Chapter 36

A/N

Hope ya'll enjoy this chapter :33

Meanwhile...

Cassia P.O.V.

My eyes shot open when I heard my alarm blaring. I slowly got up and checked the time:

5 goddamn 30.

I rolled my eyes and hit my face back into my pillow,

"Dumbass alarm."

"Cassia I need to tell you something."

I smiled, "What Jacob?"

I wrapped myself around one of his arms and rested my chin on his shoulder."

Unexpectedly, he slowly unraveled himself from me and scooted away.

I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion, "What's wrong babe?"

Jacob turned his head away losing eye contact,

"We need to break up Cassia."

My eyes slightly widened in shock,

"W-what did you just say?" I could feel my eyes begin to sting uncontrollably.

"I'm breaking up with you," He repeated clenching his jaw, "That's the only reason why I came here. Anything I have in your apartment, you can throw away."

"I don't need it."

Jacob began to get up from the couch when I grabbed his arm.

"No, please don't go. What is with you? Why are you saying all this?" I whimpered gripping tighter.

"Let go of me, Cassia."

I ignored him, looking down.

He then yanked his arm out and started to walk to my door.

I got off the couch and ran towards him, hugging him tightly from behind, "No Jacob. Please don't leave me."

Then they started to fall.

My cheeks were fully wet, staining the back of his t-shirt.

"Stop Cassia. Let me go." He said in a stern voice.

I shook my head, "First tell me why you're saying all this bullshit and then I'll let go."

Suddenly Jacob grabbed my arms, letting himself become free of my hold and pushed me away causing me to stumble to the ground.

He stared down at me,

"I cheated on you, Cassia."

And that was the last thing he said before opening my door and slamming it shut.

I immediately woke up, sitting straight up.

My face and pillow were stained with uncontrollable tears that came out of me while reminiscing that moment.

That disturbing moment.

I took deep shaky breaths in and out.

It's only been a couple of weeks since our breakup.

I never thought this would happen.

We had each other's backs for 5 fucking years.

I didn't realize a knife was slowly digging into my back.

I was blind.

Love blinded me.

Love makes you feel as if you can hold onto it and rely on it.

But in the most unexpected moments, it comes at you and thrashes you back into reality.

The reality that love isn't the only thing you can depend on in this world.

I was brainwashed into the world opposite of reality, with no worries.

Being heartbroken is the basic thing you can say.

And probably the only thing you can say for people to understand.

Because you can't express the feelings and emotions going through you.

You feel ruined,

lonely,

hopeless.

Your heart goes from being a plump, red, important puzzle piece in your body, beating in glee,

to an ice-cold, stone organ, that beats just out of necessity,

so you won't end up seeing darkness forever.

But most of all,

it's broken.

In pieces.

You have no idea whether it can be bandaged up again.

Can someone do that?

Out of the 7.6 billion in this world,

will that someone have the power to heal your heart?

I checked the time: 6:30.

"Well, there's no hope of me going back to sleep so might as well wake up now." I rubbed my face before heading to my bathroom.

Here's some background about where I live:

My apartment has a minimalistic and modern style to it.

Splashes of white, black, and gray fill all its space.

I'm a pharmacist and work in a pharmacy that I founded, so I'm happily well off when it comes to the money situation.

The location of it was based off of where the most visited places were in our area.

The distance from my home is reasonable.

Thankfully, it's right next to Choco's and several other tiny strip malls.

I love my pharmacy.

The birth of it was a physical display of all the times I worked my ass off and then achieved the success I finally deserved.

After heading out of the bathroom I slowly made some oatmeal as breakfast.

After eating that, I began getting ready to leave.

Rummaging through the clothes in my closet, I was debating whether I should go for a more business look or a casual aka lazy look.

"You know what Cassia?" I stared at myself in the mirror,

"You are NOT I repeat NOT going to let people see you at such a low point in your life."

"And the main way they can see that is your attire."

"So, put that sweatshirt and jeans BACK into your closet and wear this nice black and white polka-dotted blouse and these simple black trousers, ok? OK!"

I nodded to myself before putting on the outfit.

To accessorize, I wore my classic watch and studs.

I put on my everyday makeup: concealer, mascara, eyeliner, and a nude lip.

"Hopefully I don't look too puffy." I sighed.

Quickly, I went back to my kitchen, took out some leftovers from the fridge for my lunch, and put them in containers to take to the pharmacy.

Dramatically sliding to my shoe rack, I put some black heels to match with the look, grabbed all my essentials, and closed the door behind me.

I constantly checked the time on my watch while frantically fast-walking towards the elevator.

"Oh my god it's 7:10 I need to open at 7:30 I have to make itt." I groaned in frustration, simultaneously trying to fix my hair.

The elevator doors finally opened, reaching the apartment's garage.

I ran to my car and briskly drove out to the pharmacy.

I glanced at my watch: 7:29. "Hell yea, I made it." sighing in relief, and opened the door to the dark building.

I headed to the back area where only the workers can be and took off my coat, replacing it with the uniform coat.

The building illuminated as I switched all the lights on, including the OPEN sign.

Soon the rest of my workers entered as I greeted them.

"Hey good morning!" I smiled.

"Good morning? Do you SEE the weather outside Cassia? I don't know how I didn't turn into a human popsicle out there!?"

I chuckled then wrapped my arms around her, "It's ok Amber I'll thaw you out." I said rubbing her.

"Thank you, thank you." She smiled pulling out of the hug.

Amber was the first person I hired in my pharmacy.

She's stuck by me since day 1.

Honestly, I don't know how she's been putting up with me for all these years.

I shifted my eyes to everyone changing into their coats.

"Ok guys, let's get to work!!" I clapped my hands together, ready to conquer my day.

Hopefully.

12:00 p.m.

"Ah, it's almost lunchtime I'm so hungryyy." I whined, patting my stomach.

I felt a hand on my shoulder and turned to my side, "Me too Cassia," Amber sighed, "Me too."

I sighed, "Not a lot of people came today huh?"

"I thought more would come because of the weather." I looked out the window, to see light snow flying in the air.

"Yeah, you're right."

"But it's ok, it's nice to have a break once in a while ya know."

"This whole week it's been mayhem in here. People came in and out, right and left, up and down, OH MY GOD I was getting claustrophobic." Amber shuddered.

I nodded agreeing with her.

Then I heard the bell ring as the door opened.

"Oop this one's yours I'm gonna go hehe." Amber said before quickly escaping.

"Noo don't leave mee. You know you can't do that to your boss?!" I whispered reaching for her.

"I'm all alone now." I pouted.

But quickly had to change my expression,

"Welcome!" I grinned as a man entered, unraveling his scarf from his neck.

He walked up to the counter with his head down as he rubbed his temples,

"Hi, do you have anything for terrible headaches? I tried some over the counter medicines, but they did no good."

"I think it's because of other people's bad decisions that I am easily getting stressed out." He closed his eyes shut, continuing to rub the same area.

I laughed, "Oh yes of course! Do you mind waiting for a couple of minutes, let me go find the medicine real quick."

"Don't worry take your time."

The man had a calm soothing voice, contrasting to how the weather was outside.

If the weather had a voice it would be screaming, "HAHA WE'RE BACK BITCHES YA MISSED US? GET READY FOR BLIZZARDS TO BLOCK Y'ALL FROM LEAVIN DEM HOMES AHAHA!!"

I came back with the medicine, placing it on the counter.

"Here you go that will b-"

I stopped talking when I saw the man look up and open his eyes.

It seemed as if we both had a realization at once.

We made full eye contact with each other and opened our mouths at the same time,

"Have we met before?"
