THE KING'S AGENTS

You know what? Let's just never come down to B2 of the packhouse ever again.

I just remembered the other trauma that happened here - the giant gyaara rat king that had broken out of a secret cell in our dungeons. I remembered because the moment Dad's voice popped up from behind me, the feeling of dread was exactly the same as when the gyaara made its appearance.

I froze for a full moment before stiffly turning around to face my Dad, Beta Lucas, AND Gamma Harry.

{We're so dead.} Jonah informed us over the mindlink.

"Is Gerald on the way?" Dad asked.

"Yes. There was some trouble with Endo or something, but they should be here anytime now." Beta Lucas reported.

"Trouble?" Dad frowned.

"Ah, its nothing serious Alpha." Beta Lucas shook his head.

Gamma Harry laughed though, "Endo is very popular these days."

Eh?

"Yah man." Beta Lucas laughed now, "But don't ask me if they love him or hate him."

Recently, for no rhyme or reason, Gamma Endo's name had been spread among the kindergarten pups. Tales of his heroic strength had been told and repeated across the dining tables of many of the pups' homes. The parents had no idea where this obsession with the gruff gamma came from.

The boy pups were talking about defeating the old Gamma one day. It was like the new milestone for the pups. It used to be, "One day, I'll grow up and be a strong warrior!"

But now it was, "One day, I'll grow up and beat up Gamma Endo."

Just an hour ago, Gamma Endo had just finish inspecting the picnic grounds and the surrounding woods (just to make sure the warriors on duty cleaned up properly), when a pup came over and asked him for help.

He followed the pup and unknowingly walked straight into their trap - a large crater behind the Alpha House, where he was promptly pelted with water bombs till he admitted defeat.

"I think Gerald said one of the pups took a video." Beta Lucas reported.

"Oh, I want to see it." Gamma Harry decided, "You must show me."

Anyway, Beta Gerald was held up because Gamma Endo had been so furious at being left in the pit, that he called in warriors to catch all the mischievous pups and drag them by their scuffs to the Morning Light Packhouse.

Naturally, Beta Gerald had to rush back to Morning Light to intervene. They were only pups. Most of them were only 6 to 8 year olds. Beta Gerald gave them a "stern talking to" and then drove them all home to their parents.

In short, the Morning Light Beta was held back because he had to carpool a bunch of troublemaking pups home. Poor Beta Gerald.

Dad shrugged, "That Endo."

And that was all. Dad didn't seem to feel the pups ganking Gamma Endo was that big a deal.

And yes, we pretty much "leaked" all this in front of Bell and the two new wolves.

Dad didn't seem to regard the two new wolves as a threat either.

"Hello, Son." Dad smiled, "What is my daughter up to this time?"

Seriously? I looked to Dad and then to Bell. Wth! Hello, Earth to Dad! There are two trespassers in our B2! This was our restricted access floor, remember?

"My princess?" Bell smirked at me.

I glared at Bell, if he dared to squeal on me, I'd bite his head off! Okay, no. You got me. His head was to pretty to remove from his body.

{Mate! ~❤️}Swooned my pyscho wolf.

Omo. Could it be? That all powerful wolves had a few screws loose? I felt quite sure Boo was crazy...

{Only crazy about Mate.} Boo said... Which sounded pretty psycho to me.

Bell shrugged arrogantly, "Who would know? My princess is always up to some kind of mischief."

Beta Lucas chuffed, "That's true."

And just like that, the men dismissed me - exactly the same way as they shook their heads and shrugged off the pups waylaying Gamma Endo earlier.

"And you, Son?" Dad asked, "Why did you bring Leon and Laru here?"

Hey, wait a minute!

"How did you know about Leon and Laru?" I demanded.

Dad looked confused, "They are currently my Son's agents. Why wouldn't I know them?"

"How did YOU know about my agents, Princess?" Bell wanted to know now. But it wasn't like I knew how to explain hearing their private mindlink exchange earlier.

But Bell was being distracting. The real issue was in the word "Agents".

I couldn't immediately place the significance of the word, but I felt sure Dad wasn't talking about insurance or housing.

Alphas had Betas and Tygers had Agents. There was a very famous legend that became a Lycan movie franchise. It was called, "The King's Agents" and it was VERY LOOSELY based on a real historical Color Mountain King who had seven agents.

According to Mrs Beta, it was so loosely based on history that except for the names of the characters, and the fact that the King had 3 mysterious agents instead of a beta, everything else was made up.

The agents were very cool in the movie. I only watched two of the three shows though. Mostly because by the second one, it got kinda dark and I was told the third show was even darker.

Why? Why did they like taking perfectly cool and action packed shows and ruin it for me like that?

Come to think of it, hadn't I met this particular Colored Mountain King in person? Guess who?

Give you a clue: he was the King who yielded the power of electricity. He was also the Colored Mountain King who introduced magic technology - machines like automated shields and turrets that were powered by magic stones.

He was also a Tyger - which explained why he had agents. I'm sure he wasn't the only King of the Colored Mountains who was also a Tyger, but he was apparently the only one who publicly appeared with these agents by his side.

During this time, the Royal Agency became a thing because all the powerful wolves wanted their own "agents" too. After watching the first movie, I dreamed of enrolling into the Royal Agency too. But I quickly changed my mind after the second movie.)

King Ignatius had 3 agents. Zane, his Right Hand, who dealt swift royal retribution with a double sword.

Leon, his Sword, who he always kept by his side to keep the order. In the movie, Leon was my favourite because he always says, "The shortest route is the straightest."

This was cool because he would swing his sword and the mountain or building or whatever in front of them would but cut clean into two.

And Laru, his Shield, who didn't have much character in the movie. Most of the time, Laru would jump in at the last minute to shield everyone and whenever he talked he was always worrying about how much danger King Ignatius or Leon was getting himself into.

He didn't have to worry about Zane because as far as the movie was concerned, Zane was bullet proof by his sheer loyalty and trust in King Ignatius.

Now I was studying the Leon and Laru standing behind Bell. They didn't look anything like in the movie.

"Where's Zane?" I asked as casually as I could.

Bell lifted a brow.

{Who's Zane?} Jonah mindlinked to Ben.

Ben shrugged, but he tried to clue me in, {Sam, that was just a movie.}

"I'm told he retired to the plains and was never heard from again." Bell answered.

Ha! Take that Ben! I was right!

"If you ever happen to KNOW where he is, princess, he would be very useful to me." Bell smirked at me. He also emphasized the word "know", so I think he was hinting for me to use my gift of insight.

No way! As if I was going to give Bell another agent to run his vengeance campaign!

Because that was what the Royal Retribution thing was. King Ignatius was not a popular king. He was very powerful and he did herald the face of technology, automating the magic used for everyday life in the Colored Mountains, BUT he was very short tempered, and because his power was lighting, he was very quick to strike in his anger.

He made a lot of enemies. Zane's job was to hunt down those enemies and end the enemity for good - like not in a Nobel Peace way either.

Okay, wait... That was like just the movie right?

"Have you seen the movie about you?" I asked, "It's really good."

Ben groaned, "Sam..."

The other men looked amused. Bell smirked. And I guess Leon and Laru hadn't seen their famous trilogy because they only looked confused.

I won't lie. I did feel a little bit fangirl about meeting the real King's Agents though, "Tell me the story of King Ignatius' three agents."
