. "Do you all want to die? Move! Move!"
"But, these creatures are huge! they can't possibly fit on the tubes leading to the toilets!"
Richard's friend stated with certainty in his voice. Adrian scoffed at the man. "Watch the videos again. Tell me, what can you observe about these creatures?"
As Adrian, Richard and the other student were busy flipping and pushing the tables at the bathroom door, Richard's friend continued to watch the various video recordings with a slight hesitation, but he did it anyway. After a few minutes of watching and looking at pictures, he finally voiced his observations.
"These creatures... They don't have a natural form. It also looks like they don't even have any solid body part, except those two red balls floating around and their tentacles. Their body is about ninety-eight percent liquid, it's unbelievable!"
"Correct! I bet they are like a damn octopus, they can squeeze into any hole or gap that is larger than their fucking eyes! So we better shut this damn bathroom door."
The student fell into deep thought. "Makes sense." He already slumped on a nearby chair like he was so exhausted despite not doing anything. "So... What do we do now?"
"As I said earlier, we wait," Adrian said with audible annoyance.
After finishing blocking and securing any gaps they could find inside the library, Adrian and the others were finally able to sit down. Adrian checked the time again, [11:54 AM]. Adrian sighed as he slumped on a sofa. Just a few hours ago, his only problem was his empty stomach, now it was life or death!
Looking at the people currently with him, they all showed signs of shock, fear, anxiousness, and restlessness. Who wouldn't? With everything that is happening right now, they all need an abundant amount of time to return to normal.
Adrian noticed that all of them were students from the same school, except the librarian of course. There were three men and two women.
For the next few hours, no one spoke to each other. It's either they are busy contacting their family or friends, or they watch the news that isn't stopping any time soon. Social media were also great for information gathering as there were tons of videos and pictures related to what's currently happening all over the world.
Apparently, the people of the internet started to call the monsters 'slimes'. Not surprisingly, a lot of people agreed to call the monsters 'slimes'. Maybe it was because of the resemblance of these slime monsters to fictional slimes usually seen in anime and video games.
There were so many uploads on social media that it eventually crashed! Unfortunately, it looks like it isn't coming back anytime soon. Since there wasn't TV inside the library, they were forced to listen to the radio on their phone. Of course, radio stations were also talking about the slimes. At first, it was hard to find a working radio station but after a few minutes, they finally found one.
The students learned more and more about the slimes after listening to radio stations. First, the slimes are almost invulnerable. They can be blown up by grenades or high caliber bullets, but all it does is incapacitate the slimes for a few hours, then they will slowly reassemble themselves!
Second, These slimes are so corrosive, they can even melt armored tanks! Even the army of powerful nations was no match against these slimes!
Third, and maybe the most terrifying thing about these slimes were their reproduction rate. This is how these slimes were able to decimate entire cities in less than half a day. They reproduce so fast that a single, well-fed, slime can multiply itself a couple of times in a few hours! That's right, these slimes can reproduce asexually, meaning they don't have to mate to reproduce! It was proven by tons of videos showing the slimes splitting apart becoming two identical slimes. But, scientists are also looking at the possibility that they can also mate since some organisms that reproduce asexually can also mate.
The media even started calling this event as worldwide coordinated attacks by these slime monsters. They literally emerged in every part of the world at the same time, regardless of time zones. It was Ridiculous!
All of these overwhelmed the students. They all lost hope. If even the military can't kill these things and are being pushed back even, who's gonna save them? What about their families? Friends?
A few more hours later, someone finally snapped.
"I'm going out! I can't stay here any longer!" A woman, wearing her white school uniform and grey slacks, suddenly stood up and went straight to the door. It was clear that she was angry, anxious, and tired based on her tone.
Seeing the woman trying to remove the table blocking the door, Adrian rushed in front of her and leaned on the door. He looked at her with a stern face and asked in a cold deep voice "What do you think you're doing? Didn't you hear the news?"
"Shut up asshole, you don't know me. I can take care of myself!" She in turn looked at Adrian with fierce and determined eyes.
Adrian looked amused. He scoffed. "Look, I don't care who you are or if you can take care of yourself. None of us should go outside for the time being! I say we ride this situation out for a while. Who knows, the moment you open that door, some desperate person or those slimes might come here rushing and start killing us all! I don't want to risk it."
"But... I..." The woman looked defeated.
Adrian clicked his tongue. He checked his watch again, [5:33 PM], "Plus, it's getting dark outside. No matter whether it's a normal day or the Apocalypse, being outside during night is dangerous. Do you really want to risk it?"
"But surely we can't stay here forever, right? What if the military never comes? Or we run out of food?" Richard's friend asked with worry in his voice.
Richard sighed. "Carl is right. How long do you plan to stay here?"
"I don't know. But, I don't plan on staying here any longer than necessary. For the first few days maybe we can go shopping at any nearby grocery store for food. If the military didn't come for, let's say three days, then we'll go. Or you can also leave whenever you want, just not now." Adrian said in a calm, apologetic manner. After contemplating what Adrian said, the students and the librarian finally nodded in agreement.
For the next few hours, the only thing that they did was talk to each other, watch or listen to the news, and comfort each other.
For dinner, they can only eat their leftover lunch food. Without interacting with each other aside from their friends, their evening went without any unfortunate events.
When they were about to sleep, they assigned people to keep watch.
