Swoosh. What seemed to be a meteor of ice approaches Earth at immense speed. With pressure so great it caused waves to change direction and sky to change color as it approached a city. Blaring sirens go off and people go into a panic for the terror that approaches them. Screams left and right of men, women, and children. As the C-24 team shows up to the scene to stop the devastation many more of the ignorant begin to panic.
Commander: Report!
Analyst: It seems to be a glacier of massive size headed towards the heart of the city.
Commander: Damn, what are our options?
Edgar: We can try shooting it down.
Mayu: Yea and that will create smaller fragments of ice making the casualties larger.
Edgar: Right, didn't think of that.
Commander: Okay Mayu what do you suggest then?
Mayu: Well isn't it obvious? It's ice so all we have to do is melt it before it hits the city. Since it's entered the atmosphere it already started to melt so all we have to do is add more heat.
Commander: Right, let's get to it. Prepare the Flame cannon!
The commander gave out orders like a true leader, she had exceptional skills and prowess. Once they got the cannon warmed up they fired it. This caused rain and vaporization, making the air humid, foggy, and thick.
Commander: Update!
Analyst: It's working but according to my calculations, it's not enough. There's still a good chunk that can hit the city.
Commander: Fine, I'll do it myself.
The commander steps out of the base and runs towards the location where the meteor is supposed to hit. Once there she does a massive jump, a jump that seemed humanly impossible. Her long brown hair whips back as she approaches the giant block of space ice. And with a single punch she is able to destroy the much smaller and weaker meteor to many little harmless pieces. As the meteor cracked in half, a body appeared. The commander in shock doesn't have time to react and the body of a boy falls on her. They both fall to the ground and somehow the boys' face is stuffed into her chest. Confused and embarrassed, the commander doesn't know what to do. Support arrives at the scene and the boy wakes up from his slumber. He is wearing a black head bandanna with what seems to be body armor.
Boy: *speaks a strange language*
Commander: What are you doing? *shouting in embarrassment*
The boy looks down at the situation that he finds himself in. His eyes show three little balls of fire that start to rotate. The colors of the three fireballs are red, yellow, and blue. After a second, they stop spinning and his eyes go from a soft brown to a bright red. His face and ears turn red as well. Quickly getting off the commander and apologizing.
Boy *apologizing in strange language*
Commander: The hell are you saying, speak English.
Boy: English?
He thinks hard about it and then answers.
Boy: Oh English!
Commander: Yes! Do You speak it? If so, let's try this again.
Boy: Okay so as I was saying, I am deeply sorry. I think I went unconscious and the next thing I know I am on top of you.
Commander: Shut up, I don't want to hear it. Explain who you are and what you were doing in that frozen meteor. Start by telling me your name.
Boy: Easy! my name is… my name is.. my name…
Commander: What? Cat got your tongue? Tell me your name!
Boy: I… I don't remember.
Commander: Fine, at least try to explain why you were trapped in the ice meteor.
Boy: Not sure the last thing I remember was… being... in ... war…
Commander: What are you talking about? A war? There haven't been any wars in decades.
Boy: No, you don't understand. I'm not from here.
As he tries to grab the commander by the arms someone smacks him on the back of the head and knocks him out. Flashes of what happened before the arrival appears in his dream. Horrible things that one can only see in their nightmares. Suddenly he wakes up with a sweaty forehead yelling out the name "Angie!". He is blinded by a bright white light and greeted by a sense of isolation. He is locked in a clear room with a bed in the middle and counter on the side. Being covered in bandages and hooked up to an IV on his left arm, he notices a nurse.
Nurse: Angie? Is that your girlfriend or something? *with a smile as she places the IV drip bag on the hook*
Boy: What? No, she's… she's… I'm not sure. *Massaging his head* It hurts whenever I try to remember the past.
Nurse: It's okay, don't push yourself too hard, you were heavily injured and need to rest up. I'll check up on you later, okay?
Boy: Okay thanks…
Nurse: It's Gloria.
Boy: Thanks, Gloria.
As his eyes were slowly shutting he saw her leave the room. Gloria had two long golden braids and a nice warm smile. "She seems kind," he thought to himself. The next day he wakes up strapped down to a chair in front of an empty steel table. With a bright white light pointing at his face. From the dark appears a figure. A white uniform with stripes and medals. It's the commander.
Commander: So you're finally awake.
Boy: Where am I?
Commander: Shut your mouth! I don't know who you are or what you're doing here but my job is to get answers from you through any means.
Boy: Um okay, ask away then.
Commander: What? You're not going to resist?
Boy: No, why would I? I think there are better things I would rather be doing right now then be wasting my time with some pointless questions.
Commander: Are you trying to make a fool out of me?
The three fireballs appear again in his eyes and they start to rotate, but this time his eyes turn from a soft brown to a bright yellow.
Boy: Oh no, I would never try to do such a thing. Especially to the person that "saved" me. *as he does air quotes, a metal clink sound caused by the metal handcuffs hits the top of the steel table*
The Commander gets up ready to slap him but is stopped by two guards.
Commander: *biting her bottom lip with cheeks flushed red* Listen here you little shit, you keep up with the funny guy act and I'll make sure they keep you frozen forever.
Boy: Okay okay fine ask your stupid questions *his eyes turning back to a soft brown*
Commander: So… your arrival yesterday was a big shock to everyone. Especially for me. *starts walking around the interrogation room* it seems to be that you have almost no memory of your past except that you were in a war. Correct?
Boy: Correct.
Commander: Hmm. *deep in thought with her left hand on her chin* And there hasn't been a war on this planet for decades which means you aren't from around here.
Boy: Yea! That's what I was trying to tell you before some asshole knocked me out.
Commander: Yea that was Edgar *slightly looking away* please forgive him he can sometimes be a handful.
Boy: Edgar huh? Edgar, you bitch that shit hurt *his eyes turning into a sharp yellow for a second*
Edgar: *Through the speaker* What did you just call me? Oh ho, you lucky I ain't in the same room as you so I could beat the shit out of you.
Boy: Oooh I'm so scared.
Commander: Quiet both of you.
Edgar: Sorry commander.
Commander: I have a plan for you. It seems that you might be a good use for us. Since you claim that you've been to war it might be a strategic advantage to have you join the team. Yes, you and Edgar will have a duo to see how skilled you really are.
Edgar and Boy: WHAT?
Commander: Yes, it's the perfect plan. We get to see what you're really made of.
Boy: Well what's in it for me?
Commander: Well if you somehow survive the fight, you'll join the team.
Boy: Oh, I suppose so. *with a small frown*
They left for what seemed to be a training room. There were weapons on the walls as well as a second-floor filled with seats. Almost like an arena for gladiators.
Commander: You and Edgar will fight here and depending on your performance you'll either live or just be target practice.
The Boy was thinking "Geez this bitch really wants me dead".
Boy: Okay, whatever you say.
Edgar: Just shut up and show some respect to the Commander!
Commander: First off we will see how you do in hand to hand combat, then we'll move onto a magic battle, and if you're not dead by then you're going to "try" weapons. Is that clear?
Boy: I suppose.
Commander: As the Commander of the C-24 team, I confirm this duel to be legit and may begin.
Edgar then rushed towards the boy, his orange spiky hair swaying back and forth. Throwing a left hook followed by a right uppercut. Then Edgar strikes the boy with a strong right kick and sends him flying across the arena. Trying to recover from that kick, he sees Edgar in the sky about to send a downward kick. Barely able to dodge the last kick he says "at least give me time to recover you cunt". The boy dodges and Edgar's downward kick breaks part of the floor arena. Punches coming left and right.
Commander: In the arena, we don't let our opponents take a break. Out here it's either kill or be killed.
Analyst: It's clear that the boy can't fight, tell Edgar to move to the next category.
Commander: Fine, that's enough hand to hand. Next up magic!
Boy: Magic? I don't think I can use any. Ughhhh.
Edgar: This should be more interesting. Fire Art: Twin Fireballs!
Edgar then summoned two fireballs, one in each hand, and tossed them. The boy is able to dodge one but the second fireball just grazed his arm. "Edgar is using Fire Art magic, try using a water-based spell!" yelled a voice from the second floor. "Easier said than done, at this point I'm not even sure if I can use any magic", as a strike of lightning strikes him from behind. "Ugh, what the- Hey what's up with the cheap shots!"
Commander: *shaking her head* Looks like the rookie can't use magic either. Might as well move onto the weapons.
Edgar: You're cutting him too much slack! Let him suffer.
Boy: Dude you act like we're on the same level of skill, it's clear that you have the
advantage on everything.
Edgar then summons two SMGs and starts firing. "Quickly find some cover!" yells the same voice from the crowd. Bullets fly towards his direction tearing through his clothes. He just barely makes it behind cover.
Boy: Alright, alright you win.
Edgar: What?
Boy: You heard me, you win. I can't summon weapons, use magic, or have the strength to beat you in hand to hand.
Edgar: Oh okay, let me just put a bullet between your eyes and we can call it day. *with a smile*
At that moment he felt something, like a spark of energy and motivation. His eyes turned bright yellow once again and summoned a sword.
Boy: I'd like to see you try bitch.
Everybody was in shock, even Edgar, "how did he summon that sword", they asked themselves.
Elder: Is that? No, it can't be!
Commander: What is it Elder?
Elder: Commander you must stop the fight now!
Edgar: A sword huh? Okay then.
This time Edgar changed his weapon to a shotgun. He takes a step forward and fires.
Edgar: Show me what you got *as he takes another shot*.
A Shotgun shell flew out the weapon from every shot he took. Immediately after the fourth round came out of the shotgun, the boy took a deep breath and charged at Edgar.
Edgar: You fool!
He started to deflect the shotgun shells, but with the close range, it was almost impossible to deflect them all. Some managing to scrape him upon impact. He takes a deep breath and leaps forward slashing with his sword. Just one clean swing and he would win when all of a sudden he was frozen. Looking up he noticed both he and Edgar are frozen in place.
Boy: Hey! What's the big idea?!
Commander: Guards, get him! Lock him up, IMMEDIATELY.
Edgar: What's going on? It was just getting interesting!
Commander: That's enough! Edgar, you're dismissed!
Edgar: But-
Commander: I said dismissed!
Edgar: Fine! Don't think you've gotten away with this rookie.
The sudden situation clearly soiled his mood, as if he wasn't moody enough. The boy was then brought back to the interrogation room but now it's just the commander and him.
Boy: What the hell did I do? You didn't even let me finish my attack!
Commander: We have some serious questions to ask you.
Boy: Not again with this, ughhh.
Commander: You can start by telling me how the hell you were able to summon a divine sword!
Boy: Divine sword? What are you talking about? I panicked and just summoned whatever came to mind. What's wrong with that?
Commander: Because you were able to summon The Holy Sword!
Boy: Ouch my head, why does that sound so familiar ughh.
Commander: According to the elder he claims that The Holy Sword is one of
the four most powerful swords in the known universe! And someone like you, a rookie, was able to summon it!
Boy: Okay so I summoned a legendary sword, what of it?
Commander: You idiot! You still don't get it, do you? In order to be able to summon any of the four legendary swords, one must be a deity or have a close relationship with one.
Boy: Wait, a deity? As in like a divine being?
Commander: Yes! Now tell me what the hell are you?
Boy: I'm telling you! I don't remember!
Commander: Well you better come up with something because the sword you summoned is a very unique weapon, it attacks directly the opponent's soul.
Boy: Meaning?
Commander: Say, for example, Edgar tried to block your sword attack, the sword would just ignore anything in its path and go straight for the soul resulting in his death!
Boy: Ohh, so that's why you stopped the fight?
Commander: Yes and also to get some answers from you but I guess it's no use.
Anyways I think we might be able to use some of your skills for the upcoming tournament.
Boy: Wait what tournament? I never agreed to anything!
Commander: It's simple. You help us win the tournament and we provide you a place to live, eat and sleep. In other words, welcome to the team rookie.
Boy: Ugh fine whatever but can you please stop calling me rookie.
Commander: Okay but we're gonna need a name for you if you're going to stay here.
How about Ghost? We'll name you after the fact that you're pretty much an enigma.
Ghost: Ghost huh? Eh whatever, it's better than rookie. So, are we done here?
Commander: Not yet, just because you have a legendary weapon doesn't mean you have the skills to use it. We all saw how terrible you were in the arena. Edgar was basically wiping the floor with you.
Ghost: Right but you don't have to put it that way, making me seem all weak.
Commander: That's because you are! Which is why starting tomorrow your training will begin!
Ghost: Wow I just got here and I'm already being bossed around.
Commander: Hahaha be happy that we are even helping you.
Ghost: Right, thank you I suppose.
Commander: Your welcome, so for now only us two and the Elder really know what your sword is, let's keep it like that okay? Your sword can cause an uproar and we don't want that now do we? So just try avoiding using it.
Ghost: Whatever you say, boss.
Commander: It's Commander! Commander Velez, but Commander is just fine.
Ghost: Okay Commander.
Commander: See you're not as slow as you seem. *clearly joking*
Ghost: Hahaha so funny.
Commander: Okay, that's enough chatting. Gloria, please come in. *talking to a piece of hardware that was on her left hand*
Gloria: Yes, how may I be of service? *as she walks into the room*
Commander: So our new friend has joined the team and his name is Ghost, I'm sure you two have met before.
Ghost: She was the nice girl that took care of me while I was recovering, thanks again.
Commander: Anyways, show Ghost his new room. Tomorrow we're introducing him to the crew then we start his training.
As Ghost and Gloria stepped into the hallway he thought to himself "she is really cute, I hope I can spend more time with her".
Gloria: Okay, here we are.
Ghost: Huh? What? *still daydreaming about Gloria* Right, well thanks, Gloria.
Gloria: Sure thing, well if you need anything I'll be right next door okay?
Ghost: Okay *with a small friendly smile in sign of understanding*
Gloria: Goodnight… *takes a pause before entering her room and smiles*
Ghost was so shocked that he wasn't able to answer right away. "Goodnight Gloria," he says into the empty hallway. "Ugh I hope I can see her tomorrow", he says as he closes the door behind him. Ghost was extremely tired from all the punishment that Edgar gave him earlier. He collapses on his bed and shuts his eyes, falling into a deep slumber.
