Violet noticed how awfully quiet Lucas was during the whole time while they were having their dinner. Only Raven and Abigail spoke the entire time.
After dinner, Raven left shortly while Lucas dropped the girls at their apartments.
"Abby, you can go ahead," said Violet as she gave her a meaningful glance.
"Sure, sure." She looked at Lucas and smiled, "don't keep her up so long."
"Don't worry, I won't," replied Lucas.
After Abigail left them, Violet turned to the man beside her and worriedly asked, "are you sure you're fine?"
"Are you worried?" He retorted with an amused smile.
"I am," she said, straightforwardly. "Did you fight with Raven?"
The last time she remembered, they were in rather friendlier terms, unlike this time. She noticed that he didn't say much in the other man's presence.
"Him? No, of course not. I just happen to be a quiet person whenever I'm in a group." He grinned.
"Huh... I find it hard to believe when you're talkative-"
"Only with you," he interrupted with a cheeky smile plastered on his lips.
Violet felt her cheeks heat up. She should have known...
He reached out and held her hand gently, "but it sure nice to have you worried because of me. Are you finally falling for me?"
"Maybe? Maybe not?" She replied with a small smile, not giving a definitive answer. She didn't pull her hand back from his hold but instead, she held his hand back.
This was a good sign. She was not pushing him away anymore.
"Do you want to see Grandma?" She invited.
"I like the way you're inviting me to your place," he chuckled.
She pouted, "only to see my cats. I'm not putting any other meanings to it."
"I know." He patted her gently and continued, "but I like to think that you're giving one."
She rolled her eyes at him. He seriously was... she paused at her thought. What word should perfectly fit him?
"Let's go, I'd love to see our babies." He began walking ahead of her, dragging her along with him since he was holding her hand.
Our babies...
The side of her lips curled up into a small smile. That didn't sound bad...
She welcomed him in her apartment and upon entering, they were greeted by the cats, meowing at them and rubbing their bodies against them.
The black cat only approached Violet though, ignoring the man beside her.
"Guess he still doesn't accept me as his father, huh?"
Upon hearing his words, the cat shot his head at him, looking at him with a glare, seemingly understanding his words.
Strange.
Violet thought that maybe Virus was just... more intelligent than the others. He was the youngest of her cat family after all.
"And here is Grandma, beautiful and elegant as usual." He carried the cat in his arms, gently caressing her fur.
The cat seemed to like his touch with made her purr and close her eyes.
While Lucas was busy entertaining the cats, she went and filled the cats' bowls with food which caused her pets to follow her there. Even Grandma jumped down from the man's arms just to follow the others.
"Do you want a drink? Juice? Water?" She offered with a smile.
"It's fine. I'm not going to stay long here. I just came along to see the cats, remember?"
"Oh... oh yeah..." She couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed when she heard his answer. She was hoping for him to stay a bit longer after all.
She walked back to him just to see him off by the door.
"So..." he trailed off, staring into her black orbs. "Are you going to give me a kiss before I leave?" He continued.
Once again, blush spread across her face in an instant. She pulled her hand back from his hold as she stuttered, "w-we're not yet in that stage of our relationship..."
"A kiss on the cheeks should suffice," he grinned widely.
If it was just a kiss on the cheeks, then... it was fine.
"Well?"
"A-alright."
Lucas's eyes sparkled in delight when he heard her answer. He bent forward to her level, turning his cheek on her.
Violet was hesitant as she looked at his cheek. She kept on telling herself that it should be fine. It was just on the cheek anyway.
She closed her eyes and finally leaned forward towards him to place a soft kiss on his cheek but something unexpected happened.
Instead of landing her lips on his cheek, the man turned his head just enough to capture her lips with his.
