Chapter Twenty One

Nefertari sighed leaning back against her throne it was harder being queen than she thought and a lot of the time she had been on her own since Atem had been busy with the attacker from their wedding she understood that he wanted to know where Bakura and Marik where and she did also to make them pay for killing Mahad but she had hardly seen Atem also he was very distant at times which worried her also his temper flared much easier than normal, since the attacked had't told him a thing she had nearly gone down there to see what was going on but Shada had stopped her saying it was't for any women's eye's to see much so for the queen, and any time she had tried ask him about it he would avoid the question, altogether or he just said he did't want to talk about it which only made her worry more and a lot of time without him she felt lonely she knew that was silly to think that since she was't alone either she was in throne room with everyone else apart from Isis she was doing better but she still needed sometime to cope with Mahad's death, but she did go and see her in the healing chambers mostly it was so she could check on the baby or rather babies since the last time she went to Isis was when she found out also she said it made seance due to how large she had gotten, also she could tell her what sex they were going to be though she would of rather had Atem be with her when she learnt this also about them having twins but he had't come with her the last few times so she told Isis to tell her anyway and it had been a good thing she had been laying down at the time other wise she would of fainted most likely and she could't help but smile even just a little one was a boy the other a girl guess they were going to get to use both the names they had chosen, also Isis had warned her not to become stressed since it could push her over the edge and go into labor due to how far long she was now, which made her happy that she would't have to wait to much longer to meet their children though it scared her at the same time.

"my queen we have a few more matters to go over" Shimon said snapping her out of her thoughts.

"of course Shimon please keep going" she said.

After an other few hours in the throne room she could finally take a breath of fresh air out in the gardens again as she sat on the small cluster of rocks she had done before just out of the heat of the day and sheltered by the shade, she winced when one of the babies moved since they were kicking something that was't meant to be kicked and she rubbed her stomach trying to settle them down though they seemed to want to kick her hand in stead of kicking what they had been kicking and she chuckled though she winced a few times and had to change the way she was sitting a few times before she found herself able to enjoy the garden though she wished she had Atem with her she closed her eye's for a moment when she felt something lick her hand she opened her eye's wandering what on earth it was when she opened her eye's she could't help but seeing a dog next to her with a golden fabric collar around it's neck the dog's fur was a pure white in colour with hear warming brown eye's and it's ears were well fluffy and made it look so cute she could't help but chuckle as dog licked her hands though the dog was big (if she stood it would be her hip height) it was very gentle.

"and where did you come from" she said petting behind it's hears.

"I'd thought you would like him" a baritone voice said making her look over at the door way seeing the man she loved though she could't help put notice how tired he was looking or his inured hand he moved behind his back trying to hide it from her.

"what breed is he?" she asked acting like she had't seen his hand.

"he's a saluki..Mahad had notice him tied up in the village a while go, and that the poor thing had beaten and was more bone than dog when he brought him to the palace so i had people looking after him, you would't think it was the same dog and Mahad gave him to me so i thought he would make a nice wedding gift for you..sorry he's a little late but Isis only gave him a clean spot of health a few days ago also..with everything that had happened and everything that's been going on i had't had the time to bring him to you" Atem said coming a little closer to where she was sitting the dog now had it's head on her lap giving her large stomach a few licks and sniffs.

"thank you he's lovely and very cute does he have a name?" she asked.

"Mahad had told me that he once answered to the name Tanis" Atem said.

"it suits him" she said.

"your right also he'll help you not feel so lonely" Atem said.

"what made you think i was lonely?" she asked looking at him.

Atem could't help but be a little taken back by her tone but he could't blame her for being that way he had been busy trying to get the attack or rather Mahad's killer to talk and what he had been doing to get him to talk he did't want her seeing that's why he had asked Shada to keep her away but he had more or less left her on her own a lot of the time and to rule more or less alone during this time, and he had felt bad about doing that but he had to know where Marik and Bakura were hiding to make them pay for all that they had done and were still doing also he wanted her to safe also their unborn child since she had become rather large and looked like she was going to pop at any second she was still stunning to him though even more so being this way.

"i'm sorry i'v left you on your own Nefertari" he said crouching down and brushing some of her crimson hair from her face so he could see those lovely green eye's of her's.

"i'm not silly atem you've had a lot on your mind lately also trying to learn where Marik and Bakura are is't easy given the state of your hand ..nice try though hiding it behind your back may i see.." she said Atem sighed letting her see his hand the skin was broken and raw telling her he had only just done it "did you punch a wall or something?" she asked him as Tanis gave it a sniff and started to lick his hand making him wince.

"you could say that..and that stings boy" Atem said petting the dog.

"he's worried as i am...your going to have to bath that to night also I'm sure Isis has something that can help it" she said.

"i'm sure she does how is she doing?" he asked.

" a little better ..still heart broken though but her little one is very healthy as well" she said.

"that's good to know and what about our one?" Atem asked.

"their doing fine" she said.

"well that's....wait did you just say they?" Atem said looking at her his crimson eye's wide.

"yes well Isis said it was twins when i head my last check up with her, also that the boy and girl are very healthy even more so since they both seem to like using my insides as something to kick about of late..Atem" she said.

Atem had gone from crouching in front of her to his knee's and wrapped his arms around her the best he could and rested his head against her stomach and she could't help but smile seeing him do this though he had done this meany time's bu something about the way he was doing this right now was so heart warming and tender though a part of her had thought he had fainted but he was alright he was just happy also she noticed his eye's had closed and his breathing was even she chuckled he had gone to sleep so quickly she ran her fingers through his hair since she had't gotten the chance of late to help him him relax even more Tanis laid down on the ground still licking Atem's injured hand then licked her hand whining a little when she winced again and she petted his head smiling at him when he put his head back in her lap again.

"guess your going to be over protective of me to and you know what i don't mind that at all" she chuckled as he let out a little bark in reply to her and she chuckled again enjoying this little moment for as long as she could.
