First Hunt

I trained and worked hard to improve myself for one week. I looked at my Improvements to only see the slow progress that I have made in that short while.

During that week, I haven't leveled up because training did not increase my EXP count nor it increased my strength it only honed my skills and techniques when I used them. The movement technique Sir Willy gave me was hard to master but in that time I felt my body getting lighter as the days passed so I wholeheartedly practiced it more than before when I started.

Mana Sense also leveled up and from before where I could see levels now I can sense the surroundings near a meter. I know that it was quite short but in the future when I improve it. It would become a useful skill when fighting enemies.

I looked at my stat attributes where there was a Soul attribute which I still don't know how it is used. Sir Willy and I still fought to give me pointers on where I should Improve more. I fought him using the Swift Swallow Steps that he taught and he was shocked as he saw me gain mastery in just a week of training.

Sir Willy did not know that I have a system with me who would show me how much is there to do repeating the movement so I could master it. Though this system did not help me that much maybe there is a glitch or malfunction on it or something. I don't know but I guess I have to find out about it in the future.

My Mana Sense and Body was left to practice at night. Though I did improve my Mana sense there was no reaction in the body aspect. It was hard not knowing how and what direction I have to take to show the results I wanted. I tried everything I could possibly think of but clearly I failed every time I did it.

A day passed again and I grew accustomed now and then after eating too many exotic beasts my father and the soldiers would hunt. I discovered that there were Mana beasts from a long time ago that made people stronger and much more sensitive to mana. Due to the extreme hunting of these beasts, they gradually disappeared or have gone extinct. People have then become less sensitive to magic and the age of magicians declined.

I found out that by eating these beasts that there were traces of mana on their bodies. Absorbing the minuscule mana left on the meat could restore a small quantity so I guessed that for it to work as a supply I need to find a beast with a large quantity of mana residing in its body.

That day my father invited me to come along with him and the soldiers to hunt on the forest east of the castle. I did not decline the offer as this was my chance to gain some experience outside. This would also be the first time that I would leave the castle walls and see the outside world.

We rode horses going to the forest. Due to my inability to ride one, I sat behind one of the soldiers making me embarrassed in that short time riding with them.

"Young Lord, we have arrived at Frost Forest."

The soldier I rode with notified me and he told me of the legends that were the Frost Forest. Many packs of wolves would roam here and different kinds of beasts and insects live here. It was dark and full of tall trees that would blanket the sky but we came here while the sun was still shining brightly high up. Streaks of sunlight would pass the treetops making inside the forest visible enough for the people who would go inside.

It was forbidden for common folk to come here as it was a dangerous place to be. Only hunters whose strength that could protect themselves would hunt or explore to find treasures or herbs.

"Everyone prepare and pay attention to details in the surrounding. We have been here for a long time but it should be as always that we be prepared for anything. I don't want any unnecessary injuries or casualties."

My father reminded them so they wouldn't be complacent or too confident. Everyone brought a bow and including myself on this hunt. Though I did not know how to use one while we were coming here I would sometimes try it. So, I was slowly getting used to using it though I was a complete beginner. We rode on the horses for a while until a shout from one of the soldiers who were up ahead.

"My Lord, there are a few snow rabbits 50 meters away from us."

The first animal we encountered was a rabbit and my father signaled for some of the soldiers to get ready.

"Leo, go with them and see if you could hit one."

"Yes, Father."

I followed them closely from behind with my bow readied in my hands. We walked slowly and silently as to not scare away our precious food. The soldier signaled that the rabbit was in sight and the others were getting their arrows to be fired.

"Young Lord, ready your bow and we will start firing at them at the same time."

I picked one rabbit as my target. I nocked the arrow onto the bow as I prepared to release it. The soldiers did the same and counted quietly as possible as he can to three.

After counting to three, all soldiers including myself released it at the same time. Their arrows hit the rabbits on the head while I hit it on the back. I was again embarrassed at my skill.

"Don't worry, Young Lord. We know that this is your first time hunting with us. You will surely improve in no time."

The soldier encouraged me and my face became brighter because of that. The rabbit tried to escape but died to its internal injuries.

Ding.

Yes! This is it. I shouted deeply inside. This was the start of leveling up and gaining stats. We explored slowly going deeply near the heart of the forest.
