Chapter 19: Our Family

Bree's POV:

Damnit, of course as soon as things would calm down slightly, we'd have to talk about this. "You mean besides telling Mr. Davenport he should let you both join our team and come back to Centium City with us?", I ask. Leo rolls his eyes, but I can tell he's trying to fight back a smile. I may be slightly stalling, but we have to talk about this too. If this is even gonna have a chance of working, everyone needs to be on board. Mr. Davenport will never give in if Leo, one of the cockiest and most self assured person in the room, doesn't look too sure there. "We've been over this.", Leo groans. Chase is about to say something before Adam slowly starts raising his hand. "WHAT Adam?", Leo asks him. He lets his hand flop back down. "I wanna go to Centium City.", Adam pouts. I giggle. Kaz, Oliver, and him would get along great. I can already tell. Leo rubs his hand through his hair and looks really frustrated. "Look, Leo, if you don't want to come to Centium City with us that's perfectly fine. You only need to say so and we won't push you on it any further, but if Adam wants to go, he should be allowed to.", Chase says hoping to level with Leo a bit. Why wouldn't Leo wanna come with us though? He doesn't exactly sound super happy with how things are right now. Leo's always wanted to be involved in missions, be a part of the team. He was bummed for a HOT minute when he realized he couldn't help as much as he wanted to because he wasn't bionic. Now he finally is and going on missions, saving the world, is something he loves to do and is really proud of. There's no way he all of a sudden prefers being everyone's babysitter.

Chase's POV:

"Oh don't think I wouldn't normally jump at the chance to get out of here and be an ACTUAL bionic hero again.", Leo laughs out. You sure do have quite the odd way of showing it. "Then why such hesitance whenever the idea is brought up? If you're concerned about Mr. Davenport's feelings, you know he'll get over it right?", I question. Leo's facial expression immediately turns sour. "Because this is a losing fight! Anytime I bring up wanting to be more involved in missions or going anywhere that isn't Mission Creek, to see my mother more specifically, Big D just won't listen. He claims that the new gen can't be left on their own here, and that they need some supervision from some more experienced bionic heroes, since him and Douglas can't be here 24/7.", Leo rants as his frustration on the matter clearly seeps through. Adam jumps in to show his agreement. "Yeah, and Mr. Davenport even yelled at me this one time when I wanted to leave the bionic island completely unsupervised to go see the Super Smash Mega Monster Truck Show that was in town.", Adam pouts. Wow, I wish our brothers would've expressed their unhappiness sooner, and we could've had this issue resolved ages ago. "Well to be fair Adam, you did ask to leave the Bionic Island that's full of hormonal bionic teenagers, and not to mention very dangerous weapons, completely unsupervised to go see a monster truck show that you could've just streamed from your phone.", I do feel the need to point out.

Bree's POV:

I roll my eyes at Chase's 'critical thinking'. That's not the point here Chasey, the point's that Leo and Adam are practically prisoners here. Hell they had more freedom when we were still in high school, and we had to sneak around back then. We're all grown up now, and if Adam wants to go see some dumb monster truck thing, he should be able to without even having to ask for permission. "Okay pleasssse don't say anything like that at the meeting tonight.", I sigh. Leo lets out a snort. "Yeah if we're gonna do this thing, we have to go all in and not give Big D any more reasons to keep us under house arrest.", he agrees. So does that mean- "So you're on board then?", Chase asks as if he's read my mind. Leo gives us a half smile before nodding. "Yeah, fuck it. The worst thing he can do is say no again." , Leo shrugs off. I let out a cute and lady like squeal as Chase claps Leo on the shoulder. Okay great so now we're dropping 3 bombs on the fam tonight. What could go wrong with doing this all at once right? "Yeah and Leo's more than used to being rejected over and over again anyway.", Adam jokes. Leo looks so offended while Chase and I tried really hard not to laugh. "NO I'M NOT, and anyway, I think we got off topic here.", Leo brushes off. Wow, he handled that joke better than I thought he would. "Off topic of what?", Adam asks. I glance over at Chase, he nods. Right, we're still doing this. "Why don't you sit back down and we can talk about it.", Chase softly says as he guides Adam back to the couch.

Chase's POV:

We'll be fine, this'll go fine. Adam knows and has processed the fact that we're not biologically related, so all we have to do is add the final bit of missing information to the story. No big deal right? Adam lets himself fall back onto the sofa as Leo moves to stand supportively next to us. "I think we should just keep this short and sweet, you know just rip the band aid off.", Bree suggests. That would probably be best thing for everyone's nerves at this point. "Oh thank God I won't have to stand here for 10 minutes while you both play hot potato the news.", Leo comments. I'm ready to argue that Bree and I didn't take that long to deliver the news to Leo, but a quick look at the internal time stamps on that conversation would prove him to be correct. "Hey! It wasn't THAT long and drawn out.", Bree defends as she crosses her arms. I have to restrain myself from commenting on how adorable she looks when she's pouting like this. "Well actually-", I start to point out before a look from Bree shoots me down. Judging by Leo's smug expression, he knows what I was about to say. "I'm confused, are we playing hot potato or spilling secrets?", Adam voices from his place on the couch. We turn back to him, and Bree grabs my hand. Leo rolls his eyes at him, but Adam surprisingly focuses on what Bree just did. I just have to bite the bullet and come out with it. We're being counterproductive at this point. "Bree and I are dating.", I boldly state. Adam's eyebrows immediately shoot up in a look of pure surprise, Bree braces herself next to me, preparing for the worst.

Bree's POV:

I don't think I've EVER seen Adam look this shook before, and that's saying a lot. This is the person who still has his mind blown every time he goes through a revolving door. "Eww, that's weird. I mean at least you won't both die alone now though so, congrats?", Adam says with a shrug. I'm relieved yet offended at the same time. "What makes you think we were gonna die alone?", I ask. I know I should be focusing on the fact that Adam doesn't look disgusted or even bothered really, but what the hell was with that comment? I know I was going through a bit of a dry spell last time Adam saw me, and I can't remember the last time Chase even LOOKED at a girl before we moved to Centium City, but DIE ALONE? I'm gonna be like 80 or something before I kick the bucket, there's no way I'm THAT unlikable and/or unattractive that I wouldn't have be able to ever find a guy. "Chase has no game when it comes to the ladies and guys don't like you.", Adam bluntly replies. Okay, ow. "Hey! I clearly have SOME game otherwise I'd still be single, also I'm a guy and I like Bree.", Chase butts in. Aww, Chasey's defending me and my ability to attract cute guys. I hope he's not hurt at all by what Adam said tho. This has been a touchy subject for us. "Bree doesn't count as a lady, she's Bree. Just like how you don't count as-", Adam starts before Leo jumps in front of him. Excuse me? I'm gonna need him to back that up and repeat what he just said. Last time I checked I identify as a woman, therefore making me a lady. Plus I'm pretty and feminine, I embody the essence of a lady I'll have you know.

Chase's POV:

"I think what Adam's TRYING TO SAY, is that it's hard for him-us to see either of you as anything other than Bree and Chase, our siblings. We know that Bree's a lady and Chase's a guy, that's just common knowledge.", Leo soothes. I let out a snort as I roll my eyes. He sounds as if he's Adam's PR manager, desperately attempting to do damage control to save the situation. "Wow, great save there Leo.", Bree drawls. I slip my arm around Bree's waist to draw her in for a side hug. "Adam's just being Adam, I don't think he was intentionally trying to be scathing.", I comfort. "What's scathing-", Adam starts to question before Leo cuts him off. "Don't worry about it, it's one of those words you'll probably only ever hear from Chase. So, now everyone here knows the truth, and that didn't change anything. We're all still a family right, the world didn't come to an end after letting us in on the secret?", Leo jokes. I'm not sure if he's attempting to prevent a fight, steer the conversation back towards the proper topic, or just genuinely asking how we currently feel using a lighthearted approach. "1st off-", I start. "Oh here we go.", Leo mutters. There isn't any bite to his words and amusement is plastered all over his face, so I continue. "There are plenty of people who don't have a 6th grade vocabulary, and know how to use the word scathing in a sentence. 2nd, of course, there's no secret that could possibly make us lose the love we have for you both.", I finish. Bree nods in agreement, for the 2nd part of my statement at least that is. Leo smiles at us while Adam looks slightly embarrassed.

Bree's POV:

"You don't have to get all mushy about it.", Adam groans. Pftt, please, he can act like a tough guy jock all he wants, but we all know he's a fucking softie. Especially when it comes to the people he cares about. "I think another group hug is in order, just don't try and crack my ribs this time.", Leo jokes before throwing his arms open. Chase and I can't help but laugh as we move to hug him. Adam rolls his eyes but joins us with a smile all the same. I have no idea how I ever got this lucky in the family department, but man am I glad. I know there's a lot of people who don't get to have this. I hold on to my brothers, and boyfriend, just a little bit tighter. Just not tight enough to make Leo complain lol. As funny as that would be, I don't wanna ruin this moment. These are the kind of moments I'm sure we'll look back on in like 5 years while feeling hella nostalgic. We pull apart after a minute, and then I remember that I haven't told Leo or Adam about my superpowers yet, fuck. I could technically wait until the meeting, but I don't want them to feel like I was hiding this, especially since they've been so supportive. "Actually, there may be 1 more small thing I almost forgot to mention.", I nervously laugh out. Chase quirks a brow at me, and I have to hold myself back from making a Marcus comment. Ugh, why has our lost brother been on my mind so much lately? I mean I've only thought about him like twice now, but that's 2 times too many. Maybe my brain feels guilty for how the way things went down or something?

Chase's POV:

If my memory serves me correctly, and it always does, there aren't any more secrets that have yet to be revealed, not to our brothers at least. "Seriously, there's more?", Leo complains. I must admit I share the same sentiment. This is a lot of information to absorb, especially since Leo and Adam are of average and below average intelligence. I on the other hand as a person of highly above average intelligence, would've lost my composure for a moment as any sane person would, then immediately come to terms with the new information that's been provided to me. "Yeah, how many secrets do you guy even have? What's next you're getting married or something?", Adam mocks. I sharply inhale. Not out of offense or fear of commitment, but from how shocking it is that the thought of marrying Bree sometime in the near future doesn't bother me. We may have just recently gotten together, but we know each other better than most married couples do. We've lived together all our lives, marriage wouldn't actually change much if anything at all. Bree would be a Mrs. instead of a Ms. and we'd have wedding rings, but that's it, we might as well be married at this point. "No, and this is the last secret I swear. I'll just get this over with now, to make a long story short, I have super powers. I'll have to tell everyone how that happened at the meeting tonight so you guys can find out then too, it's not that interesting anyway.", Bree reveals. With everything that's occurred as of late, Bree's newly acquired abilities have gone overlooked, forgotten even. I clearly forgot that no one's mentioned this to our brothers yet, until now.

Bree's POV:

Leo's jaw practically hits the ground while Adam looks like his brain's buffering. I expected that much, but I didn't think Chase would look like he's caught off guard too. "Why're you surprised, you were there with the rest of the team?", I ask Chase. Leo whips around to look at Chase like it's even more surprising that he knew. "In all honesty I had forgotten all about your super powers since things have been, for a lack of a better word, hectic.", Chase explains. Hectic sounds like the perfect word to me. The past week's been a complete shit show filled with drama, secrets, and romance. It's basically been a soap opera minus the cameras. "Excuse me but, WHEN THE FUCK DID BREE GET SUPER POWERS? WHY ARE WE JUST NOW FINDING OUT ABOUT THIS, AND WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON IN THAT APARTMENT THAT MADE SOMETHING AS HUGE AS THIS SLIP YOUR MINDS?", Leo rants as he waves his hands around everywhere. He makes it sounds like I was supposed to shoot them a text after it happened like, btw I have super powers now lol. It feels like the type of thing that should be said in person right? That's a rule somewhere or something, breakups and important news should NEVER be done over text, everyone knows that. "There's been a lot of fighting and relationship problems at the apartment as of late if we're being transparent here, and before you ask, I'm not exposing other people's private affairs to satisfy your curiosity. You can ask the rest of the team about it after Adam and you have been moved into the apartment.", Chase answers.

Chase's POV:

I see Leo's eyes light up at the mention of 'fighting and relationship problems' so I have to make it clear that I won't be revealing someone else's issues for the sake of, 'spilling the tea', as Bree would call it. He opens his mouth as his hand is raised, ready to object, but a pointed look from me has him lowering his hand. "You still didn't answer the other 2 questions.", Leo says after a moment. Well, at least his isn't pushing the issue and dropped it. "We'll answer those questions at the meeting tonight. You know the meeting you both agreed to go to that you're really not getting out of.", Bree responds. Adam lets out a dissatisfied groan as he throws his head back. Leo of course looks jittery and impatient, so nothing new there. "Oh come on just answer the questions!", Leo pleads. Bree rolls her eyes, and I can tell she's fighting back an amused smirk. This is classic Leo right here, he'd have the patience to conduct a several hour stake out, but can't wait a few hours to learn when and how Bree got an upgrade. Adam raises his hand. "I have a question too. How come Bree gets super powers and we don't?", Adam pouts. I cannot tell if he's trying to ask a genuine question or if this is a form of complaint. "Believe me, getting them wasn't as fun as you'd think. I mean if Skylar wouldn't have been there I probably would've- you know what, you don't even need super powers anyway Adam. You're already a bionic hero with loads of super cool special abilities that most super heroes could only dream of having.", Bree says in a way that she most likely hopes will lift his spirit.

Bree's POV:

Adam lights up after that and starts nodding. "You're right Bree, I almost forgot how awesome and jacked I am.", he agrees. Oml what have I done. Is it too late to take that back? "Jacked might be a bit of a stretch.", Leo butts in. Oh boy, here we go. I swear if these 2 starting rolling their sleeves up, fully preparing to arm wrestle or something, I'm leaving the room. I love my brothers and it's been a while, but there's only so much macho touch guy shit a girl can take. "Compared to your noodle arms it isn't.", Adam replies. I don't think I've ever seen Leo look as offended as he does right now. Actually that's a lie, he always looks this offended. "NOODLE ARMS?!", he shouts. I lock eyes with Chase and he leans over to whisper, "We should either leave the room now before it gets any worse, or forcefully change the subject.". If we leave them now Leo'll probably end up being flipped to the ground after losing at arm wrestling, and everyone knows how grumpy Leo gets when he loses at arm wrestling. "Who wants to play video games?!", I chirp as I clap my hands together. The boys look away from each other. "I know I do!", Chase in a way that he probably thinks sounds convincing. Leo rolls his eyes at us like he knows we were trying distract them from their tough guy stand off. "Yeah okay, I'm down.", Leo agrees anyway. Adam lunges for the controllers that were on the table so I guess he's down too, and of course Leo tries to fight him for the controller he wants. "Weren't those both made to function the exact same?", Chase points out.

Chase's POV:

Doing a quick scan over both controller devices, they're exact duplicates of each other, nothing altered or upgraded about them. Fighting over one or the other seems rather pointless to me. "Yeah but this 1's my favorite!", Leo groans out as he attempts to retch the thing from Adam's clutches. I swear, our brothers would fight over the same molecule of air if they could. "To bad you won't get to use it!", Adam laughs as he holds the device over Leo's head. Pulling it back each time Leo leaps to grab it. After a moment Leo quickly becomes tired of it and leaps onto Adam's back instead, hoping to have a much better chance of reaching the controller. "Seriously guys? Just rock paper scissors for it or something.", Bree complains. That actually wouldn't be too bad of an idea. It'd stop them from failing around the room at the very least. "That just takes all the fun out of it!", Adam grunts as he tries to keep a firm grip on the controller while Leo's yanking on it. I roll my eyes at Adam's logic. Thinking about it of course it'd make sense why they've resorted to throwing verbal jabs at each other along with horsing around. I mean what else is there to do around here really anyway? Watching videos online and playing video games must get old after a while. As humans we crave different experiences and activities, we need variety or else life starts to feel stale. When things aren't interesting, make them interesting. "Just let them go and have their fun, this is clearly all in jest.", I tell Bree.

Bree's POV:

"Is this where you then say something dumb and cliché like 'boys will be boys'?", I joke. Chase smirks at me, and I have to playfully shove him before I end up blushing. Jesus Christ he looks so hot when he smirks like that. We hear what sounds like a war cry of victory, so we look back over to see what those lovable idiots are doing. Adam's flat on the couch like he was just knocked over, and Leo's waving that dumb controller in the air like it's a flag. "Congratulations Leo, you won that 1. Now are we gonna play video games, or are you 2 gonna fight over the game too?", I complain. Leo snorts before tossing the other controller at Adam while he's in the middle of sitting back up. He catches it naturally since he's athletic af. "I let him win, just wanna put that out there.", Adam tells us. Oh God don't you start. I glare at him until Chase lightly elbows me. I know I know, leave them be or whatever. "You did not! Face it, you were out gunned.", Leo boasts. Before Adam can call Leo a stick or something Uncle Douggie pops in. "Hey, sorry to interrupt whatever's happening here, but can I borrow Chase for a few minutes? I need his input on something.", he asks as he glances around the room. "How come you only need Chase's, whatever you just said? I'm smart too.", Adam pouts before crossing his arms. I wonder if that's something Adam's insecure about, not being as smart as Chase or me. Leo pats him on the back as Uncle Douggie quirks a brow at him. Is everyone doing the Marcus eyebrow lift today?

Chase's POV:

"Well you're more than welcome to voice your thoughts on the scientific-", Douglas starts before Adam hastily cuts him off. "Actually never mind I don't do sciency stuff. Unless it has something to do with things blowing up, then I'm in.", Adam says. Douglas refrain's from making any snarky comments, choosing to smile fondly at his eldest instead. It's brief moments like these that remind me how far we've come as a family. I'm truly glad to have Douglas in our lives, and it's been really touching to see his attitude towards us shift overtime from cool 'uncle', to kind father. "Not this time, but I'll make sure to come get you when the materials for the new explosives I've been working on come in.", Douglas laughs out. Adam smiles and enthusiastically nods in agreement. Leo loudly clears his throat. "And I'll come get you later so we can finish those bionic upgrades.", Douglas adds on while doing that cringy finger gun gesture the 'cool' adults tend to do. Leo mirrors the gesture, causing Bree to roll her eyes as I facepalm. As soon as they're done with that the attention is turned towards me once again. I look over at Bree, to ensure that she's fine with me leaving her to her own devices. "I'll be fine, go.", she says while playfully shoving me in the direction of the door. "Wow, it didn't take long for Bree to have you whipped, huh Chase.", Leo jests as I'm walking out with Douglas. I roll my eyes, but do nothing to deny it. Truth be told, I had a hard time saying no to Bree even before we'd made things official. That was more of a recent development, that I could quite pinpoint the reasoning behind. Until now that is, for the obvious reasons.

Bree's POV:

Great, so I've got some time to kill and Chase is off inventing or whatever with Uncle Douggie. I should've asked to tag along so I could at least watch from the side or something. Sure all the complicated terms and is hella boring, but at least I'd get to watch Chase work. That's something I'll never get tired of. I'd be down to play video games with these 2 if they could stop fighting every 5 seconds. Guess I don't really have much of a choice tho unless I feel like scrolling through insta for the next 5 or so hours. "So are we gaming now or what?" I ask them. They look at each other and nod before dropping back onto the couch. "Do you wanna get in on this or just watch us play?", Leo asks back. I mean, I'm here so I might as well right? I'll probably suck at whatever game they pick, but I'm sure we'll get a good laugh out of it. "Pfttt like Bree'd be any good. Just sit back and let the experts do their thing little lady.", Adam says while loading some game up. What's THAT supposed to mean? I know damn well I wouldn't be any good, but why should that mean I can't just have fun anyway? That 'little lady' comment is rubbing me the wrong way too. "Is this because you think I suck at video games or because I'm a girl?", I fire back. Leo claps a hand over Adam's mouth before he can make things worse for himself, wise decision. "He didn't mean anything by it, that's just Adam being Adam. RIGHT Adam?", Leo laughs off while shooting Adam a very pointed look. I guess he takes the hint cause he nods in agreement.

Chase's POV:

Douglas and I make our exit, and head towards what I'm assuming is his work station. "So what is it that you needed my intelligence and adept understanding of the scientific process for?", I probe as we turn into a hallway. He wearily glances behind us before turning his attention towards the end of the hall. There's no one in this corridor at the moment, but his expression gives away his fear of being over heard. "I'll explain everything once we've reached my desk.", is all he offers as an explanation. I let out a hum of acknowledgement, nothing more than that. This must be something top secret, perhaps something Mr. Davenport doesn't even know about. That would explain the fear of being over heard, not wanting the information to find it's way towards his brother. Douglas obviously isn't up to anything unbecoming, or evil, to put it in simpler terms. He's moved past that long ago. He still creates inventions much like myself, but his inventions have always been a subject for debate. Whether or not each new object he conjures up is more harmful than helpful. I suppose it all depends on the person wielding the invention, such is the nature of things in this realm of science. We reach his lab, and after making sure we won't be disturbed, he leads us to the desk in question. "Now I know there's a strong chance that you, or anyone else really, is not going to agree with what I'm about to say, but all I can ask is that you here me out. You're the most logical one here, besides me of course, so if anyone'll be able to fully comprehend this it'll be you.", Douglas prefaces.

Bree's POV:

"That's what I thought, now scoot over.", I huff as I stomp over to the couch. Leo and Adam wordlessly scoot to the left. I snatch Leo's controller from him. "Hey! Why can't you take Adam's?", he complains. Cause I'm annoyed with our brother right now, and I can't kick his ass at whatever game this is if he doesn't have a controller. "Well I can't beat him if he's not playing.", I point out. Leo grumbles something under his breath, but lets what I did slide. "Pfttt that's a good 1 Bree, but don't you have to know how to play to not suck?", Adam asks while smirking over at me. Okay now he's actually trying to set me off. I glare at him until I realize he's teasing me like he was Leo a hot second ago. This is the kind of banter he's used to now, this really is just Adam being Adam, a goofball. Leo's about to power elbow him off the couch, but I use my super speed to lean over and grab Leo's arm in time. I smirk back at Adam, letting my angry glare turn into a competitive 1 instead. "I don't have to know what game this is to know you're going down no matter what.", I sweetly tell him. He full on smiles at me and loads the game up. I let Leo go and he relaxes into the couch. Adam kicks my ass for 3 rounds, and I figured that's how it'd go. It really was a lot of fun tho. We talked smack to each other as Leo cheered and screamed at the tv the entire time. If he had a bucket of popcorn, he probably would've thrown about half of it at the screen by now. I pass the controller back to Leo. "Here, I'm gonna go grab a salad from the cafeteria. Do you guys want anything?", I ask them.

Chase's POV:

The fact that Douglas immediately felt the need to plead his case before even beginning to explain the reason why I was lead here is concerning enough. Pair that with the nervousness that's splattered across his face, and I'm forced to question if he's accidently unleashed another virus. Or worse, failed to stop the secret of how he makes bionics from falling into the wrong hands. I voice none of this though, schooling my face to remain neutral and unbothered. "Go ahead, I'm listening.", I urge. He takes a deep breath before picking up what almost looks to be a miniature capsule. You'd almost think it's an arm capsule for Leo, but it doesn't appear to be open on both ends. It's in fact a closed tube, emitting a lime green light. He presents it to me, and I hesitate for a second before taking it from him. Upon closer inspection, there's tiny orbs of metal floating around inside, almost like liquid mercury. There isn't any other liquids in the capsule that would cause such flotation, so it must be the work of magnetism. "Those are the remains of Marcus, at least, what's left of them after I had to- stop him. I've kept them in that capsule all this time, I've rigged it so it remains charging even after it's been unplugged. You know, I would've rebuilt and reprogrammed him if Leo hadn't have thrown his parts all over the floor of the lab. It's my fault he was like that you know, being evil was in his code, he never knew any different. I made him that way, and then I decided to cut my loses and leave him there under all that rubble. I justified it by reminding myself that I didn't have the equipment or money to rebuild him, and being a man on the run I couldn't just drag around a bin with his parts inside. As soon as I got a new lab I should've went back for him. I abandoned him, I abandoned my son, and he had every right to be angry with me after Giselle brought him back. Lord knows that she even did to his coding, sometimes I wonder if she programmed revenge and a sadistic nature into his code. If the Marcus I knew before Giselle got her hands on him would've taken my offer, to turn over a new leaf and start over with us. After the attack happened, it really put things into perspective for Donny and I. Granted his version of things being put into perspective is to try and keep your brothers locked up here out of fear of them being hurt too. My version is realizing what really matters to me, besides being a genius inventor, family. Marcus deserved- deserves so much better than this. He's still in there you know, even in liquid form I've been able to keep him alive. I talk to him sometimes, a lot more than I used to recently. It would take a lot of work, but I want to bring him back, Chase. Do things right this time. He can be good, I know he can, if given the chance. I bet if I had your help he'd be up and running in no time. As soon as I get the all clear from the doctor that Donny insists I have look me over, I'm going back to the apartment. Your team is in need of some serious help. You can't defeat those dumb super villains by yourselves, but just think how much better off you'd be with Marcus by your sides. I know this won't be easy for anyone, and Leo'll fight me the entire way on this, but this is the right thing to do. I can feel it, it's time we completed our family.", Douglas pours out.

Bree's POV:

"Yeah I'll take a soda.", Adam says as he's already loading another game up. Leo 2nd's that, and I'm honestly lowkey a little surprised that he doesn't ask for some popcorn. "Okay, I'll be back in a little bit. Try not to kill each other while I'm gone.", I reply before I'm out the door. I let out a sigh as soon as the door shuts behind me. I'm not sure if it's a sigh of relief or tiredness. It's been a longgg day, and it's not even over yet. I start heading for the cafeteria, waving as former students as I go. Tonight's meeting is definitely gonna be a doozy, with everyone dropping bombs left and right, Mr. Davenport'll have to go on life support before everything's even over and done with. THEN Chase and I have to go back to the apartment, and talk to Skylar. Honestly I'd rather take the meeting than see the look or hurt, disappointment, or betrayal that Skylar's gonna give us when she finds out. What if she ends up leaving the team? I get in line as soon as I reach the cafeteria. She wouldn't do that, she cares more about protecting the city and the remaining superheroes than being petty. She'd probably just stop talking to Chase and I unless it was necessary. Fuck! Why did we let things go this far? We, and by we I mean mainly Chase, should've just bite the bullet and told her what was up. She would've been hurt either way, Jesus Christ we're dumb. I get my salad and the boys' sodas and head out to find a table. I end up running into Kate before I can actually sit down tho. Eh, it's fine, I'm sure she just wants to say hi real quick before running away to do whatever the new gen does for fun around here.

"Oh hey Kate, it's great to see you again.", I warmly tell her. She smiles at me, and she doesn't look nearly as shy as she usually does. I'm glad she's finally gaining some confidence. "It's great to see you too, Bree! I was actually just looking for you. Can I talk to you about something, in private?", Kate asks me. I wonder if she needs some girl advice or something. Maybe she has a crush on someone else here? Even tho all of the new gen are siblings, since they were all given their bionics by Krane, they're clearly not all biologically related. So ya know, same thing as Chase and me. I nod and follow her as she starts dragging me to the student, or should I say former student, sleeping area. She stops us before we can go in that wing. I shoot her a questioning look. "Why did we stop out here, are we trying to avoid someone?", I ask her. She looks around for a hot minute, not answering me. You'd think she would've at least cleared the area or something before going to look for me. "Yes, actually.", she replies as she's turning back around to look at me. Are you gonna elaborate on that or what? I'm about to ask her who we're supposed to be avoiding when I feel something hard hit the back of my head. I fall over, dropping my salad and the soda cans around me as my vision starts to go black. "It's about time you got here, I don't know how much longer I could've stalled her for.", I faintly hear Kate say. I feel someone grab my feet and start to drag me before I completely black out.
