Epilogue

When Bakugou came home from work a week after his 26th birthday, the first thing he noticed was the silence. The apartment he shared with Midoriya was too quiet. No breathing, no footsteps, nothing. He knew Deku should be home, but it seemed he wasn't.

Bakugou took his shoes off, washed his hands and threw a quick glance at the calendar next to the door. It was just a couple of days until the Japanese Billboard Charts, and he knew he was nominated for the Number One Hero. A sudden wave of pride washed over him and he smiled to himself.

"Deku?" Nobody answered to Bakugous call, so he assumed his more-or-less boyfriend was out for some reason. He went into the kitchen to prepare lunch, but halted when he noticed a small, orange bottle on the table. It was a pill bottle for description pills. Bakugou assumed they were Dekus, since he still suffered from insomnia.

Then he noticed the lid wasn't on it, but lying somewhere on the floor. When he went to pick it up, it hit him like a train: The bottle was half-empty. They were prescribed from just a few days ago, and if there wasn't a really stupid reason for that, Deku had taken way too many.

Bakugou grabbed the bottle and rushed to the bedroom. Midoriya was lying on the bed motionlessly, curled up into a ball like always. Bakugou went up to him and held a hand in front of his nose. Nothing. No breath, not even cold one. When Bakugou slightly pulled Dekus eyelids up, he felt Dekus skin.

Cold to the touch. His pupils didn't react either. Bakugou checked Midoriyas pulse aswell, but it was nonexistent. The realization slowly started to settle into Bakugou, but there was no reaction coming from him.

Just silence.

Midoriyas lifeless smile seemed to taunt Bakugou silently. It opened a bottomless pit of emptiness in him. His shaking hand slowly lifted the pill bottle up.
