I asked Beatrice to run. To run as far way from the people here as possible and go to a place where she wouldn't be disturbed.
People would come after me. especially now that a human was found that had been corrupted to such an extend that it effected the material word.
They had no way of knowing if it was me who did it or some other demon. Eventually they would conclude that every demon that dies counts.
I had to be extremely careful from now on. But it felt good that I could trust Beatrice enough to leave her in charge of the papers.
I now had a way to return.
I swiftly made my way back to the caravans.
But when I sat down on my previous spot I saw how once again the man who made it back approached me. he was now dressed in shining grey armour and carried a sword that resembled a cross.
"We meet yet again demon." he smiled brightly as he closed in on me.
I growled at the man and spread my wings wide to look as big as possible.
"Leave me alone human!"
"Why do you have such a bad temper now? Did you perhaps notice that we found your little toy behind the rocks? I must say, you didn't hide it quite well."
"It was not me!" I yelled. I was going through a rough time yet again and I did not like to be blamed that I didn't do.
The man faked a surprised look. "Oh really? Then maybe there is someone who wants to trick us in blaming you? Let's discuss it together so that we may find a possible culprit. For starters, it must be a demon. Because they are the only ones that can spread such corruption. Now let's make a list of all the demons around here." The man grinned. A wide sinister grin. "Oh… there is only you."
"Shut up! I don't want to hear it. I wouldn't go that far!"
The man raised his eyebrows. "You wouldn't go that far? You're basically saying that you are guilty of spreading corruption. Just not that far."
I growled. It was a deep hollow growl. I noticed that some sparks were leaking from the corners of my mouth.
The man took a step back but reorganised himself soon after.
"You like to act as if you are better than the other demons, don't you? But in the end, an act is just an act. You are just as violent, brutal, bloodthirsty and desire driven as them."
The man wore yet again a proud smile. "you have plans for us. Something that you need us alive for. That's why you pretend to be under the control of the dwarf. But in the end, you couldn't suppress the urge to commit such a taboo act. That is what happened. Or do you have anything else to add?"
I managed to get a hold on myself and sighed. "Actually, yes. You are an idiot."
"What are you talking about."
"Did you really think that I was going to fall for this? You obviously came battle prepared in contrast to the last time and you are trying your best to anger me. you wanted me to attack you so that the people finally had the proof they needed that I am free to do whatever I want and that it is not safe to have me around. Thus, they will team up to kill me."
The man frowned. "It does not matter anyways. I have killed so many other demons before you. I should be able to kill you by myself just fine."
He dashed towards me with a speed that shouldn't be possible for humans.
His silvery sword grated a storm of clean slashes aimed at me.
I backed away but was hit on my arm. the sword cut straight through my scales and the wound almost literally burned.
But I did not have to attend this fight. There was no life at stake, and I had to keep up to the false information of me being under control.
Thus, I flew off.
But when I had created some distance between me and him, he threw his sword. It pierced my right wing, and I could no longer remain in the air.
I crashed into the ground and landed on my back.
It burned! The sword burned.
I cried out in pain as a thin line of smoke arose from the wound. I could feel how the sword weakened me by the second. I had to get it out!
The Gert approached. I tried to tell him that he should leave. I had no idea what he was doing here in the first place. but I couldn't get it out since he pressed the sword further into my flesh, causing me to scream out of pure agony.
His face was blank, and I realised that the man had managed to convince him to turn on me.
Finally, he let the blade. only for the man to take it over and rip it out. I could see a silvery white slash, and then nothing.
