Prologue

I looked around for a while, not sure what to do, or where to go. I had no idea where I was, or where I had been for a while. I wanted to go back to my friends place, we lived together there, and things were good between us, but now I had been lost for quite some time now.

Every day, I hoped to see something that I had recognized, but it seemed that I was having no sort of luck. I had gone to see my parents, but a twoleg had picked me up, and taken me somewhere completely different, then he just dropped me off here.

Now I was lost, I wish that I had not gone to see my parents, but I had heard that they were sick, and I needed to badly see them. Now I was alone, and afraid... I hated being afraid, I was a big cat, but I scared easily. It was a good thing no one could see the way that I was right now.

I looked at the little path a bit angrily for a few moments, and then I stopped. I saw a cat looking at me, I blinked, and it was soon gone. It did not look real, maybe I was going crazy with all of the walking I had done, it seemed it was getting me nowhere, and I just wanted to give up.

I began walking over to where I had seen the imaginary cat, blinking my eyes, hoping to see it again, to let me know that it was real, and it was not just me going crazy. It seemed to do no real work for me however, as I just kept on walking down the side of the path that I had seen the cat.

Maybe it was a sign, my parents had told me about my mothers parents, how they were in a group of cats, and how they had seen cats of the dead. Maybe it was my parents that I had seen, maybe I was too late, and they were gone. I closed my eyes, just trying not to think about that.

I knew that I would get back soon, I knew I was going the right way, I knew that my parents were still alive. They were just sick, they were not old, a little cough would not hurt them that bad, surely right?

I kept on walking, with my head to the ground, not paying attention at all as to where I was walking. I knew that I was not on the path, I knew it, because I could hear the monsters moving right past me. I did not dare look at them, I was scared of them.

To be fair, who was not scared of the monsters? I closed my eyes for a few moments, and I just stopped in the middle of the path that I was walking in, I shook my head and just listened as the monsters drove right on past me.

I opened my eyes, but that was not all that I could hear. I could hear a dog, but it was not barking at me. It was talking, I could tell it was a dog because of the voice of how it was talking. I turned my head over to it, seeing its head poking out of the bottom of a fence to a twoleg place.

I blinked a couple times, it was looking right at me, and it was speaking to me. I really was going crazy, I shook my head, and then just kept on walking. The dog kept on talking however, even louder than I had heard it speaking before.

It was real... But how? How could I dog talk? I thought of dogs as just being stupid, but this dog seemed to be much smarter than many other dogs that I had ever run into. I looked at the dog to hear it speaking to me, and pay attention to its voice.

I was so hungry, and very thirsty as well, I did not know what to do, surely I was going mad! The dog was practically shouting at me now, and I just wanted to shut it up... Even if it was a small dog, it was still a dog, and that would be pretty stupid of me.

"Hey buddy! Do you need something to eat? You look starving, I can see your ribs!" The dog said to me. I looked at the dog for a few moments, and thought about how hungry I was. I felt like I was about to faint, from the dehydration and the fact that a dog was talking to me, as if it was normal.

I blinked for a few moments, was I dead? Was this some sort of cat heaven? Where was I at? I looked at the dog and then began to walk over to it, nodding, I did not know why in my right mind I was walking over to a dog. I was just so hungry, it did not matter to me.

"Yes! Please! Do you have water to?!" I asked the dog. The dog looked at me for about a second, and then it nodded to me. I looked at the dog, as it suddenly disappeared from the hole it had made in the fence.

I watched for a few moments, as I saw its paws poke out, and it began digging down at the dirt, to try to make a hole for me. I was thankful for the dog, I did not know how much longer that I could make it without food or water, and there was no way that I could jump over that fence either, in the condition that I was in.

As the hole began to grow bigger and bigger, I then began to feel more and more weak, I was beginning to wish that I had just kept on walking, it was not good to just stand there for a long time in the condition that I was in, I could feel that I was about to pass out.

The dog then stopped digging, and it stuck its head out to begin to talk to me, which still did not seem at all real to me in the first place.

"Come in! You look like you are about to die!" She said to me. I looked at the dog, still not sure if I should do it, but I got over myself and then I began to walk over towards the hole that she had made in the fence for me. Once I was over, I then hopped over.

I looked up to make sure that the dog was not about to attack me, and make me its dinner for the night, but it was just looking at me, as if it had a bit of a worried look on its face. I was still surprised to see that a dog could actually care about a cat.

The dog then nodded to me, as I saw a bowl full of water and dry food. I ran over to it right away, thanking the fact that a dog was for some reason giving me its food, and its water. The dog just watched me, as I first began to lap up as much water as a possibly could.

I then began to bite into the dry food, and I almost felt like I was going to vomit. The food was nasty, but I was not going to complain, I was just happy at the fact that the dog was giving me some food, otherwise I could just be starving, and just end up dying.

I would rather that happen, than to end up in one of those shelters, I had been in one when I was much younger, but I had snuck out of my owners window one night, and ran off, a day later I had found my best friend, and a cat that I hoped would be my future mate.

It did not seem like that was going to happen anymore however, I was just lucky that I was alive right now, I just was never going to see her ever again. I looked down at the ground a bit sadly as I just kept on eating, but the dog seemed to notice the look on my face, as it began to talk to me, which still did not seem real to me.

"What's up with you? You look pretty down, you lose your owners?" The dog said to me. I looked at the dog for a few moments, and then I hissed. Not at the dog, but it jumped back, a bit surprised, I looked down at the ground a bit sadly once again.

I felt like expressing my emotions to someone right now, but it still did not seem real that I was talking to a dog. I figured that none of this was real, but maybe I had to speak to the dog before I was able to get out of the dream. I then began to talk to the dog.

"No... I hate twolegs, I got trapped by one, I was looking for my parents, and it dropped my off in the middle of nowhere, I am looking for my friend now, I fear that my parents are dead though..." I said to the dog. The dog looked at me for a few moments, and then it looked down at the ground a bit sadly.

The dog nodded to me, as if it understood what I was getting at, from what I could tell, her twolegs seemed to not care about her either, it looked as if she lived in the small little yard, and the only time she saw her owners was when they came out to feed her...

"Oh... I am sorry, I know what it is like, and I know what it's like to lose friends as well... My friends went out to start some sort of thing called clans, something about a Windlclan, and a Shadowclan. They were cats as well..." She said to me. I looked at the dog a bit surprised, I had not heard those words used in quite a long time.

The last time I had heard those words, was when my parents used to tell me the story about their own parents being a part of the clans... About how they fell apart, were they all the sudden back? Maybe this was just what I needed, maybe I did not need my friend...

I looked at the dog a bit surprised to hear the words, she did not seem to notice as she turned her head back over to the little hole that she had made in the bottom of the fence. She looked as if she wanted to leave, and join her friends as well.

I was not thinking about that, I was a part of the blood of the clans, if they were coming back, then I had to come back with them as well! I stopped eating and then I began to talk to the dog. The dog looked at me moments to hear what it was that I was saying.

"Clans? Tell me more about them! Who are the cats that you are talking about?" I said to the dog. The dog looked at me for a few moments, as if she did not trust me, which confused me for a little bit, but she then nodded to me, and then began to tell me the story...

"Well... My friend Moon, he went with his friends, Limp, Briar, Shadow, Youngtail, Summer, and-" I cut the dog off once I heard the name Summer. I did not know what to say, but I just began to speak, this had to be my friend Summer, surely right?!

"Summer? That's my friend, where did they go to?" I said to the dog. The dog looked at me a bit surprised for a few moments, that I had recognized the name of one of the cats. She then looked at me and then began to nod.

She took a few moments to respond to what I had asked however, she still did not look as if she trusted me however, which I was a bit confused about, but I shook my head as she then began to speak to me.

"They left from Summer's house, is she really your friend? Wow! That is crazy, things seem to come full circle more often than not." She said to me. I looked at the dog and then nodded, I did not pay attention to what she said at the last part.

All I needed to hear was that were they had left off to. I began to walk off, and the dog looked at me, as if it was a bit surprised, confused, and I bit hurt at the same time. I remembered that she had called the cats her friends, she was probably sad to see me go.

I turned my head back to the dog, figuring that I may as well thank her for what she had done for me, before I headed off to find my friend. The dog looked at me, seeing that I was looking back at the dog. Then it began to pay attention to what it was that I had to say to her.

"Thank you! I will tell them about you, what is your name?" I said to the dog. The dog looked at me, a bit surprised and then she nodded back to me to respond to what I had just asked from her, she looked a bit excited, as he small little tail began to wag.

"Oh please do! I am Sphynx, good luck on your travels, they are that way by the way!" She said to me. It was almost as if she had read my mind, I was about to ask were Summers house even was in the first place. I nodded to the dog, and then I walked out of the little hole that she had made for me in the fence...

I was going to find my friends! This all was going to end good for me!
