"So, did you guys talk it out?" Mr.Davis asked as he entered the living room before Clair could exit the house and leave.
Mr.Yves looked in Clair's direction and sighed ready to hear her answer. "We agreed," James told them with his hand on his pockets. They all looked towards Clair for confirmation and she gritted her teeth. "We agreed but there are still a few things we need to talk about." She answered.
"That's good. That's good let's sit down for a drink to celebrate the news." Mr.Yves told them and Clair shook her head. "No thank you. I'll take my leave." Clair informed them without waiting for them to agree. Mr.Yves sighed and let her do as she wanted.
'At least she agreed right?'
Mr.Davis gave her a nod. "We will stay and talk with your father for a while longer then. My son will take you home. Please don't refuse it's the least he can do for what happened earlier." Mr.Davis told her to put all the blame on his son even though she was the one who tried to kill his son.
'He's really serious….' Clair could guess he was trying to gain her favor. And he was doing a great job. She would love to have an ally against James.
On the other hand, James didn't give any reaction and only took out his keys. "Let's go." He told her and Clair didn't refuse.
After bidding everyone goodbye they exited the mansion. "Where are you going?" James asked when he saw Clair walking in the direction of a red sports car. "I don't need a ride. I'm good." She waved her hand in the air with her back facing him.
"Get in the car. We aren't done talking." He called out and she sighed. She reluctantly walked back to his car and opened the door for herself. "I have a property near your house we will talk there." He said and turned on the car.
"Oh look he knows where I live." She mumbled sarcastically and laid her head on her elbow against the car window.
He glanced at her and back at the road. "It was included in your portfolio." He replied. "You investigated me to. That's great what did you find?" She asked attentively.
He rolled his eyes and sped up the car. "Stop overreacting it's not like I found anything my father has your information locked. Besides, I did it last minute and didn't have time. I didn't even know it would be you of all people." When Clair heard that her thoughts went elsewhere.
No wonder he chose her for his son. He knows who's blood is running through her veins. Her father probably doesn't know that Mr.Davis has her information. He knew she's a Soles and chose her for that reason.
Although she wasn't aware of how much Mr.Davis knows she could understand one thing.
He knows too much and in her dictionary that's a kill. She can't do that now but still. She must make sure that Mr.Davis doesn't use the information in his hand wrongly or else….
Well, let's just say that she has his son in her hands.
After that conversation, the car ride was dead silent both of them were in their thoughts.
…..
"Coffee?" He asked and she arched an eyebrow. "Sure." She replied and watched him serve her. She looked around the empty home. Except for the place they were sitting in everything was dark. He didn't bother to turn on the lights probably knowing that the conversation will not last long.
"For a long time, I was focused on becoming a businessman." He started and sat down in front of her. "My grandfather didn't agree because he thought I should focus more on training to become a king in the future
We agreed that I would stay in the military for seven years and work my way up. While doing that I would also receive training to become the future king. It so happened that you showed up after 3 years had been completed and you added to my work.
Anyways only after those 7 years were completed I was allowed to come back and do what I wanted.
Things have changed now because my father has retired way sooner then what anyone expected. Although I will still be in charge of the company after our marriage we will both have to start our duties just like any other king and queen." He told her a summary and looked at her as if telling her to say her part.
Clair cleared her throat not knowing where to start. "That night Ummm Mr.Yves found me and saved me. I woke up from my coma three months later and he gave me a new identity. I took upon myself to become his heir as a thank you gift. That's all." She answered and took a sip of her coffee.
He looked at her asking if she was serious. He had given her a more in-depth summary but she had not even tried. Great. How is he supposed to know how to get along with her if she won't even tell me anything.
He sighed and massaged his temple. 'I don't have the patience.' He thought. If they were in a different time he would surely make her spit out the truth.
"After our marriage, we will be going on our honeymoon for a month. Let me speak before you decline." He warned her knowing she would straight up reject the honey mood part.
"Since we won't allow them to interrupt our marriage they will try again during our honeymoon phase. They will try to attack while we are away but we will make use of this to trap them. We will have a meeting discussing these details with you and the royal court.
Although we will be away we will still be looking out for any action they take." He concluded and waited to hear her thoughts. "One question when will this take place." She asked.
"As soon a possible but most preferably 3 months from now. The preparations should start this month and if it all goes smoothly we might get married in two months instead. Our engagement announcement should be this month as well." He explained and she sighed.
"Don't you think it's too fast?" She asked and took a sip of her coffee. He waited for her to swallow the liquid before speaking but when he saw she was going to take another sip he stood up and took the cup from her hands.
"That's because we need to produce an heir in no more than a year." He told her. Clair started coughing violently, choking on her saliva.
'Dad never mentioned this....'
