Contract

Yuan Tai kept his gaze steady despite the pressure put on him from just a mere gaze.

Overseer Lin looked at him for a couple of seconds before making her way over to him, that's when he started to worry a little. He decided to just stay still, since it didn't matter if he ran away or not, the woman was enough to destroy the entire city easily.

With each step she took closer to him, the more pressure fell upon him.

"Where is Overseer Lin going?"

"Who is that young man?"

"I pity that young man, for having caught Overseer Lin's attention. We might not even know what will happen to him now."

"What do you mean old man?"

"That last man to have caught her attention went missing for a year before being found dead at the bottom of a pond. At first everyone thought it was a coincidence that he disappeared then, but Overseer Lin's Mark of Death was on him. She even made it public!"

"Wha-what! That's crazy! It's a shame then, I don't even think I should pray for the man since it won't help him against her."

Overseer Lin stood in front of Sora with a dark face, she looked at Sora with cold eyes before looking at the bag he was carrying next to him.

"..."

'Bing'er...' Yuan Tai put his hands over the bag and slowly moved it to his back as he cautiously looked at the woman.

".... come with me," said Overseer Lin after giving Sora a brief look and leaving.

"Guh..."

Yuan Tai groaned and followed behind Overseer Lin as he kept Bing'er near himself.

"Greetings Overseer Lin!"

Greeted two big guys standing before a door with respect. Overseer Lin continued walking forward and opened the door before entering with Yuan Tai. She closed the door and looked at him for a second before surprising Sora.

"WOW! I've never seen a Winter Fox cub this close!" exclaimed Overseer Lin as she looked right at the bag Yuan Tai had on himself.

"Wha!" Yuan Tai took a step back in surprise. 'Who is she? Winter Fox? Is that Bing'er's species… Observe!'

[Name: Lin Yueru

Occupation: Monster Tamer

Level: 38

Title: Overseer Lin

HP: 4,250

MP: 2,400

CON: 85

STR: 55

DEX: 80 (+5%)

INT: 100 (+20)

WIS: 90]

'That's… amazing...' remarked Yuan Tai as he looked at Overseer Lin's status. 'Those two additions… they must be from some equipment she's wearing.

As a Monster Tamer, it seems like she can't put too much stat points into her strength stat.'

"Let me see the Winter Fox," said Overseer Lin.

"Its name is Bing'er," said Yuan Tai as he showed Bing'er.

"An interesting name," said Overseer Lin before grabbing Bing'er and looking into its eyes. "It seems to hold great affection to you, like that of a daughter to a father."

Overseer Lin held Bing'er up for quite a while before returning it to Yuan Tai and saying, "Invite it to your part- AHEM.. I mean, let me pull up a contract for you and Bing'er to sign. That way you are both connected and can grow alongside each other.

The Winter Fox will only be taking 10% of the total XP, but that is enough for it."

Overseer Lin began to sweat a little as she talked with Yuan Tai. She pulled up a piece of paper from out of nowhere before presenting it to Yuan Tai.

"A contract?" asked Sora curiously.

"Ye-yes. I made this contract after carefully studying something closely. Eventually, I was able to make this with the help of my profession. Here, take a look and then sign it afterwards," said Overseer Lin as she handed the paper to Yuan Tai and a pen.

"..."

Yuan Tai looked at the contract carefully and even occasionally looked at Overseer Lin, hoping to catch something fishy. Since he lived a long life as a thief, he had learnt how to read people and their true natures.

Sometimes seeing through them was an easy job, but those with higher levels took a while longer than it is supposed to take.

Yuan Tai sighed and signed the contract before passing it over to Bing'er and having it leave it's paw mark on the paper. After a close observation, he was able to see that Overseer Lin is a sincere and caring person, yet also a ruthless person to her enemies.

Luckily, she viewed him as a by-stander, maybe even just as an acquaintance.
