As I flew over the city streets, I saw countless small lights and unknown means of transportation. Some resembled flying metal fish, big enough for two people to fit inside it.
Despite what I had imagined, it was not some cold place with advanced technology ran by an unknown power source. The atmosphere was quite warm and gentle and the light that some of the transportation devices gave off could easily be compared to a swarm of fireflies dancing above water.
Multiple rivers ran through the city. Each of them was glimmering with the reflected light of the streets. There were some people fishing and catching lobsters there only to sell it a little while later at one of the food stalls in the streets. each one of these food stalls let out an alluring aroma that filled the air.
Only in my case, I did not know if it were the foot itself or the souls that were released by killing those lobsters. Not that it mattered since I could not order one.
At the moment there were verry few people outside. It was impossible to know the time here, but due to my earlier observation I assumed that it was late in the evening.
I followed the man until he eventually entered a building of which I assumed, he lived in. I hovered above it to make sure that this was indeed the case.
When he did not leave after half an hour had passed, I decided to explore the city a bit more. After all it would have been suspicious if he were to immediately disappear. Especially since he did not have the time to notify others that he was back.
Right before I was about to fly away, I noticed someone entering the same building. It was the woman who was also present in the search party. Tough she was not corrupt, I remembered her as cold and vile. Knowing that she had a deeper relationship tan just colleagues with that man only motivated me more to presume my plan.
No longer following a trail as I had already located my target I begun to mindlessly drift over the city. But then I saw Beatrice waling in an ally close to the wall of Atlantis. She was just throwing away some trash and she would most likely go back to her home after.
("Hello Beatrice.")
When she heard me, she immediately looked behind her. But of course, I was not there.
"My lord, is that you?"
("Yes, it is.")
"What brings you here? Can I assist you with anything?"
("No not really. I have some business to take care of here and I just happened to run into you. How are your wounds doing?")
She showed a slight smile.
"I am healing well my lord. Only my arm does not seem to heal like normal."
After checking that there were indeed no other people or detection crystals close by, I landed in front of her.
"let me see."
She removed her sleeve and there I saw the purple skin.
"I have a hard time moving it and it hurts to the touch. But I am sure that it will get better. There is no need for you to worry about me."
I shook my head. "No. I want you to go to a healer or a doctor as soon as possible. If nothing is done about it, there is a chance that it will indeed never properly heal."
"But..."
"No but," I immediately stopped her. "If you don't go for yourself then let's place it this way. If your arm does not heal, you will become less useful and maybe even more vulnerable against other people and demons. Witch of course will lead to me having to look after you more. Do you understand?"
She looked down and shamefully covered the purple spot on her arm. "Yes, I understand. I will go to a healer tomorrow."
"Why didn't you go sooner?"
"Because it is so safe here that wounds like this usually not occur. People will start to suspect things and that will in turn be bad for you."
I crossed my arms and looked down at her. "you know I have Moenen now."
"Yes… but still."
I let out a beep sigh. I understood that even if they caught Moenen there would still be rumours about me. and she also knew that.
"Just do it for me, okay? Anyway, I can't stay in one place for too long here. I will see you again soon."
I hid myself with illusions again and took back to the skies. There I watched the city for a little longer until I decided that it was a good time to lure that man out of Atlantis.
