Chapter 3: She's going to be okay

I looked at my friend Limp, and she looked very worried about all of this. But, she kept her calm though, and I know a few moons ago that might not have been the same for her. She had sure grown up a lot, and I was proud of her for it.

I was happy that her and Mint were such great friends, it got my mind off of me feeling bad about not spending enough time with her. I know that one of these days, I should take a day off, and maybe go on a walk with her...

I shook my head though, but who would lead the clan? I couldn't keep relying on Owl to step up for me, he had a mate as well, and he had just been as busy as I was taking care of the clan. I shivered, thinking about what it would be like when we had a clan full of cats.

My eyes then turned back to Limp, as I began to hear her talking, breaking the few moments of silence that we had. I was happy for it, I did not like what went on in my head when we there was just silence in the room. It got me so worried, and sometimes there was no reason to be.

"Well... We can do that later, I sent Mint out to get some herbs not too long ago, so it might be a while til she comes back, and from what I can tell, Owl is busy as well... It will have to be tonight if we are going to talk... I will speak with Mint on it, I assumed you already talked to Owl about it?" She said to me. I looked down at the ground a bit upset at myself.

I could tell that Limp had noticed it, I cursed myself for not telling Owl about the potential meeting between us that we were going to have tonight. What good was a deputy, if I did not tell him things like that? I shook my head and then looked at Limp to respond to her.

"No... He is busy taking care of the clan right now, he is giving me a day off... What is the dream that you had last night?" I said to her. Trying to get us back on track to what we were talking about in the first place. I knew she would be a fair bit upset at me, but there were bigger issues to worry about right now.

She looked at me for a few moments, squinting her eyes at me. Then she nodded at me, and she began to tell me her recollections of the dream that she had last night. I calmed myself, standing still, to listen to what it was that she had to tell me.

"I saw 2 cats... They were in our territory somewhere, I could smell it, but my vision was blurry... I think they were in trouble..." She said to me. I looked at her for a few moments, and then I nodded. I knew that she was not playing around, I knew that a lot of cats in camp did not quite believe in Starclan yet so they would think that she was crazy.

I hoped to get it to where they began to believe in Starclan as well some day. I wondered what I could possibly do to get it like that. I then began to recall a slight bit of my dream in my mind last night. The cats did not believe in the stars, but it would be the Moon to guide them to the stars...

I could tell by the look on the face of Limp, that she was starting to get a bit antsy, and a bit worried. She could tell that I was thinking through all of it in my head, and with me doing that, she was probably doing the same thing as well... I knew that she did not like to think about things that deep.

I looked at her, and then I lowered my head down onto the ground. I nodded my apologies to her, in which she did the same thing back to me. I then began to speak my mind about all of this, adding in a small part of my dream, but not going into too much detail, saving it for tonight.

"I had the same problems in my dream, it was just a bit different, I was getting attacked by a cat, and I swear that I remember the smell." I said to her. She looked at me for a few moments, and then she nodded to me. We sat there in a few more moments of silence, I could tell she was thinking it through in her head, on what it could possibly mean in the first place.

I turned my head back to the clearing of the camp, I could hear no cats talking, and everything was silent. I was beginning to grow a bit worried. I suppose that I shouldn't be however, there were not many cats in the camp in the first place.

Owl had probably done his job, and he had arranged patrols for the cats this morning, there was more than likely nothing that I needed to worry about. I turned my head back to Limp as I began to hear her speaking back to me. I looked at her, and then nodded, letting her know that I was paying attention to what it was that she had to say about all of this.

"Well... I want you to help me find those cats that I heard in the dream, they sounded to be in trouble. I don't know if I should bring any medicine with me." She said to me. I looked at her for a few moments, and then I nodded to her. There was a part of me that was telling me to be lazy and tell her just to do it herself.

I knew that the dreams that Starclan gave to us were nothing to be messed with either however. I looked at her, and then nodded. I did not know much about herbs, so I hope she was not giving me that look, as if she was expecting me to give her advice about herbs. I looked at her and then began to speak.

"Alright, lets go ahead and go while it's still early, I have no idea in my right mind where it might be at." I said to her. She looked at me for a few moments, still a bit worried, but she then nodded to me. I looked back at the clearing, hoping to see signs of life, but I did not get any.

She looked at her small little room in the medicine den for a few moments, and then she shook her head. Her guess was as good as mine, probably better than mine because she had been the one that had actually been in the dream.

I knew that she was worried about being a medicine cat, and she was worried about using the correct herbs as well. She had not messed up once so far, so I doubt that it was going to all of the sudden just change, from out of the blue.

"Well... I smelt flowers, daisys and roses if you might know where they could be at." She said to me. I looked at her for a few moments, trying to think about it as deeply as I could. I looked down at the ground and then I shook my head at her. Once again, her guess was just as good as mine, I was still new to all of this territory.

I knew a few places there were flowers, but I did not pay attention to them to find out the exact type of flower. If I went to those places to where I remember seeing flowers, it could take us several days just to be searching to the right patch.

There were flowers all over our territory. She knew that to be true as well, which is why she had her head down to the ground as well. I moved towards her, and then nudged the side of her body to try and get her to feel a little bit better.

She looked at me for a few moments, and then she looked down at the ground. I could tell that she was still very worried, and there was nothing that I could do to help her feel any better about it. I looked outside for the 3rd time, and still not seeing any cats, but I could smell them, so I knew there were still a few in camp.

I turned my head back to Limp, she still had her head to the ground, and I could tell that she was thinking a lot of thoughts in her head right now, which I knew was something that she hated to do. I figured I might as well get her mind off of those thoughts, as I began to speak to her.

"Lets go ahead and go, best not to waste any more time. I am sure someone might know where there are some flowers if you want to ask." I said to her. She put her head back up at me. I could tell it took her mind off of the bad thoughts right away, which was my intent in the first place.

She then looked at me, and then she nodded. This time she finally decided to walk out of the medicine den. I followed her out, I could tell that she was a bit worried still, I hoped she would not be like that, or else we would never find the way there.

If you think that you cannot get it done, than you will not get it done, it was one thing that I had learned from my best friend Tristan. I closed my eyes for a few moments, and then followed the footsteps of Limp to the exit of our camp.

Just as we were about to get out however, I heard the voice of a cat as it began to speak to Limp. I opened my eyes, a bit upset that I had lost all of that focus, and I turned my head to the cat, to see what cat it was that had ruined that moment for me.

I noticed that it was Flame, and I found out why he had sounded a bit worried seeing that I was following Limp out of camp. He probably had no clue what we were doing for one, and not to mention he didn't realize that I was so focused on thought either. I shook my head and just listened to what it was that he had to say to Limp.

"Are you leaving camp Limp? With Moon as well? Are you going to a gathering or something?" He said to us. I looked at him for a few moments, and then I squinted my eyes at him. I did not like that he was asking so many questions, he sounded as if he was the kit of Rabbit and not the mate of her.

Limp looked as if she was about to speak, but I stepped in a bit upset, and a bit angry that he had stopped me while I was lost in good and deep thoughts. It was not often that I had that happen for me, and it got on my nerves that he had stopped it the one time that it had happened to me.

"It's none of your business Flame... I am the leader, and this is my medicine cat, if we feel like we should tell you, than we will tell you." I said to him. He looked at me, with a bit of a surprised look on his face, he had never seen me this angry before.

I was always a calm, and cool cat to each of the rest of the cats in the clan, so I understood why it came as a bit of a surprise to him to see me get this angry. I was just losing my temper for some reason right now, I was acting like Limp was a few moons ago.

Limp looked at me, a bit surprised to see me so upset at Flame, she then turned her head over to Flame. She then nodded to him to get his attention back to her. I could still tell that Flame was a bit hurt at how I had attacked him like that.

"It's okay Flame... We are on a mission right now, and we do not have very much time, he is just worried about the mission, he is not mad at you." She said to him. To be honest, that was a bit of a lie, I was getting quite a bit annoyed with him a lot lately, but I shook my head to him anyways, pretending that I was no longer upset.

He looked at me, and then nodded, but then he turned his head back to Limp, and then he kept on talking back to her, as if he had not payed any attention to what she had just said to him. Or maybe he had just not cared, which is the sort of story line I was starting to get out of this cat.

"I'm sorry you two, I am just worried about Rabbit, what if she has one of those random attacks like she had a few days ago." He said to her. I looked at him, and then I began to understand where he was coming from. I felt a bit bad for getting so angry at him just a few moments ago.

I would be in the same sort of boat, if I saw our medicine cat leaving, and my mate had just given birth to my kits no more than a few days before. I looked down at the ground a bit upset at myself, but then I looked up as I heard Limp begin to start speaking to him once again.

"I understand Flame... She only had that attack because she had just given birth, she will not have that happen to her again. Just make sure that you have water for her, and food for her when she is hungry." Limp said to him. I looked at him and then nodded my understanding to him.

He nodded back to me, and then he turned his head back to Limp, and he nodded to her as well. Then he looked back over to me, with a bit of a smile on his face, he then began to speak to me, and it warmed my heart the words that he said to me, and it made me feel a bit upset at myself for what I had said to him just a few moments ago.

"Thanks to the both of you... And, thank you Moon, though I do not know you well, I do know that you are a good leader, and I am thankful that you took my mate in, just before she had her kits." He said to me. I smiled at him, and then looked down at the ground.

I felt a bit flabbergasted, I did not ever get very many compliments about being a good leader. It was beginning to worry me, that maybe I was not so much of a good leader after all. I did not know what life was like in the other clans right now.

I talked to Kettle recently, and he said that things were going well. Youngtail had told me however, that things were starting to get a bit chaotic in Shadowclan, luckily our gathering was just a few days from now, so I could give them some advice...

I hoped that they were going to be okay, I could only take care of one clan, Kevin I hoped was doing at least somewhat of a good job in his clan, I had rushed a bit choosing a leader for that clan, I was happy with the choices I had made for the rest of the clans.

I kind of regretted not making Shadow the leader, I had a bad first impression on him, and it had stuck on me for quite a while. He was also only my age, and he had probably not grown up as much as I had to be a leader of a clan anyways.

I realized that both of the cats were looking at me, waiting for me to speak, I nodded to each one of them, not sure what to say off of the top of my head, my mind was still stuck on worrying about other clans... I should be making sure that my own clan was safe first.

I looked at Flame and then nodded to him, and then I began to speak to him, to try and make him feel a bit better, and to not be so worried about his mate. I knew they were both a bit young, and this was their first batch of kits.

"Don't worry Flame, your mate, in our clan, she is going to be okay..."
