Chapter Twelve: The Past

Two days passed by quickly and after inspecting that everything was going well in the branch placed in City C of STAR LUSH Clair had to finally go home.

Being Tuesday night and having still an hour before heading to the airport Clair headed to the one and great bridge she jumped off five years ago.

She wore a puffy white coat and a cute hat with her gloves to protect her from the cold night. To add to the weather the snow had covered the streets of the city completely. It looked very beautiful and calm.

Clair looked down at the frozen lake beneath her and shivered imagining the feeling of being trapped in that cold water. The actual feeling she felt that day made her shake. She took a deep breath and approached the rail of the bridge. She placed her hands on it and moved away from the snow on top of it.

She locked her eyes down and stared at the frozen lake. She let all the images of that day flow through her mind freely. Her falling in a matter of seconds.

Even though the fall was super quick to her it felt like she was falling for eternity. And just when she managed to get used to being in the air she felt the cold water hitting her skin sending shivers down her spine. The cold pieces of ice stabbed her back making her gasp in shock. The cold freezing water entered her lungs keeping her from breathing. Her hands slowly turned purple. Her feet, freezing. Her whole body froze by the second. She felt like she was about to not only drown but freeze to death. She truly desires a greater depth in the future. Now she is truly afraid of going through that again.

She shivered again thinking of the cold water touching her skin. It was not just the physical pain but the mental breakdown she had.

The loud thumping of her heart. At that moment she had felt fear. She clearly remembers the debate she had on whether or not she should let herself live. The remorse in her heart. She could clearly remember it. She has to admit it, that day is truly her darkest or at least her second darkest if she counts the death of her family as the darkest. She still feels that bothering the feeling of being the last member of the Soles family. The ache in her heart for letting her family down by killing herself. For being such a coward. She should have continued fighting. Where did the pride of the Soles family go?

She felt so lonely that she had not thought about the people that care about her. She had completely discarded all the memories she made as Ainara Soles.

Sometimes when her parents and brother came into her mind she would feel this big emptiness within her. She smiled at the thought of her new family. If not for them who knows if she would still be standing strong today.

Clair sighed and wiped a tear away. She looked up to the dark sky and took a deep breath in. She felt the snow hit her face and she looked back down. She then turned around to leave. She took her time and started walking away. She turned back around and sighed then something caught her eye. She saw a tall man walk to the same spot where she had been before. Looking at his side profile she could guess the man is most likely handsome.

She shook her head and continued to walk away.

The man looked down at the frozen lake and sighed. The image of a young girl falling passed by his mind. He stood there for almost five minutes and then decided to leave since he had somewhere to be.

He started walking towards his car. When he was about to open his car he thought he heard a familiar voice.

"Clair the plane will take off in 30 minutes."Yaci said through the phone."Okay, I'll be there in ten minutes." Clair hung up and placed her phone back in her pocket. She put her gloves back on and started to walk at a faster speed.

The strong breeze hit her face and let her silver hair that stuck out of her hat flow in the air. She had taken a shower earlier today so her hair had gone back to normal. She sighed and covered her hair with her hat properly.

The man frowned thinking it was an illusion. He narrowed his eyes and walked towards her direction. Unfortunately, Clair's car was parked not far from there and she had quickly entered it so he missed her.

Not wanting to let go of the slight possibility he headed back to his car and he made a call."I give you five minutes to send me the CCTV footage of Luken Bridge to my phone from the last 30 minutes."

It only took the other person on the phone, 3 minutes to send the footage to the man.

The man looked at the video and observed Clair's figure. When Clair turned around to leave he paused it and compared it to someone else in his mind. "It's blurry...great" He muttered.

Meanwhile, Clair arrived at the airport and got inside her plane.

The first thing she did was go to the bathroom and apply the product she had created for her hair color. She finished applying it and waited until her hair returned to all red again.

Once she was in her seat she decided to do some work to distract herself from everything else. Seeing she could not concentrate she let out a sigh.

She looked out the round small window of the plane and looked out to see darkness. She felt that the plane ride would be very long. It would take her a lot of effort to fall asleep without thinking about the past.
