Chapter Seventeen: Distant cousin

Clair spotted an older woman with a warm smile coming to greet her. Clair said hello politely. In the end, Elliot successfully convinced her and he had brought her to his home.

The woman was sitting in the dinner table but she had come forward to greet her. Clair was embarrassed because of how she looked so she had called someone from her house but they still had not arrived so she had to go in like that.

"I told you that she won't mind." Elliot remained her. "Nice to meet you Mrs.Lee my name is Clair." She introduced herself to his mother and father. "Son, why didn't you tell me that you had such a beautiful friend?" Mrs.Lee asked and Clair smiled at her compliment.

After their polite interactions, Clair found herself loving Elliot's mom and she seemed like a lot of fun. They walked to the dinner table and a young girl with blonde hair came forward. "Oh, right this is Emma. She's a distant family member and she came to visit us." Mrs.Lee introduced her.

Clair smiled expecting the same friendliness from Emma. To her surprise, Emma came forward with an arrogant smile She shook Clair's hand and squeezed her tightly. "Emma, who are you?" She asked with a fake smile.

Clair lifted her eyebrows in surprise. "I'm just one of Elliot's patients. Clair, nice to meet you." Clair introduced herself and didn't let her disgust be shown in her face. She was not in her home or as in her 'territory' so she didn't want to expose the little two-faced b*tch in front of her.

"Oh, Elliot I didn't know you invited all your patients to dinner. How sweet of you!" She said and sent Clair a mocking look.

"Emma, please be respectful," Elliot warned her. Emma smiled. "Excuse me." She said arrogantly and walked back to her seat.

They all sat down in the table and Clair decided to sit across from Elliot because she understood why Emme treated her with hostility.

They started eating and Mrs.Lee hit off with Clair. They started joking a lot and they became friends easily. Elliot leaned back in his chair surprised about how easily his mother became friends with Clair. He sighed thinking about how she tried to kill him the first day they met.

Emma tried striking conversations with him multiple times but he ignored her directly which made her heart sting in pain. She gritted her teeth in jealousy and sent Clair daggers. Clair's lips twitched when she felt all the glares coming from Emma.

'Can she stop? Omg is not like I'm talking with him. I'm talking with his mother. Jeez, how annoying.' Clair thought.

Emma looked at her up and down. She laughed softly seeing how Clair was dressed. She reached out to grab a drink and she 'accidentally

Spilled it.

Clair who was not paying attention and was laughing with Mrs.Lee was caught off guard. She immediately got up from her chair and hissed at the hot substance burning her skin. She sent Emma a glare and the air around her turned cold.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean too." Emma started apologizing repeatedly and even started sobbing. Mrs.Lee gave Clair some paper towels and helped her clean up.

Elliot shivered when he felt Clair's temperature drop rapidly. He knew he needed to do something. Before he could do something someone rang the doorbell and his mother sent him to open it.

"I'm sorry it was an accident." Emma apologized over and over again making Clair annoyed. Her patience was running low. "I'm sorry I-" Just when her last bit of patience ran out and she was ready to lash out at Emma she heard her butler's voice.

"Young Miss Yves, I have brought the things you asked for." The old man bowed and a few guards entered the house behind him. Clair sighed and walked towards him. She took the bag from his hand and thanked him.

Emma froze in her place. 'Yves….that sounded familiar.'

Wait a second isn't she….

"Could you be Miss Yves. Artiste entertainment is one of your companies?" Emma asked nervously. "Yes, I am. I think you are one of my actresses that will be in my new movie 'The gap between us.' right?" Clair asked with a fake smile.

Emma nodded her head awkwardly and all her arrogance before was gone. She started thinking about how she will probably face hell soon since she just offended the big boss of the company she works under.

Elliot led Clair towards the bathroom and he sighed. He waited for her to change and when she came out he gave her an apology. " I won't be affected if you kick her out of the movie." He told her and Clair chuckled. "I'm not that petty. She did what she did because of you anyway. I think she misunderstood our relationship." Clair told him and he pursed his lips.

"Either way she shouldn't have done that." He apologized again. "I should leave," Clair told him. "No, you should finish your dinner first. I'll get you some ointment for the burns." He said. "Don't worry about the water wasn't that hot anyway. I can barely call it a burn." She replied and walked back to the dining room.

"You okay dear?" Mrs.Lee asked and Clair nodded. She was happy when Mrs.Lee wasn't affected by her identity. Clair told her butler to go back to the mansion after she changed into a beautiful white sundress.

They ended up finishing their dinner peacefully. Emma was quiet throughout the whole dinner and they treated her as air. It wasn't like she was invited anyway. She appeared very suddenly at their home and nobody expected or liked her arrival.

After dinner, Elliot offered to walk her home. Looking at Emma's hurt and bitter expression Clair declined his offer. She decided to take pity on the girl. "Thank you for dinner." She said her goodbyes and walked home alone.

As she walked home she went through her phone and would chuckle at a few memes she found.

When she arrived home she took a shower and decided to do some more work paperwork.
