3. She’s family

**JONAH'S POV**

"This is me getting the answers that I deserve," a confident voice spoke up.

I glanced over my shoulder to see Crimson standing by the door, her arms crossed and glaring at my uncle head-on.

Does she have a death wish?

"Oh is it?" He questioned fringing curiosity.

She scowled, "your nephew indirectly assisted me, I had already decided to question that man before I got here, however, your men interfered because they thought I was being kidnapped," she stated, her voice even and hollow.

My uncle just looked at her, I couldn't tell what he was thinking. But one thing is for sure I'm getting patrol duty for the year.

"This man drugged one of Cris' workers and I was sent to investigate, I got a name so I would be on my way," she stated walking past my uncle towards the stairs.

"I can send someone to clean it up to save you the hassle," she stated turning around to look at my uncle.

She was met with silence causing her to raise an eyebrow.

"No, I'll have someone clean it up," my uncle stated his voice gruff.

"Alright, so since I got assistance from your nephew, you can contact Cris, if you need my help, I'm sure you know what I specialize in," she said, ending with a smirk on her lips and mischief shining in her eyes.

"Bye Hunters," She said before making her exit.

"Boss....I," I started to explain but he cut me off.

"Not a word Jonah, you see me in my office in ten minutes, I'm going to check on your sister," he stated before walking back up the stairs.

"Well that went well," I said to no one.

"How is she getting home, she was driven here right?" Karina asked confused as we climbed the stairs.

I was about to answer when I heard the revving of an engine. I glanced back at Karina before rushing out the basement and to the front of the house.

No. She wouldn't take his car. His prized possession. Would she? I saw my uncle outside, his body rigid as he watched Crimson sitting in the driver seat of his Ferrari.

"You better get the hell out of my car!" He yelled at her marching to the door.

She exited the car and smiled at him before moving to the passenger's side.

"Well, aren't you going to drive me home since you took me in the first place?" She asked looking innocently at my uncle with a pout.

As I got closer to my uncle, I heard him mumble under his breath before getting into the car.

She beamed triumphantly as she got what she wanted. She raised her gaze at me and winked then slipped into the car.

God help both of them because I don't know who would kill who first.

**Raiden's POV**

Who does this woman think she is?

First demanding my nephew to let her interrogate her kidnapper. Then killing him like it's nothing.

And most of all taking one of my prize possessions for a joy ride.

She is absolutely mad.

Crimson.....

A name that instils fear. A ghost. And she's sitting next to me.

"Turn here," she stated pointing at the corner on my right.

I did as she said and looked up confused at the road I'm on. It's a private road that leads to Cris' home.

Why is she going here? How does she know here?

We drove up to the security booth. One of the guards walked up to the car and I rolled down my glass.

"Good afternoon, I'm here to...."

"Frank, let us in please darling," Crimson spoke above me causing Frank to look at her.

He smiled at her, "of course Crimson," he stated before motioning the other guard to let us through.

"Thanks, love," she shouted waving at him before I drove through the gate.

I stayed silent, watching her at the corner of my eye. She sighed before slouching into the chair.

I continued to drive before pulling up in front of the steps to Cris' house.

She stepped out as the front door opened. Cris stood at the doorway glancing at me before Crimson. He walked to the car, stopping right by my door.

"Thank for the ride Hunter," She told me before winking at Cris and matching up the stairs and into the house.

I got out and stood there confused. Cris was good at reading me.

"She's a handful yes but efficient," he stated as he stopped in front of me.

"How do you know her? Why?" I asked confused.

Crimson doesn't work for or with anyone. She's basically a ghost.

"She's family," he replied with a laugh.

"Wow, some dangerous family you have," I said with a chuckle.

"Cris!"

I turned my gaze from Cris to the door to the person that shouted his name.

She was hurrying out the door, and as she got closer I saw that her clothes were wrinkled and her jacket over her messenger bag. Her blonde hair was in a messy bun and her grey eyes sparkled with sleep. She looked as if she rolled out of bed.

"Amber, what's the matter?" Cris asked looking concerned.

"You didn't wake me! I know I would normally stay the night but I had to go home." She said with a frown.

Who is she to him? Why am I concerned about their relationship? Is this the girl that he was telling me about? The history professor?

"I thought I'll let you sleep in since you had a long day from work, you need to rest as well Amber," he said while moving a strand of hair from her face.

"I know but you cancelled your date with your girl and I was hoping to come, get the books and leave not fall asleep on the couch," she said pouting.

"I told the twins that I would be home tonight, Rocco has work for 6 in the morning and needs to rest after a full afternoon with them," she said rubbing her eyes before yawning.

"Sorry," she said her cheeks getting a bit red as she realized I was there.

"Hi, Raiden Hunter, this guy's rich friend," I said while raising my hand to shake and mentally scolding myself for saying that.

Really Raiden? You just didn't flaunt your money.

She chuckled before smiling at Cris, "rich friend huh? So is this the person that sponsored the bar?" She asked releasing my hand.

"Yes, but I am friends with him because he's a good person," Cris said with a smile while hitting me on my back.

"Hmmm, yes a good person; that's nice," She replied with a secret smile causing Cris to roll his eyes.

Cris was about to say something when a car horn sounded. Amber waved to the person in the car before saying her goodbyes to us.

"Oh Cris, Crim said that she has the information you wanted but she's tired and will give it in the morning," She told him with a smirk.

"Okay, I know not to disturb her sleep, learned my lesson the last time," Cris replied while rubbing his head.

"Bye guys; Raiden it was nice to meet you," She said before entering the car.

We waved until the car couldn't be seen. I faced Cris to say goodbye but he stopped me.

"I can give you her number if you'd like?" He said shrugging his shoulders.

"What?" I asked him confused.

"Amber, you kept looking at her; she's a great person and could use a bit of excitement," he told me with a smirk.

"Cris, I don't want to include her in my life," I told him truthfully.

Amber seems interesting and I would love to get to know her but my life is not the best especially for someone like her. I don't want to snuff out her light.

"Hmmm, she can handle it; just think it over and I sent you the number," he told me before walking into his home.

Glancing at my phone I see the message with her number. Maybe I should give it a chance?

No, I don't want to ruin her life.
