I woke up the next morning with vetala staring out the window.
"Good morning" he said.
"I'm still going to have to get used to that" I thought.
I brushed my teeth and took a shower. I then went outside. Vetala still followed me which made me a bit uneasy.
I went to the dining room. Everyone else was eating breakfast.
"Oh Max, we were just about to wake you up" May said.
I went and sat down.
"So the funeral is being held tomorrow, are you feeling okay?" she asked.
Time ran differently in the game world. It had been so long that I had completely lost track.
"Yeah, I'm feeling okay" I responded.
May looked at every one else. She was definitely nervous .They all had serious expressions on their faces and her mother nodded.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
May took a deep breath. "Well... we managed to contact your father and-"
"He's not coming right?" I cut her off. "It's okay I knew this would happen." I said.
May looked at me with concern. "Max... your father is coming" she said.
I looked at her and took a breath.
"You have some problems with your father?" Vetala asked. "I remember mine, we wouldn't agree on anything. But family's family huh?" he said.
I rubbed my forehead. "It's okay, i'll just keep my distance" I said. I got up and left the table. "I'll eat outside" I told them and left before they could say anything.
I walked down the road. My mind felt fuzzy.
"I'm going to meet that man for the first time in my life. What am I going to say?" I thought as I walked down the road.
"Nothing, nothing at all. Ignore him, he's not worth your time." a part of me thought.
But another part of me wanted to ask him. "Why?" why had he abandoned me?
I was deep in thought until vetala cleared his throat. "So where are we going to be specific?" he asked.
I thought for a bit and decided to keep my father out of my mind. There were more important matters to think about. "The woods" I told him.
Vetala seemed to understand and simply nodded his head and continued walking.
By the time we reached the woods it was 11 and the sun was burning. We were- or should I say I was grateful for the shade of the trees. It didn't seem to affect vetala in any way.
I sat down on the fresh grass and opened up my hud the same way I would in game. Nothing seemed different nor did it feel different. It was so familiar that I remembered what vetala had said. "How do you know what's real and what's not?".
I went over to my abilities panel and checked it out. Everything was the same. I didn't have any doubts on whether I could use my abilities. Vetala was proof of that.
I then went to my weapons tab.
My revolver was still there, gold and black. My dagger was too.
I pressed 'equip revolver' and it materialised in my hand.
"It's just like in the game" I thought.
I took aim and fired at the tree but it recoiled and hit me in the face.
"Ouch!"
Vetala was laughing at me. "Wow you really got yourself good didn't you?" he said.
"Shut up" I told him but he continued laughing.
I spent the rest of the day practising shooting. The gun was silent surprisingly and wasn't that heavy.
By evening I had exhausted myself and my hands were sore. I could access my hud like in game and use everything but my stats were down to level 1.
"Good practise session though" I thought.
