Lenford: Must Have Been Fate

Len hadn't said a word since we left my home and his. He'd merely stare at my face, boring holes into my cheek.

My face felt hot from his gaze. Is there something on my face?

I glanced in his direction occasionally and smiled as I wanted him to feel reassured. Maybe he was regretting his actions back in my home...

I was wrong...

My face flushed even more when I saw Len's face. He probably didn't realise it but he was licking his lips more and giving me a heated gaze.

My head went into overload and I found myself turning back towards the road to put my mind off of his action. He hadn't said a word but...

Looking at his face was more than enough to figure out what he wanted from me. His lips were wet and open, an indication that he wanted me to kiss him. It was that sensual looking at him.

I squirmed a little in my seat as I tried to focus on the road. It was hard to do so, so I eased the car into the slow lane. At the very least, I wouldn't need to worry about cars honking me to move over.

I glanced at Len and noticed him clenching his fists. I furrowed my brows and placed my hand over his. He flinched before I gently rubbed his knuckles.

He relaxed under my touch. I smiled lightly to myself and continue rubbing his hand with my thumb as I focused on the road.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, Len placed his other hand over mine and I found my heart beating harder. I bit down hard on my lips to pull myself off of cloud nine yet it was hard to do so.

Len touched me!

But just as quickly as the high came, it left. Len took his hands out of my grasp and shifted in his position as he turned to face the door.

I frowned and turned my gaze back to the road. My hand landed on his thigh and I felt him flinch beneath my touch. I knitted my brows and released my hand from his thigh.

I didn't want to touch him until he initiated again. I heard a sigh from his corner of the car and felt my heart sink. So he didn't like me touching him...

Feeling dejected, I turned on the radio and let the soft melody from the good ol' oldies fill the car. I then eased the car into the fast lane as I stepped on the gas.

I think staying in the car would be too much on the both of us.

I wanted to reach the hotel soon. At least we would be able turn in for the night in separate rooms. A little space would do good for the both of us.

"Mr Doyle Richardson? May I please see your identity card for verification?"

"Sure." I said as I flipped through my wallet.

I handed my identification card to the woman as I glanced around at the hotel lobby. It seemed that this hotel was going for the natural kind of feel from how there were potted plants hanging from the ceiling and the latticed roof.

"Mr Doyle Richardson and Lenford Ruthard?"

"H-huh? Pardon?" I asked the woman again. I didn't mention Len's name...

"Doyle Richardson and Lenford Ruthard... Your names are registered for the same room."

"Eh? Umm... Give me a moment."

"Of course, that's no problem." the woman said as she went along with her work.

I furrowed my brows as I scrolled through my contacts. It doesn't matter what time it was, I'm going to call that darn boss and ask him what was the meaning of this.

"Doyle!" a familiar voice rang across the lobby as I turned towards it, my finger lingering above the call button.

"What-?" I turned around only to be locked in an embrace all of a sudden.

"You came! Man, today was so boring without you." the voice said before I furrowed my brows.

Who the heck? Acting so familiar?

I was about to shove said person off when it finally clicked. This was Rayson. Ugh... of all people to meet this late...

"Rayson." I said almost too coldly as I patted his back to get him off of me.

"Doyle, I'm glad you arrived. I was worried you weren't feeling well."

"That's fine. Ah... since you're up... Why is Len... ford in the same room as I am?"

"Hmmm? Oh, you're paired up?"

"What?"

"If you don't want to share a room with him, you can room with me! I can ask Parker to leave." Rayson said with a shrug as he patted my shoulder.

Room with Len? My heart fluttered in my chest before I suddenly realised what Rayson had said.

"Ah... since it was like that then it's fine. I don't need to bother you or Parker. We already arrived so late, it'll be so troublesome to do last minute changes."

"It's not a bo--" Rayson said but I immediately sped off to the reception desk and gotten the room key.

"Goodnight, Rayson." I said as I waved him goodbye and went up to the room.

I opened the door and dumped the luggage before shutting the room door and heading back to the car.

I reached the car park in a few minutes and opened the door before gently stroking Len's cheek.

"Len? Wake up... we're here." I said softly as I watched Len's eyelids flutter open.

"Hmm? Doyle..." Len muttered groggily as he touched my hand.

I grinned before unbuckling his seat belt. Len let go of my hand momentarily before turning to look at me with a lazy grin.

"If you're so sleepy, we can get you to bed. We've reached the hotel." I said as I stroked his hair lightly.

"Mm... Okay. Gimme a second..." Len moaned before he stretched. He then shook his head before I helped him out of the car.

Len stumbled and fell onto my chest as he tried to gather his bearings. He glanced up at me with his cheeks flushed red. I suppressed a smile and held his waist before shutting the door and locking the car.

"Are you alright? Can you stand?" I asked as my hand rested on his waist.

Len seemed to contemplate my words and was about to reply when giggles were heard from some women who came out of the lift lobby.

"N-no. I'm fine. You can let go."

"Oh... alright then." I said as I released his waist reluctantly.

I frowned as I watched the women enter a car. I then turned my gaze back to Len and smiled as I led him to the lift.

He stayed nearby me the entire time in the elevator as we reached the floor our room was on.

Only after we reached the room did I realise that Len didn't comment that we were in the same room. It was as if he was fine with the arrangement.

"Ah... umm... we're here." I said as I pushed the thought to the back of my mind and opened the room door.

Len nodded gratefully as he entered the room. I followed after him and shut the door behind me.

Silence ensued and I forced myself to look at his face, eventhough I was highly conscious.

Len's face was beet red when I glanced at him and I then traced the direction he was looking at. The bed...

There was only one bed. A double bed.

My cheeks instantly flared as my heart began to race. What was the boss thinking?!

"I... I'll take a bath first..." Len suddenly said as he headed for his luggage and opened his bag.

I covered my mouth and sat in the sofa in the far corner before replying with a low groan. I pressed the cushion over my legs as I tried to hide how excited I felt in this situation.

Was this merely a test from God or a twist of fate that wanted me to proceed in my relationship?
