It Benefits Us After All

Subaru and Mimilia hold the hands of this green-haired child who lost her mom.

Subaru: "Ah so you lost your mom huh? Don't worry, we'll find your mother soon."

Subaru holds her left hand and Mimilia holds her right hand.

They look like a young couple strolling around Lugnica with their child, which is kind of embarrassing, but yet, so sweet.

Rem's Thoughts: "It's cute when they hold that child together… It feels like their own daughter to be honest… Oh Rem, your fantasies are really running wild this time."

Rem blushes at her own embarrassment of her own fantasies.

Subaru notices Rem blushing and she sees him looking, which she immediately looks away in response.

Rem was too focused on this whole romantic situation, she forgot Subaru is still not fond of Rem.

Rem continues to play dumb, pretending that she has no clue where that petite girl could be.

Rem can just tell them straight, but if there's one thing that she learned.

It's to never reveal yourself until the end.

If you do, you'll get easily exposed.

So it's better for Rem to slowly guide them to the place, so she can't be considered as suspicious…

But that look. on Subaru's face…

His face... A face of one that doesn't trust someone, and for this situation, he doesn't trust Rem.

But Rem hopes to get on his good side, so she doesn't have to be a problem to him in the future.

The child gasps and she runs to somebody and it turns out to be her mother. 

Mimilia: "Huh, looks like we don't have to search further."

Subaru nods.

"Yes. We can finally continue our search."

After walking for a few minutes, Subaru looks at Rem.

"Remura. You're the one that saw her. Do you think you can remember what she's wearing and maybe we can guess where she lives?"

Rem looks to the side and thinks.

…

She looks at Subaru.

"I'm not really sure… I don't remember… I'm sorry I've been doing my job badly… I'm really trying my best…"

Rem looks down as Mimilia looks at her.

"Oh, don't worry about it, Remura. We'll find who it is eventually."

Rem nods.

"I hope so too…"

Subaru looks at Rem, and he really can't just take his eyes off her for one second! 

She's too suspicious now and he can't stand the thought of leaving her alone with Emilia.

So that's why he's been super close to Emilia at all times, making sure this innocent looking girl doesn't do anything… funny….

The three of them arrive at a slope bridge and they both decide to just take a rest, and Rem just sits down as well. Pulling out her phone and boots it up, so she can look at what time it is back at Earth.

Mimilia notices what Rem has on her hand and she decides to take a closer look at it, Subaru turns his eyes to Emilia looking at Rem.

Mimilia: "Remura?"

Rem: ! "A-ah, Yes?"

Mimilia: "What's that strange thing you're holding right now?"

Rem looks at her phone and back at her.

"Uhm… It's called a smartphone. My place uses these for communication without going to a person, and it's very fast too."

Mimilia tilts her head.

"Is that so… Then you wouldn't mind me sending a message to someone, do you?"

Rem looks around and at her.

"Ah uhm… D-do they have a phone?"

Mimilia: "Wait, so it can't send messages like magically?"

Rem is just confused, but she explains how it works.

"I can only message people who have a smartphone. I can't send a message to the ones that don't."

Mimilia: "Huh, that is… interesting…"

Rem just remembered something.

"O-Oh! Miss Mimilia. Can I ask you something?"

Subaru turns to her.

Mimilia plays with her hair before looking at her.

"I guess you can."

Rem looks at the time. 4PM. That was fast.  

Rem closes her phone as she puts it back inside her pocket and looks at Miss Mimilia. 

"Why did you two help the crying child? Does it add to any benefits to both of you?"

Mimilia crosses her arms.

"That's really simple. So we can rest at ease. So we can continue our search way easier without having to think about that little girl's safety."

Mimilia looks at Subaru.

"Though, why did you help me back there? I didn't expect to know you were the type to barge in into someone else's conversation without permission."

Subaru: "I-I was just trying to help out, you know?? I'm just worried as well, and I won't allow myself to ignore a crying defenseless child without asking what is wrong."

Rem looks at them and looks up at the sky.

Rem's Thoughts:

"Rem wonders how her cat is doing. 

Rem wonders if her friends noticed that she's gone. 

Rem hopes they can notice much earlier that she went missing. 

So she doesn't have to worry about her cat."

Mimilia: "Remura. How about you? Why did you stop to look at that child?"

Rem: "Eh?? Uhm… well. I can pretty much say the same thing Sir Subaru has said.

I feel bad for not checking a crying child who looks to be lost. I feel really bad when I just leave the opportunity to do so… It makes me stay up on nights sometimes…"

Both of them look at her.

Mimilia: "Your personality will put you at a disadvantage."

Rem just blushes looking away.

"I'm sorry… I'll take note of that…"

Mimilia looks at Rem and she can't doubt Rem being a bad person anymore.

"You don't look like a bad child."

Rem: "I'm, uhm. 20… I-I think I'm the same age as you Miss Mimilia."

"You guessed incorrectly…"

She says as she looks down.

"I'm half-elf…"

Subaru gasps a little bit about telling that information to someone that can be this suspicious!

Rem looks at her.

Mimilia closes her eyes and she holds her hands tight, and she's getting ready for what Rem is about to say.

Rem: "Oh. I see."

Rem stands up and looks at her and she smiles.

"No wonder why you're so beautiful, Miss Mimilia. Elves here must be as beautiful as you are."

Mimilia looks at her, pretty much surprised that she didn't freak out or something.

"Is something wrong?"

Rem asks.

Mimilia: "Are you asking me what's wrong?"

She points to herself 

"I just told you, I'm half-elf.

Rem nods.

"I heard you the first time."

Mimilia widens her eyes as she gets off the bridge arms and she stands up turning around Rem and she just dropped down, holding her head.

Subaru: "Eh?"

Rem: "A-are you okay?"

Puck comes out of Mimilia's hair and she rushes to Rem.

"HaaaaAAA!"

Puck punches Rem at the nose, but it was too fluffy and small, Rem didn't feel a thing.

Rem: "Uhm… Ouch? W-wait- Was that supposed to harm me?"

Puck shivers.

"Oh no no! That wasn't meant to harm you. I punched you because I'm so bored!

That was just me reducing my boredom!"

Rem looks at Puck and both of their noses touch.

"That is really hard to believe that you punched me so you can get less bored… but since that wasn't meant to harm me, I can forget about it."

Puck: "Oh I didn't punch you because I'm mad, I punched you because I'm happy!"

Rem's Thought's:

"I thought you were bored…?"

Mimilia turns to Rem groaning.

"You really are a dumbass, Remura."

Rem: "Uhm… that's a little bit mean… Why did you scold me all the sudden Miss Mimilia?"

Mimilia: "Hmpf! Nevermind!"

She stands up.

"Let's forget about this. Let's continue our search for The Insignia. Let's go, Subaru."

He nods as he follows Emilia.

Rem: "W-wait hold on!"

Both of them look at her.

"If we keep looking around aimlessly, we're never going to find it! I played some detective games, so let's first start looking for clues."

Said by Rem.

Subaru raised an eyebrow.

"Detective games?"

Rem nods.

"Yes. First, we need to know where your Insignia has been stolen."

 …

Rem: "I did not expect this, but if it was here, then we have no choice."

Rem rubs her chin.

"This was the place where I would come with both of you to help. Oh and."

She turns around and looks at the apple guy.

"H-Hello again! I-I'm sorry if I'm here again. I-I'm not begging for an apple this time, I swear!"

The apple guy looks at her.

"Oh, I thought it was a customer, but it turns out it was just you. The penniless girl."

Rem: "I-I'm sorry for last time but… do you perhaps notice anything different?"

Apple Guy looks around.

"What?"

Rem: "Please don't hold grudges against me anymore, because I have brought you two potential customers!"

 "Uhm, Remura."

Rem and the apple guy looked at Mimilia.

"I'm sorry to be the breaker of bad news but, I don't have any money with me."

She rubs her head, really in a weird spot.

Subaru looks at them.

"I don't have money as well, Rem."

Rem: "R-really?? U-Uhm…"

The apple guy looks at Rem.

"Ah so you're saying that I have three penniless customers lady?"

Rem looks at him.

"We're actually looking for someone right now… M-maybe you could help us with it by asking you a few questions, ehehh…"

Apple guy looks closely at Rem.

"Can't you see I'm mad??"

Rem covers herself in fear.

Apple Guy: "I have no time for paupers, so get lost!"

"Mister!"

They look at who said that and oh! It's the green haired girl, waving at us.

Subaru waves at her.

The mom looks at them.

"Thank you for your help just now."

Subaru: "I-It's no problem really. Wait. Why are you here?"

The mom points at the stall.

"This is my husband's stall, so we're just passing by."

The apple guy looks at Subaru.

Rem: "Husband?"

He then looks at Rem who covers herself again.

The green haired girl hugs his father, and he looks at her and pats her on the head as he looks at her wife.

"How do you know these three paupers?"

He points at them.

"Well, our daughter got lost and they helped me find her."

The apple guy looks at them and her daughter pulls out something from her pockets and she approaches Mimilia.

"Miss! Here!"

She gives Emilia something.

She looks at it, and it's a red flower that has a clip on it. Basically a clipper.

"Please accept it. She wants to use her way to thank both of you."

Said by the wife.

Emilia takes it.

"Thank you."

She looks at it and she looks at Rem. 

Who seems to be looking in her smartphone.

Emilia then puts it on her left hair.

Rem notices that as she blushes.

"M-Miss Mimilia??"

She looks at her.

"You can have it, Remura. You were the one that found her first so you deserve it, more than I do."

Rem looks at the girl and the girl smiles at Rem.

…

Rem smiles as well, hiding her red face a little.

The apple guy clears his throat and the three of them look at him.

"Sorry about earlier."

He grins.

"I want to pay you back for your help. So."

He looks at them.

"Ask what'd you like."

Finally! Something!

Mimilia looks at Rem.

"Looks like all that walking around was a benefit to us after all!"
