Get some rest

During the weekdays, she worked and stayed at her apartment since it was only closely her working place.

Meanwhile, during weekends, she would go back to the Song family residence just to spend time with her grandfather. That was her weekly routine.

She was still receiving calls and messages from the Guan family but she blocked their numbers just to have her peaceful life. It really was a good thing that her grandfather decided to take her on a short vacation.

A week was probably not enough to move one from her problems but it was a start. But things didn't seem to go their way. Because of a storm that came in a day before their flight to Switzerland, all flights were canceled.

Violet was saddened by the news but Andrew made way and decided that they should have their vacation in the countryside.

As they headed to a province, she fell in love with the place the moment she has seen the view. She loved how green the plain fields were and how simple the houses were in the countryside.

The sight of the lake near the town they were about to stay caught her attention. It was big and yet, astonishing.

What a great place to live in. She thought.

They soon arrived at the house they were going to stay. It was located at the end of the town, It was more like a Victorian home instead of the usual designs of houses she saw when they passed by the town.

The two were greeted by a butler and a maid, the housekeepers of the place. They were both Asians like them so it was not that hard to make a conversation with them.

She looked around and how beautiful the place was. Alluring appointments such as coved and coffered ceilings, antique windows, and embossed wall coverings whisked her away to a bygone era, while the brilliant kitchen, updated baths, and superb master suite were firmly rooted in the present. Third-level bonus space included a kitchen and bath, offering flexible use for a variety of household needs.

"What do you think?" Andrew asked as he turned to look at her. "This is a place owned by a friend of ours

"Amazing!" She grinned at him. "I love it here!"

"I'm glad that you do." This wasn't said by her grandfather.

Violet turned to where the voice came from and she ended up looking towards the stairs. When he saw the man who said that, her eyes widened in disbelief.

"W-What are you doing here?!"

Although the man only gave her one of his usual smiles at her as if saying that 'I told you that we'll meet again.'

"I'm glad that you remember Raven." Andrew, her grandfather took a step forward and went to greet the man who just went downstairs. "It's good to see you again, Raven."

Violet was obviously confused with the turn of events. Her grandfather knew him? But how? He also asked if she remembered him? No, obviously no!

Seeing Violet's shocked gaze, Raven smiled and commented, "I don't think she remembers me at all."

Andrew sighed, "Well, how could she? You were in high school when she was only four years old back then." He turned his gaze at her. "He's the son of Xie Wujiu. He would usually come to our place back then and play with you."

She was still looking at them in confusion, not remembering anything that resonated with what they were saying.

"Anyway, we can discuss this later. For now, you must be tired, uncle Andrew." Raven ordered a servant to bring the old man to the guest room before he turned to Violet. "You too."

Violet remained still on the ground, refusing to go to her room as she hardly stared at him. She couldn't recall any memories with him. Something must be wrong. Did she get into an accident that caused her not to remember? As far as she knew, she never had an accident!

Thunder banged loudly which made her flinch in horror. Soon after, heavy rain began pouring outside. For some reason, it suddenly gave the place an eerie atmosphere.

"Violet, you should get some rest. I will order the servants to call you and Andrew once it's already time for dinner." Raven insisted, this time, he didn't have a smile on his face.

She could feel the hair in her body stand when she gazed longer in Raven's eyes. His amber eyes stared blankly at her. Even the welcoming atmosphere he gave her earlier was nowhere to be found.

"Ms. Song, I'll lead you to your room." One of the maids suddenly interrupted, startling her.

"O- oh... Okay..." Her instincts were already telling her to leave so that was what she was going to do.

It was actually awkward and creepy when she noticed how Raven's eyes followed her even when she began leaving.

What was happening? She was so confused and yet was also curious to know the truth. Did she really know him?

Her grandfather seemed to do so. It was better to stick close to her grandfather during her stay in the place. She didn't like the idea of living in one place with that man even if it was just for a week.

All she could do was pray that the company will suddenly call him back to the city for an urgent meeting.
