Chapter Four - Meet Me On The Roof

When we arrived in Oakland, Billie woke me. I became flustered and bewildered at first, on where I was and suddenly I realized this is your life now, no more Jason, I felt like my former anxiety and stress disappeared. He stretched up to a suburban home that had a few cars into the driveway.

"Hon, do you want me to help you bring your luggage inside, you have a bunch of it?" Billie suggested.

I responded, "Uh... Yeah, sure."

"Oh okay, I'll you show where your new room is!" Billie exclaimed smiling.

Billie opened up his trunk for his car, then carried in the guitar; while, I snagged my suitcase with clothes. Billie opened up a door to an empty room with only a twin size bed, a wooden drawer, and a tv.

"This used to be Jakob's room, now since he moved out, we agreed we can use it for you."

In about 30 minutes, we got all my belongings into my room. I was utterly astonished that everything fit in my room; the room was negligible and overburdened.

"Hey, if you need anything, anything AT ALL, ask me," Billie said outside while we were taking the last item inside.

I saw a woman with black damp hair with dreadlocks step out of the master bedroom, then she acknowledged me.

"Oh sh*t, Billie, you didn't inform me you guys would be here this early," the woman responded.

"Sorry, Eighty. It looks like the text didn't go through," Billie said apologetically.

"Oh, that's fine, Billie," she greeted then hugged me.

"I realize, how awkward and overwhelm this is, Emily," Adrienne acknowledged,"finding out that your favorite musician is your adoptive dad," she announced while she was chugging a Coke she got from the counter. "Hey would you like some Coke or root beer, you look thirsty?" Adrienne suggested.

"Uh... No thanks," I replied.

"Well, if you like some of it is in the fridge," She added, then a few seconds later she added, "did Billie give you a tour of the house?" Adrienne wondered.

"No, he only showed me the room I'm settling in," I replied. "Bill--"

I heard a notification from her phone interrupt her, "Okay, he went to the store to go pick up groceries. Do you have anything you would like for breakfasts, lunch?" She asked curiously.

I posted off a few breakfast items like Pop-Tarts, waffles, and lunches. Within an hour, he arrived home with the groceries. We brought in all the groceries into the fridge, freezer, and cabinets. That night, I played my Xbox One, the games I played were Call Of Duty, Fortnite, and Halo for a moment or two. Then I fell asleep. About an hour later, I heard an Instagram notification go off on my phone. I acknowledged it was a message, it was Jessica, the message read,

"Hello, Emily. I haven't seen you at school in a couple of days. I noticed your dad on the news of all the crimes he committed. I became concerned about you. Did someone adopt you? Are you homeless? What's going on?"

I was reluctant to tell her about Billie Joe and Adrienne Armstrong being my adoptive parents, since she was an enormous fan of Green Day and even had a fan club dedicated to them to an app called, Amino.
